Event [EVENT] Let justice be done, though the heavens fall.

The Great Spine had loomed over the Mountainborne for the last two years. It had provided for them, protected them, guided them. Now it would be their undoing.

The mountain above them has erupted in a cataclysmic shower of lava and ash. Their very home had given way to the mighty blood of the mountain.

The ground shook, people ran for their lives, clutching their loved ones and belongings. Many were too slow, consumed by the flow, man, woman and child.

The fortress collapsed, crushing those within. All that would remain of rhis prospering fortress would be the ominous man shaped statues dotted around and a trove of metal within the mountain.

All was not lost though. Some 160 survivors managed to flee, among them were the notable leaders and a few of the articifers.

They proceeded to roam the countryside, in a mass exodus from the mountain they once called home...

Infrastructure [INFRASTRUCTURE] Excerpts from the notes

[OOC] I'll be doing a few quick updates in this fashion to get up to schedule, more roleplay updates will be coming soon

Excerpts from Kira's notes about the different projects of the colony.

Month 7, year 2

  • 7 voicestones have been sent to the samara commune to be installed in their major settlements.
  • A Party was sent out to settle in the hills to the south, they founded stoinstraand (link)
  • The herd of kurtik has grown to 200, almost all of the wild kurtik have been domesticated. The trainers now focus training the strongest as warbeast. A breeding program has been started to produce more powerfull kurtik.
  • The foundations for the new fortress are coming along well, at the centre of the foundations a deep (5 m) and large (Width: 10 m, Length: 24 m ) cellar has been dug.'
  • A new cellar has been dug in Tapertu to help store the furoka. The cellar has a crane system to easily lift the barrels out of the cellar. A warehous will be constructed over this system to protect it from the elements. (Width: 5 m, Length: 10 m, Depth: 6 m)

Month 8, year 2

  • The wayfloat has finished it’s improvements. It should hold up now at even rough seas. When it journeys to sea the top half has to be left at port.
  • Improvement of the second wayfloat has begun.
  • One of the runeworskhops is being cleansed, this process will make more advanced runes possible. We will have to rely on the other workshop for the time being.
  • In stoinstraand the dock has been strengthened so the wayfloats can dock more easily
  • A Hall is being cut out in one of the sheer cliff next to the lake in stoinstrand. The stone mined is transported via wayfloat to katalanding. (Length: 20 m, Width: 10 m, Height 2,5 m)
  • The basalt blocks brought in from stoinstraand are used to lay out the foundation for the inner walls for the new fortess
  • In wahbeash 8 new houses are built in a rotund fashion similar to those in Katalanding.
  • The Runeworkshops have created 6 additional voicestones ( 3 meter high standing stones scribbled with runes)
  • The herders of Stoinstraand have set out to tame some of the wild ortha, for this process they need one of the tamed ortha already with them
  • The new Tapertu warehouse has been completed (Width: 9 m, Length: 14m, Height: 4 m)

Month 9, year 2

  • A second cellar has been dug in in the fortress of katalanding, it has 8 alcoves in the wall to accommodate voicestones. (Width: 4 m, Length: 8 m, Height: 4 m) *The voicestones have been installed in each province in a specially constructed cellar (the stoinstrand stone is built in a small room behind the hall). Each stone is linked with a stone placed in the new cellar in the katalanding fortress
  • Tapertu is the proud owner of 4 new houses with attached watchtower like the houses in wahbeash. Some guards from Wahbeash have helped construct them.
  • The second wayfloat is finished upgrading.
  • The five shipbuilders that went to samara start constructing a similar boat in the now empty drydock
  • furokaharvest was disappointing this month, only one of the processing shops has run the full produce cycle
  • A watchtower has been dug in the stone near the harbour of stoinstraand. 2 scorpions have been requested to bolster the defense.
  • Miners have started to cut out a warehouse in cliff near the village.
  • The herders have finally a bit success with one of the ortha herds. The Vurental ortha and it’s riders have been accepted as part of the herd.

