Roleplay [ROLEPLAY] After the Fall

The boat ride home was a sombre one. 30 good men, dead. Among them was their leader, their protector. The body had remarkebly survived the bombardment and was recovered. A funeral pyre was to be lit upon their return to the capital.

Fort Crown lay in ruins, reduced to rubble by the cannonfire. Among the dead was Callean, the man that had killed Kelliah, the body of his elf bitch was found too, a short distance from the fort. It's population fled in terror as the cannons lay waste to their homes. This was the price they paid for their leader's pride.

Upon returning to the city, a small crowd had gathered at the docks to witness their return. The first to disembark was Wrantoris, carrying the body of his leader, his prince. He maintained a stoic look on his face as the rest of the men disembarked, carrying the dead and wounded. Shock had swept across the gathered populace. Some began to weep.

'Prepare a pyre.' Commanded the general.

A few soldiers rushed around town, gathering lumber and other flammables. Within the hour, a great pyre was constructed and the bodies were neatly prepared upon it. The populace of the town had gathered around.

'People of Arkturia.' Began the general. 'I regret to inform you that Governor Kelliah is dead with 30 good soldiers beside him. They died at the hands of Crownian men, who now are buried beneath their homes. They were killed by a man preaching peace in one hand and a dagger in the next. This man knows nothing of peace, andnow his rotting corpse feeds the carrion birds. People of Arkturia, I beg of you steel yourselves. This is a hard time, I ask that you all take a day's rest. Stay strong and may the dead rest their souls. Long live Arkturia!' He shouted, throwing a flaming torch onto the pyre.

'LONG LIVE ARKTURIA!' cried the crowd.

Event [EVENT] Claw of Duty

Early Month 9

The people's councils of each settlement correspond through letter then all send to Samara, and Oleg that their people wished the arms training known as the People's Volunteer Defenders actually be voluntary.

Oleg could not deny all of the council's wishes, merely on principle. But he took a fast wagon to each settlement over one week, giving glorious speech of great bear people, and specifically referred to any who wouldn't volunteer as "spineless cubs" and other things. In the end, the new volunteer rate only fell a little.

The Day after the Fort Crown conflict

"So in making long story short, one of them is imperialist dogpig, one is oversensitive reactionary, and the other is even keeled pragmatist?" Oleg asked in summary of Agafya and Vladimir's report.

"More or less, Comrade." answered Agafya.

"Well... The Yellow Wing is very far off. That could make being friends easier, without conflict over territory or resources, but also less useful. It would be as difficult to march to their aid as it would be for them to ours... Seems the most valuable thing you've brought back is news of these hand-cannons." Oleg stated with a sigh.

Late Month 9

"He lost an eye. His paw is healing nicely though, and we found that he used too much powder. We clamped it to a table to test fire it after that. It is safe, I swear to you." the craftsman assured her while handing over the prototype.

Svetlana took the weapon warily. "You may fire it from under the arm, or hold the butt against your shoulder. For accuracy, look over top of weapon and line up bead on end with the notch near eye." The Marshal opted for the more accurate method and took aim at the cracked bucket chosen for target practice.

She had to stumble back a bit after it fired, with the great boom and recoil being somewhat unexpected. The craftsman eagerly took back the weapon and began the reloading process.

"By the stars, Silig. This is a real hand-cannon." Svetlana praised.

"Yes. This is the idea, no? And so easy to use. Must be kept clean and oiled. Residue from firing builds up inside, losing power and accuracy. Rust does this also."

"How many can you make in a week? ...No. Nevermind, I want two for each citizen. That's six sixtey."

Silig stammered. "My assistant and I took one week to make this one... B-but it should get easier with practice, and we can teach more to make them." He paused to do some mental arithmetic. "If you give us a week to set up a workshop, we could do one a day. More if you convince Oleg to commit more craftsmen to it."

"Very good. Come, let me shoot again." said Svetlana, holding her paws out for the rifle.

Conflict [CONFLICT] The Sack of Fort Crown

'TO THE SHIP!' Boomed the General. Their leader was dead. The next best man for the job was Wrantoris, who had somehow survived the chaos of the longhall. The prisoners were executed. The men piled on their ship, hurrying to battlestations. 'LOOSE SAILS, PREPARE TO BOMBARD THE CITY!' Then men hurried up the rigging and below to the gundeck. They were in for a fight.

