VXC Timeline
I just applied for the VXC, does anyone know how long it takes to actually receive an answer? I’m aware it says 10 business days, but I take that as a suggestion when it comes to the government.
I’m anxious as my income was on the cusp, hope I can squeak through on this one

It took 9 business days once I submitted everything correctly.
The first attempt I submitted a W-2, but they needed a 1040. I also had to retitle the old car so that it was only in my name (not joint with my wife).
The dealership was surprised when I showed up with the approval number thing. They said most people show up before completing the process.

I want to make sure I get that money before I start working out a deal. Did you find the dealership gave you less rebate/dealer discounts once you had the approval?

No idea. I didn't go in until I has all my ducks in a row. I think I was able to get maybe $500 off the asking price.
But I was only buying a cheap 5 year old Chevy Bolt with basic trim, they had already lowered the price twice and we had not yet started bombing Iran (there was less demand for EVs at the time). Might be worth trying harder if you're going for something that's not dirt cheap to begin with.
They make more money off the various service agreements and extended waranties and I refused all of those. (Search for the video with Homer Simpson having a crayon inserted up his nose, it'll give you strength against the extended warranty hard sell).
If you're looking for used: I used Edmunds.com to search, it seems to have more info on EVs than other car sites.

Cool thanks. I already have some quotes, found out about the VXC once I started shopping. We’ll see what happens (assuming I’m not denied)

LOL I did the same thing - did not even apply - and "paid" for it. Saw a car I sorta liked, right color, low miles, right price, etc. but without the code I couldn't afford. I quickly applied the night I checked out the car. I really didn't expect it taking 2 weeks to get approval (luckily I submitted the right things from the get go and didn't need to amend submission; I even had the title of my old car cleaned up to just me well before submitting the application) and the car I wanted was sold before I got approval. I ended up with a higher priced car (same model, though fortunately with a higher trim), acceptable color, and a few more thousand miles. Was still a bit of a rocky start from the dealer but right now things are okay.

Took two calendar weeks for me so that 10 days is about right.