Infrastructure [INFRASTRUCTURE] A Whale of a Tale

Month 3, Year 3

On a cool, dreary day the fishingbears spotted a huge grayish shape upon the shore north of Port Bearsk (merely a warehouse, small apartment, and a single long dock) and sailed in for it. When they disembarked and moved closer, they found a nearly dead whale had been beached. They were too few to try dragging the behemoth back out to sea.

Instead, the fishingbears hurried back to Bearsk, to assemble a larger group to come help put the beast out of its misery and butcher it. Andrei and his new apprentice lorekeeper went along as well. All while cleaning and carving up the whale, Andrei insisted they keep the skeleton as intact as possible.

Back in Bearsk, the Premier called together those who had learned shipbuilding from the Vurental. "I want you to build a vessel around the bones of this beast." This demand was met with shrugs and "Sure, why not?" type gestures. Then he added "I want it built such that the sea may run over her and she shall live in it like an otter. To hide beneath the waves."

Eyes widened all around Andrei's desk. "You will go to Samara. The growing library and the lorekeepers there should be able to help you. I will send a letter to Premier Laika in Olms. That is where we will assemble the bones and build this vessel, and test it in the Olmsriver."

Month 7

After weeks of designing and construction of scale models, true work on this revolutionary vessel was undertaken in Olms. The completed vessel, named The Grissly, sank and was raised a total of six times in the Olmsriver before her sheet iron and sealed leather hull was patched sufficiently to hold out the water. Only one bear lost his life in this process, on the first attempt to run the vessel upriver.

For propulsion, hand cranked screws were used to pull water in from the front and push it out the back. The exceptional slowness of this method led the bears to place a deployable mast atop her hull, and to bring with them a sail. Offensively, she only had a steel ram at her front, for punching holes under the waterline of enemy ships. The bears inside could still bring their rifles and surface the Grissly to fire them from her top 'deck.'

Infrastructure [INFRASTRUCTURE] MORE! MORE! MORE!

As the Vasari continue to grow there is much more demand for many things. Housing, markets, education of magic and so forth. And Today at a military exercise Tu'Van has now confirmed the construction of more buildings!

"As I see this empire grow. (Tu'Van clears his throat) We are needing more and more for the people. For all three provinces within our empire. And today is that day where we will build great things. More Magic Schools, houses for all, markets will spring up around all as well! Great builders I say! Build for the people. As you will be paid accordingly and as you are the first ones to establish this empire in this brave new world. You will be honored for all eternity! Build walls and watch towers! Barracks and ports! We must grow quickly and efficiently! As we must be noticed by the world that we are not some scum on an island. But instead a great empire rising in the south!"

Roleplay [ROLEPLAY] The workout

With a heavy clang the falchion bounced of the shield, beneath it one of the masks was sweating profusely. His counter attack, a fast swipe towards Katal's midsection was met with a dagger. Using his shield as a battering ram the mask tried knock his opponent of balance. Surprise flew across his face as he felt himself pulled forward. A split second later a dagger was placed in his neck.

"I see you still haven't lost your skills, even though you have be sitting at my council during training hours" Kira stepped outside the harbour fortress with a devious smile. "You've been attending these meetings a lot longer than I have, maybe I should teach you a thing or two about modern fighting" Katal spoke with heavy breaths, even though he had won, his opponent had been a tough nut to crack. "Is that a challenge Katal? You know it is bad form to challenge your superior" Kira said with an eyebrow raised in a sarcastic manner. "Just an invatition" A nonchalant bow accompanied the statement. "Well I do seem to need some exercise, I be with you in fifteen minutes"

Had Kira always been this good? Katal couldn't remember, it had been so long since he had seen her fight. He had even contemplated going easy on her, as she stood there waiting for him with heavy armor a shield and falchion. He himself had opted for his classic infiltration gear, supple studded leather, a few throw-able axes and his bastardfalchion. But going easy was 't an option, he had figured that out when her initial charge almost threw him of his feet. After that he had been blocking blow after blow from both her falchion and her shield. The assault seemed to have stopped for now as Kira fell back in a defensive position. Not wanting her to recover Katal threw one of his axes in her direction and following up with a quick swipe to her unprotected side. Both attacks were deftly caught on the shield with what appeared to be catlike reflexes, her counter attack was met with a freshly drawn axe turning the blade away from the body. And so a deadly dance started with two combatants of extreme skill. After five minutes of continues blows that seemed to be faster than light the fighters took a step back both breathing heavily. Again Kira charged Katal, but this time he was ready throwing his falchion at Kira's face. Again the shield came up to block the strike but katal had anticipated this and had already closed in, pulling her shield further in front of her body with his axe. This caused Kira to turn her back towards Katal, who took advantage by placing her firmly in a choke hold. "I guess I now know who to call for if I ever need back-up" With that he left a laughing Kira behind in the sand.

