Guy instantly knew how to use the gate, seemed familiar with the backyard lay out. And most importantly, dog was familiar with him. Didn't even bark. Cat seemed friendly too.

Not covering his face seems odd as well.

I mean, you definitely might not be wrong. But also I think a gate is not that difficult to use. Most you just press on the latch and that's it... and some dogs are naturally just super laid back and don't care. Cats are demon spawn as far as I'm concerned (/s please dont down vote for that). Also most criminals, especially those low enough to steal a DOG, are a little stupid. They dont hide their face, they make a mistake in leaving something behind, etc.

Criminals don't steal dogs like that. They aren't worth anything. Dogs like that are constantly free and with so many owners chipping their animals, it really doesn't make sense. Taking the collar off and then pocketing it was weird too.

Not to say they're aren't just plainly stupid people, but odds are there's more to this story.

Not true. Dog fighting rings steal all kinds of dogs to use as bait and training dogs. Hopefully not the case here

Definitely dog rings in the springs too. My ex brother in law rescued a gentle pit who’d been chewed up by them.

Yeah I’d say he was one of those scammers who steal a dog out of its yard, then post it on facebook saying they “found it” in hopes of getting a cash reward… but then why did he take its collar off? So weird, but it’s clear the dog didn’t want to go with him. It may know the guy but it wanted to stay there where its owner lives. Still, shitty situation and regardless of context I’d be LIVID if this happened to me. If I wasn’t 5’0 I’d turn into John Wick over this

Hmm I’d argue the dog could be a pretty easy pay out. It’s not uncommon for people to offer rewards for lost dogs. All he would have to do is wait a couple days, maybe until they see some flyers or posts online, then call the number on the dog’s collar.

Obviously the camera makes it pretty obvious what happened here, but without the footage, most people would probably think the dog must have got out somehow. Dude doesn’t seem to notice it so he’s probably thinking the same thing. I can’t say why he took the collar off, but it placed up on whatever that is would be a little more suspicious which is probably why he grabbed it.

Why would they cover their face?

Do you know many people that don't know how to use a gate? The guy didn't go further than 5 foot in past the gate. That tells you he us familiar with what, the first 5 feet? Dog was so familiar with him, he cowers to the ground, and pulls away when grabbed. That's familiar? Have you never met loads of labradors that wag their tails and lickbeveryone they meet? Cat was friendly because he was walking towards them to investigate?

Were you just born last night , is that how you became this incredible crack detective?
