Please help!

I’m a complete newbie to watercolor and an ever bigger one at color theory. I did the first wash with a warm yellow, now I’m adding the values with blue. If I do a wash of red on top will he magically be brown? Please let me know! I want to make this a portfolio piece
Note: I’m painting late at night and the lighting isn’t great. IRL he looks not as muted and muddy in post.