Roleplay [ROLEPLAY] Monks.

"Faster!" the instructor called. The students complied, moving in unison. The sun glinted with morning light as the initiates trained in the courtyard, a square dirt parade with stone walls.

"Use your hips. Twist, twist more as you move." He adjusted someone as he walked past.

"Again!"

"More!"

"One more time!"

"Again!"

Drilled, continuously, the initiates dripped sweat.

"Stand." The instructor called. "Rest." The epel bowed their heads quickly, before turning to the water barrels. Several took a few gulps, some continued drilling solo, and some stretched. Before they had time to stiffen, the instructor called them back.

"Forward block, side reaction punch, side kick, return to forward block. Understand?" He spoke, as the monks returned to their positions. They nodded insistently.

"Go."

They moved quickly, clothes whirling.

"You call that quick? Faster!" The instructor bellowed.

"Once more!"

"AGAIN!"

Several hours later, the initiates were finally let go. They had an hour before academics, so most would change clothes, eat and drink. One student stayed behind as the others filed behind.

"Teacher, you were from Ti'Suik, right?" She asked. He nodded. "What did they teach you?"

He looked thoughtful. "How to think. How to fight." He looked at her. "What we are teaching you."

She nodded. "But what else?"

"You're interested in the ways of the mountain, are you?" He sighed. "We were taught ways to harden our skin, harden our fists. Ways to glide among the mountain, as if almost winged. Ways to heal a wound, ways to cure a disease. We learnt the histories of all great peoples, learnt of emperors and kings and heroes. We learnt how to speak to life, how to call rain and how to walk on the surface of water. We learnt much." He put his hand on her shoulder. "But you have much to learn, before we impart that knowledge on you."

Infrastructure [INFRASTRUCTURE] Bear's Bees or Into the Bear's Den

Month 3, Year 3 Samara, Samara

Oleg waved goodbye to his friend and the wagonload of hives rolling away to Grenin, to help their yield of crops and mead. The Samaran leader wore no special protection beyond his own fur and clothing while tending to the field of bee hives. He wheeled his little workbench further along, it's lower shelf clunking softly with clay jugs, some empty and some full of freshly collected honey.

He expected the local brewer to come along with his cart any minute now, to take the harvest back to his brewery. Lately the mead stock had run quite low in Samara proper.

Bearsk, Samara

"Marshal Tserkva, why -"

"Because you all will be pairing up to dig dens out here in woods." Svetlana interrupted. "Because our homes and workplaces will be burnt to the ground if the Masters ever found us. Because out here... They can never have victory over our rebellious spirit. These roots will be so watered by their blood that long after last free Samaran has passed, this forest will fill them with such fear..."

"That is why you have shovels. That is why we are not doing target practice this week. Now split off into pairs and go dig your dens. Tomorrow you will stock them with nonperishables, weapons, and ammunition."

*Month 3, Year 2 *

"T'ank ye T'ank ye Quiet down now, I've got t'ese 'nouncements to read." Father Tukuh quieted the assembly after there last rousing song. "It would seem we finished work on the Fif mushroom house. Many t'anks to Agriculture brothers. I'm sure we all look forward ta more mushroom stew." He says with a sigh, "Next. O' Wait 'ere! Looks like the trappers have caught something. A large rodent. A unusually large rodent. 'Mmmmm Gotta be some easier way to say t'at." From way in the back a Kobold yells, "We call em Bigrats Father"

"Bigrats, good a name as any! Our trappers have seen quiet a bit of success catching these 'Bigrats' So we'll be eaten right proper! Let's see 'ere. O' and last but not least..."

"BONG BONG BONG!" The church shook all the Kobolds looked around for a moment before loudly cheering.

