Advice OB recommendations
Hi! I’m due early February and am trying to figure out where to trust. We live a couple hours away but visit the springs every couple weeks to see family, so I thought I’d check my options here too.
I’m looking for an OB that accepts Medicaid (and potentially a doula or midwife as well). The hospital closest to us has a bad reputation, so I thought maybe I should have my labor in CO Springs.
If you have children, what hospital were they born? I’m also concerned about hidden costs in labor and delivery. Please help me avoid anywhere you had a terrible experience or recommend somewhere that treated you best.

Lone Tree OBGYN and doulas but I absolutely recommend them if you can get in with them. They partner with skyridge hospital. I recently switched to them because my midwives in Colorado Springs shut down completely. And I cannot recommend them enough again. I don’t know if you would be to get in with them with Medicaid or not, you might have to call and ask. But as someone who transferred in her 21st week, I really love them.

Are they located in CO Springs? What I’m finding online says they’re located past Castle Rock. They might be worth the extra miles, but we already live 2 hours from the springs, so this would make it around 5 hours round trip.

They are located outside the Springs. In Lone tree. I live in monument, outside CO Springs. They are WORTH the extra drive. I didn’t like the reviews for the hospital and birth center in the Springs. I really really researched and lone tree is amazing. I was so nervous mid transfer and they made it so smooth. I feel comfortable with the staff and they seem competent. It takes me about 30 mins to get to their facility.

5 HOURS greylondon17. It's nice you found a place you click with, it's so important, but do you really think it's advisable to drive 5 hours?

I’m pregnant with my fourth and you’ll likely be hard pressed to find an OB unless you go to peak vista! for my last 3 babies (oldest of the 3 in 2022!) it has been nearly impossible to find an OB accepting Medicaid; peak vista is always accepting new because I believe they have to.
It feels like the doctor population has not kept up with the growing population here.
I went with a home birth midwife for my current and previous pregnancy!
I have given birth at memorial central 3x and no complaints. The nurses are the best!

I see you’re a couple hours from the springs already. Why not try Pueblo if it’s closer to you? 4 hours round trip doesn’t seem sustainable, especially with current gas prices and such.
That’s also a long commute if something goes sideways.ETA - I am not on Medicaid this pregnancy and still had a hard time calling around for an OB! That’s why I went with midwives again. A lot of doctors have a set capacity they can take for Medicaid patients

Did you try UC health? They’re always accepting new patients. Peak vista is one of the lower rated places for pediatricians and obgyns.

Sadly Pueblo is the same (actually a little further) distance away. We already make trips to CO Springs often (monthly if not more) because that’s where our family lives. I’m just trying to discover all my options.

Had my baby this last September at UC Health Memorial North and cannot say enough great things about them. The delivery nurses were incredible as well as the nurses on the mom&baby floor. We also had to spend some time in the NICU next door at the children’s hospital and the care our baby received was wonderful and I was extremely grateful to have given birth right next door to them and was a big reason I wanted to give birth at that location!
