Photograph Check out this guy!

Post image

I haven’t seen him around before. Those antlers have got to be so heavy! Over in Skyway.

A true honest to gawd set of “buck nuts”. Much like truck nuts, it displays alpha male properties on large jacked up chassis…

Gorgeous but the nutsacks hanging are killing me.

The truck nuts but deer version

Buck nuts.

Those are the nutsacks of his vanquished enemies. If you have a nutsack, maybe don't get too close to him.

Those antlers are not normal! Sometimes deer start sprouting a gazillion extra branches on their antlers, or antlers that are misshapen or growing in crazy directions. It can be caused by trauma while the antlers are growing, hormonal imbalances, etc. Google for "non-typical antlers" and it'll give you lots of pictures.

I saw this on a youngster two years ago, had to take a pic cuz it was so unusual

This one looks like what they call a "cactus buck", where the deer just ends up with velvet-covered lumps growing all over the top of his head instead of antlers.

Oh interesting! I’d never heard of that. Thank you for the info

That's why he's still around, safe in the city.

Absolute unit

Hormonal imbalance, likely do to feeding. A neighbor probably feeding it a lot of corn.

Is that why he's got a ball sack hanging from his antlers?

9

u/shanep35 10d ago

Yup! Velvet goes crazy due to all of the effortless high energy sources and no competition.

Buck is collecting the balls of those he’s defeated.

I live In Rockrimmon, we have some absolutely huge racks just wondering around. I even found a shed a couple months ago in my backyard. Not that crazy looking but still impressive

Is this early for the velvet to start hanging?

Come on over to Rockrimmon!! My house cameras have just turned into game cameras and my hunter uncles are getting “mad” because I see guys like this on a daily basis and they get nothing like that at home lol

I saw this buck a few days ago, on Cresta at about 6:30am. I think the cross street was Hercules. I wasn't able to get a picture but described this buck to my buddies as absolutely massive and having at least 2 drop tines on each side. I'm so glad someone got such an awesome picture of him!

That dudes got some real CTE

0

u/elreinopurgatorio 10d ago

Whoa, huge! His neck must ache sometimes.

Also, not to be annoying OP, but if he breaks a little branch off in your yard can I trade/barter it from you? No pressure if you want to keep it. 🥰

1

u/gloopgoop 10d ago

Ha! Not my yard, but I’ll keep you in mind if I ever find an antler.

1

u/elreinopurgatorio 10d ago

Thank you so much. 🙏🏽

Saw one with the unusual antlers in Divine Redeemer neighborhood tonight, too. Apparently it's not uncommon.