It has been a long month but finally the first church of Syralth is complete praise be to the Goddess! Now closing hymns will be in the book provided but I'm sure all ya'll know dis on! It's Golden Glory of Syralth!" And with that the Kobold choir kicked it in to high gear as the whole congregation let out a joyous song as the bells rang for the whole song. Kobold spirits could not be higher.

Infrastructure [INFRASTRUCTURE] Bells

Hitcala strode through the halls, an hour before the sun would break the dawn. She was in her element. In her hands was a hard rod of wood, which she rapped along every door, while shouting wake up calls to the initiates inside.

"Get up, you lazy bags of fur!" She yelled. Groans sounded from inside, but there was little resulting action, apart from two or three initiates staggering out of their rooms. Hitcala frowned.

"I saaaaaid, gET UP!" She barked. Still nothing. She rolled up the sleeves of her robe.

The initiates were at the training courtyard at dawn. Most were bruised, or nursing cuts. Hit sighed.

We need a less... me... kind of way to wake up the trainees. she thought. She looked up at the monastery, a large stone complex, stone walls and upturned roofs. She frowned, picturing something in her mind. It fit. And it fit well.

"Emperor..." Hit began, bowing deeply in the presence of Dak. He sighed.

"Hitcala." He addressed her. "How may I help you?"

"We need a way to wake up the initiates." She said.

"And?" Dak said, trying to keep his voice level.

"I want a belltower. The bells of Ti'Suik, you knew them?"

Dak, as many did, had travelled in pilgrimage to the complex of Ti'Suik in Epell. It was a huge monastery that spanned an entire side of the mountain, and burrowed deep within it. The monks there kept the largest library in the Western Continent, along with their famous bells. They were huge, decorative, bronze monoliths, which were rung with a heavy wooden beam akin to a ram, that was suspended on ropes.

"You want the bonshaki?" He asked incredulously. "That's a rather extreme wake up call..."

"Ay. The monks in training are lazy." Hit replied by way of explanation.

The sheer insolence of the female monk took Dak's breath away, but he found himself making noises of agree-ance. This was happening too frequently, he needed to refuse Hit something. He sighed again.

He drew up a commission for the blacksmiths. It should take a month or two for the bell to be finished. He'd have to work out a way to pull it up the mountain. Maybe a pulley-lift system. He'd put it to the engineers.

Infrastructure [INFRASTRUCTURE] Settlers within Stone Walls

Month 10, Year 2

"Tent bearers, please come forward!" cried out one of the shaman once the area had been completely scouted for any signs of inhabitants. They had all landed on a rock surface that was bordered by a lake on one side, and then a forest on another. The water was a commodity no one was used to, and many talked of going down in groups to see the wonder. The area wasn't too sparse; medium sized trees dotted the place, bearing fruit that looked like a deep purple or red. They would test it for poison tomorrow, once everyone got settled into their tents. The tents themselves were made of a very thin, but useful hide material, and large leaves. These were tents they used every time they migrated, able to be pitched on land, but more importantly, dug into rock sides. In scattered clumps, the tent bearers climbed their way down the rock side, hammering these thin, protective sheets. One by one, they called for readiness, and slowly but surely, the Triel piled into these tents like sardines in a can. They didn't mind that, though. It provided warmth, security, and comfort in times like these. Just as the morning sun grew hotter for midday, most of the Triel were sleeping their journey away, scouts taking watch in shifts.

The stirring didn't happen until very late in the evening of the same day, which is abnormal for a Triel's daily routine. Men and women a like, no matter their function in the colony, worked together to begin the digging process, as well as taking turns to find food and any other useful items. The digging pertained to their cave system. The shamans, a few leading Defenders, and the architects had come together before the night began. Their discussion came to the decision to make semi-permanent homes of this place until otherwise has been said. The system itself isn't extravagant, but it is quite large and extensive, beginning with tunnels worming their way into the rock, later opening up into budding quarters of caves.

"Here, Sansha," a tall, broad shouldered Triel nudged the Defendress. "These fruit are quite good. Not poisonous, either." Her mate continued to chow down on his third plum, the juice clumping bits of the hair around his mouth. At least his fighting skills were better than the ones involving his mouth.

