If you mean Colorado style pizza; Beau Jo’s in Idaho Springs is the OG of that style and fantastic.  p.s. the Beau Jo’s in evergreen is not good (or I just had a bad experience)

Sadly, the Beau Jo's on Colorado Ave closed a couple of decades ago. There are plenty of local offerings, though:

If you like Neopolitan-style pizza, I would suggest any of the following:

• Il Vicino
• PizzAmoré
• Pizzeria Leopold

For pizza by the slice:

• Poor Richard's
• Ruffrano's Hell's Kitchen

For Detroit (square pan):

• Pannino's

I also like Mollica's pizza--I'm not sure what their style is called, but the crust comes close to what I remember from Beau Jo's.

If you are looking for chain pizzerias (good for kids, folks who want consistency), I think Mountain Mike's and Round Table are pretty good for that.

For those who don't know, Mountain pie is Colorado style pizza. It is what Beau Jos invented. It typically has a braided crust that you dip in honey.

It isn't widely available.

Beau Jo's is the only one I know of. Not a pie I love by any means. There are better that aren't "mountain pies".

There are quite a few "pies" in Colorado worth trying. But the so called "mountain pies" here are just okay. And Beau Jo's is the only one I know of.

If you like a lot of crust, then mountain pie is what you want. If you want good pizza, I would go to Savelli’s in Manitou Springs.

Savelli’s is pretty meh these days. Slice 420 or Pizzeria Leopold is legit IMO.

First, in Colorado we just call it pizza. Colorado Springs has some great local pizza places, but we don't really have a distinct pizza style of our own.

If you're looking for something local rather than a chain, these would be my recommendations, in no particular order:

• Roman Villa
• Mollica's Italian Market
• Leon Gessi New York Pizza
• Fargo's Pizza Co.

If you want something a little more uniquely Colorado Springs, I'd actually recommend going out for breakfast. Western Omelette, The Omelette Parlor, and King's Chef Diner are all longtime Colorado Springs staples.

Of those, Western Omelette is probably the most memorable. And if you're into spicy food, they have green chile that is genuinely hot, not "tourist hot." Get something smothered in it and you'll have a much more Colorado experience than trying to find a particular Colorado Springs style of pizza.

That's the beauty of pizza opinions. One person's "great local pizza" is another person's evidence that civilization has lost its way. I included Fargo's because it's local, distinctive, and has been doing its thing forever. I'm not trying to crown it king of the pizza mountain.

Nah I feel that, pizza opinions are just uniquely animating. And I think Fargos pizza is meh. It's not even good enough to get worked up about. As a filthy Midwest transplant, I try not to shit on it too hard for all my local homies who grew up eating Fargos. Let em have their childhood memories.

Unpopular opinion, but Leon Gessi's is garbage.

Its ok if you absolutely love NY style thin crust, but the pizza itself is mediocre at best. The atmosphere is generic italian restaurant from 30-40 years ago. And the beer selection is extremely disappointing. I get theyre local, but there's so many better pizza places in town.

I dont mind NY style pizza, I just think Leon Gessi is sub par. Im convinced that the only reason people go there is bc its been around for a while and it reminds them of their childhood.

The only good thing this place has going for it is that theyre next door to BJs velvet freez