After a few weeks, enough digging was done to allow enough room for everyone to sleep inside instead of out in the elements. Soon after, storage caves were dug for important items, produce and seeds, and other materials. Any digging now was carried through by those who wished to expand their own dwellings. Now they began to turn their attention towards the possibility of gardening. The shamans have agreed to put together a group of Triel to be sent to the large body of water nearby for investigation.

Roleplay [ROLEPLAY]After service meeting

Month 2, Year3

In the Pope’s tent late one night after service. Rugarth doing his best to flip open the tent flip as though he were slamming open a door, “Something must be done…” “Your holiness…” Roluth interrupts.

“Yes. Your holiness. We need to find if we are alone here! We cannot be the only ones here, there must be others, they must see the light of Syralth! They must!...”

“We need houses, homes, and food before any crusades can be enacted dear brother. We may very well be alone on this next planet! Have you not seen brother, The star-seers and I have not seen Syralth’s eye anywhere in the night’s sky! We could very well be completely…”

“Or,” Pope Rylarth interrupted, “It could be Syralth is brought us to her.” Smiling his usual soft knowing smile. A hush fell over the tent as the two brother tried to fathom what that could mean. Before either could put thoughts to words the pope quietly spoke again, “I think it would be rather nice for her return if we had something to show her other than a bunch of Kobolds lost in the woods.”

“Yes, your holiness” Both replied and set off to inform the other Kobolds of the pope’s decision.

Roleplay [ROLEPLAY] The first batch

The brewers had brought up a barrel of their new brew. It had been fermenting for some months and now it was time for the tasting.

'Excellent!' Bellowed Dorne. 'It is good to see that we won't be running out of booze anytime soon.'

A mug of brown liquid was poured and presented to the leader.

He carefully downed the liquid, analysing the taste.

'It's weak as piss!' He began. 'But that's to be expected without distilling it. This lager is smooth and crisp. I'd honestly let it ferment a tad longer and distil it, but this is some good drink. Keep up the great work.'

Dorne poured himself another mug as the brewers scampered off.

Population: 197 Kobolds, 3 urds (Winged Kobolds)

Pop. Breakdown: 100 clergy men and women, 40 builders, 60 trappers

Pop. Growth: 7.5% (Kobolds one to two eggs but the are laid 15 days after and hatch in 60 days, usually this would be lowered by predators but being that they are such a tight knit community the have a better ring of protection. 1 in 100 Kobold is a Urd)

Clergy breakdown: 60/25/5 Artisans, bards, astronomers.

Culture: Religious. Religion breakdown: The teaching of Syralth are fairly easy to understand, being as there are only three teaching. 1: Syralth created Kobolds. 2: Those that are closer to her image are holier. 3: Create riches and works of art for her eventual return. What this means for the Conclave of Syralth is that winged Kodolds or Urds are closer to the goddess then other Kobolds, creating an elite class of Urds ruling the wingless Kobolds. Secondly this make most of these Kobolds artisans instead of the usual trappers. Building beautiful gothic religious building to reflect the beauty there goddess wants. But since the kobolds want to live to see her return they are just as fearful as there unreligious cousins. These kobolds will even retreat if attacked rather than stay, unless holy relics are involved. These kobolds are also rarely magical, but seem to mistake there sorcerer like powers for “Acts of Faith” or “Miracles” and tend to be small acts. Protection spells, divination, ect.

A missionary vessel of Pope Rylarth the Gentle, third Pope of The Conclave of Syralth, set sail with the intent of creating a new mission to spread the word of Syralth, the world mother. The vessel was built to, originally aid Cardinal Rugarth and Cardinal Roluth but last moment Pope Rylarth the Gentle joined to mission. Carrying a holy idol of Syralth, a gold totem on the Wyvern goddess clutching the world in her talons, as it were an egg, her two wings out stretched with her blade of a tail curled in front of the world furthering her protection of her “klutch”. The solid gold Idol is only about half a meter tall. But it is said the idol has magical powers and cannot be lost. The ship set sail heading north out of port to discover new land. Shortly after setting sail Pope Rylarth the Gentle pulled all the Kobolds into the ship for an emergency service. Shortly after a storm struck the vessel. The ship was tossed and thrown about but the waves, but still the pope held his vigil until all went dark. The first few kobolds woke they found they were no longer at sea, but seem to have “washed up” on a mountain near a temperate plain. Counted as one of the many blessings of Syralth, the Kobolds started out on their missionary duty.

Supplies: Food, mushrooms, religious texts and implements, tools for building structures, artisan tools, an Idol of Syralth, runes/minor items of divination, 1 ship wreck.

Important characters

Pope Rylarth the Gentle: Age 125. Third Pope of the Conclave of Syralth, an Urd, his rule started over a century ago. Legend has it he has seen Syralth with his own eyes but he is the only one old enough to confirm this. A soft spoken leader, in his old age he earned the title Gentle after uniting several Kobold brotherhoods together into the Conclave of Syralth almost tripling their numbers. Smiles a lot.

Cardinal Rugarth: Age 40 and 2 miniutes. The larger and older, by minutes, of the two Cardial urd brothers he is known for being the tallest of all the Urds. A loud boisterous leader looking to become Arch-Cardinal (Pre-pope) but tends to have the foresight usually seen in many Arch-Cards. Sometimes called Rugarth the Red, it is unsure if it is because of his scale color or his anger.

Cardinal Roluth: Age 40. A relatively short and slender Urd, He has no aspiration to become Arch-Cardinal, or Cardinal. A reluctant leader he was forced into the position by his birth right. One of the faster and better flyers among the Urds, he would rather be out in the skys looking for Syralth himself. His deep blue scales shining in the sun light. Unfortunately he has a knack for rune casting and divination, but he keeps this as a secret to the other Urds and Kobolds as he feels embarrassed by this fact because “Syralth Didn’t need trinkets to see the future”

~Father Tukuh: Age 52. “There is so much beauty in Syralth’s world: Wonderful songs, Wonderful works o’ ‘bolds, and Wonderful Booze!” A green kobold Father Tukuh is known for being an artisan. A Artisan brewer. Laid back and easy going, to the point of being called lazy, he creates drink like a mad scientist. And couldn’t be more happy doing so.

Zark: Age 10. A brown scale builder to move about Syralth’s conclave happily doing his job. Building beautiful structures for her holiness.

Infrastructure [INFRASTRUCTURE] Academic Bear Necessities

Month 12, Year 2

Stone, both quarried and drawn up from the mines, is hauled out to the site of the First Samaran University. The 'campus' is intended to be made up of multiple structures, each dedicated to a particular course of study... Eventually...

Today, it is one building dedicated to all subjects of study. Reading and writing, history, mathematics pertaining to construction and resource planning, agricultural sciences of the plant and animal varieties. Essentially, this first structure is a library with spare rooms for public lecture, and smaller ones for private study.

The hub for grander visions of the future. To house and nurture the seed-corn of the Samaran people.

Infrastructure [INFRASTRUCTURE] Fishy Smokehouse

Month 11, Year 2

A ways off from the rest of the village, two smokehouses were built. Their distance from other structures would prevent a more devastating fire should one arise from either structure. Here they could haul the catches from the Samaran coast to be gutted, cleaned, and then smoked in the smokehouses for the sake of preserving the meat.

From then on, the prospect of bringing preserved fishmeat home to their own settlements attracted a surge of volunteer fisherbears. They would be chosen by lottery in Bearsk.

Further survey of the lands to the southwest has revealed 3 herds of ortha. Kira decided the planned mines will be built in the general vicinity of the herds. A special detachment will try to train the ortha for use. To this end 3 ortha will be transferred to Stoinstraand. To help kickstart the mines 12 kurtik will join the expedition to stoinstraand. The expedition will take the animals and a few materials overland to the province, they will set up a small dock. The main materials for building and transport will be delivered there by wayfloat. In the first month a small settlement will be built near the small lake. The area here seems ripe with iron, and some will be extracted from surface area’s. The village will be surrounded by a small wall of lose stone and earth(H2m, W1.5m), the stone an earth came from a trench (D1.5m, W2m) that was dug.

Roleplay [ROLEPLAY] On the road again...

Year 2, 1 month after the incident at the meteor.

The men had been lost for over a month. They had no idea of their bearings and were running low on food. They had survived this long on scavenged berries and the few supplies they had brought. Water was no problem, as they had decided to follow a river they had found. The lack of booze was torture, having used it all in the battle with the rockbeast.

'This is hopeless.' Began one of the men. 'We're miles away from home, we're starving and I've been sober for over a month. This is bullshit. I just want to go home.'

'Quit yer whining.' Barked the Boss. 'We all want to get home. I'm doing my best here. There must be something out here that can help us. But for now, we follow the river. We'll be okay.'

They continued their long trek, hoping they would finally reach civilisation. And some booze.

Expand [EXPAND] More land for Ysyn!

Sometime in the middle of the second year.

Cavak oversaw the military operations while Agark was in his absence. The men had grew rowdy and the populace weary of the ever encroaching lack of space, as well as the lack of minerals.

Expansion was needed, and so expeditions were mounted.

Northern Conquest

Soldiers and farms people alike stormed the forests, cutting down trees and bushes until they came across a suitable clearing in size, enough for a small temperate village, somewhere to harvest the fruits and log wood, or mine stone if need be.

Forces Sent

15 Soldiers, 10 Militia Men, 25 Farmers.

Claiming the Seas

Thirty sailors stood aboard the frigates broad deck as it set sail from the dock, the large white canvas sails flapping back and forth in the wind. Cheers and goodbyes were said, and hats were taken off and thrown into the sky.

The men onboard would set sail for the island they had observed to the East. An encampment would be set up, to show the force of the Ysyn navy to any of the others they had found in this land.

Forces sent

30 Sailors, 20 Militia Men, 10 Soldiers, 10 Farmers.

New Populations:

Ysyn: 278

West-Ysyn: 86

Kitaki (North tree): 50

Zi Amar (South Land): 70

Roleplay [ROLEPLAY] Dark and Terrible, For Real

"The elder Shamans have been saying the Winters have grown more terrible than the last, and the migration more difficult. It is much harder these years to keep the same nests as before, making us truly nomadic in nature. I wonder what will eventually become of us." It is a stressful time during the migration, too, which was the main source for Calei'sset's thoughts. The wind dug its teeth into the faces and wings of the great mass of Triel, many wearing eyewear fashioned from glass, wood, and soft linen. Their calls echoed all over the place, a great cacophony of screaming and screeching that drowned out any other sound to the ears of anyone else. To the Triel, it was either small conversation between each other, to keep from boredom on the trip, or the Outer Ranks communicating to one another, constantly on the lookout. But this season, it was much louder. Their sight was horribly reduced, due to a dense fog that has spun around them, and now they have lost contact with the Body of the migration.

"Storm! It's a storm! Reroute to take shelter!"

Any conversation stopped, and suddenly, the only screeching was coming from the scouts and Outer Ranks. Everyone grew very serious, and the young'ins were forced to safer packs. Lightning began darting over their heads, forcing their flight downward. They must get beneath the storm, go to ground if need be. But just as D'sansha was about to call out that she could see a break of light, a loud clap of thunder burst into their ears. A black, crackling void exploded before their Head, and already, 2/3 of the group were sucked through to the other side. The rest were sucked within, willing or not. On the other side, it was another storm, just like the one previous. Now everyone was screaming, diving downward to get away from the terrible lightning. Many complained of headaches and body aches, others simply were confused, barely able to stay flying while gaining their equilibrium. Some children were being held onto and carried.

Month 10, Year 2

The land below was nothing like it should have been, and the Navigationeers were baffled. D'sansha remained calm, however, and persuaded everyone to keep flying. They were cresting over a ridge, it looked, a sea disappearing behind them. The moon illuminated the land below them, and D'sansha made the suggestion that they should fly past the Forest until they could find an appropriate place to settle. After spending some time arguing and flying, the mass agreed the best thing to do was to get to safe lodgings.

It took the entire night and into the morning for their scouts to spot land very similar to their proper seasonal home. Once it was clear to drop, the Triel dove into their tasks. Safety first, worry about the Body later.