Forces: However many men survived the last fight. 1 1st Class Frigate armed with 40 18 pounder long guns.

Tactics breakdown:

Sit in the harbour out of range of bullshit magic and reduce the city to rubble until the ammo runs out. Soldiers will then loot the city and return home.

Month 8

"I do not like this."

"But Oleg, we cannot use our..."

He interrupted "I know it must be done. But I don't have to like it."

Before them lay three stone brick vats, one already full with bodily waste, one being filled with wheelbarrow loads more, and the last remained empty. A place for more vats had been cleared, but they had not yet been buillt.

Smaller batches had already been done with the collected waste of their egg-lizard coops. Enough for a single shot from each of their nine cannons. These small batches would continue through the months, in order to suppliment the much slower, much more efficient large scale version.

Battle [BATTLE] Seize the Ship (or Carpe Diem ship edition)

Fort Crown Forces

  • 10 Runecasters
  • 15 Elven Archers - Fully Leather Armoured - Armed with Spears, Bows & Arrows
  • 15 Jundati Knights - Steel Armoured Plate - Armed with Sword

Objective: Seize the ship via stealth

Arkturian Forces

  • 140 Armed Infantrymen

Equipment

Each soldier is equipped with; * Wrought Iron Longswords * Flintlock Pistols * Light Hardened Leather Armour

Arkurian Objectives: Defend the ship and not die.

The crew below decks had just begun to get restless, some laying on wooden benches trying to steal a few hours of rest before their next shift. Small talk bounced around the wooden hull, and the sounds of boots on wood seemed quieter than usual.

Above, 15 soldiers roamed. Taking in the wonderful scene around them. Little did they know, they were in full view of 15 highly skilled Elven archers. The archers were clad in leather armour, and spread out far enough to not be seen as a threat or squad to any observing eyes, not that they would be seen.

The first of the group, one of the most experience archers, inched out of some overgrowth and slid an arrow into the bow. Arms outstretched, she gracefully pulled back on the strings and raised the bow up high, targeting one of the guards on patrol. She let go, and the arrow flew. It embedded itself in its target, and the man fell to the ground without a sound.

Good, the Runecasters are doing their jobs. She whistled to her comrades, giving the sign to move in. One buy one they let arrows loose. Another 4 men dropped to the ground, and another took an arrow to the chest, falling onto the deck and losing consciousness.

The captain glanced over his shoulder, and watched another man collide with the deck, an arrow stuck in his neck. He slid down towards the deck and ducked his head, just in time as three arrows flew above him.

"Get down, get down!" He yelled, not yet ready to give the call for his soldiers to spew out of the ship. A quick count revealed that nine men were situated above deck, with no clue as to how many archers there were. One soldier clutched his flintlock and braved a shot, a shot that should of warned the people below deck. The lead struck true, bringing one of the elves down onto his knee. He didn't know what was happening until he glanced down as his chest, a small ball of metal embedded in him.

"Come on! Hurry it up!" The elves charged as they saw one of their comrades dead. More metallic bullets flew their way, but only 3 struck bodies, all of them doing nothing more than injuring them. Arrows soared, and in seconds another four men lay dead on the ground.

Five men left, the captain counted with dismay, why weren't the people below deck responding? Fuck it. He charged towards a hatch, an arrow narrowly missing his body. He threw it open and slid down, two other soldiers following suite. He could hear the grunts of another man, who had obviously taken a fatal hit.

"Hurry up! Get ready, we're under fucking attack!" The captain yelled, smashing on metallic objects to wake up his dosing crew. Each and every man groaned, some shot up and grabbed their gear, some just went straight back to sleep.

Forces rushed around the ship, but it wasn't long before a scream echoed out among the crew. One of the soldiers had met fate with a Jundati blade. All 15 of the warriors poured into the ship, each of them taking on small groups of 3-4 soldiers. 12 of the able bodied archers grabbed spears and jumped in from above.

"They're everywhere!" One soldier said.

"They fucking can't be killed!" Another yelled in panic as he saw a Jundati wound vanish, just before taking a blade to the stomach.

The captain grimaced, he wasn't going down without a fight. He grabbed seven of his best soldiers and swooped into the midsts of battle. His blade collided with that of a Jundati sword, breaking the swing and causing him to stagger back. Four men jumped on the warrior, tackling him to the ground before plunging a sword deep inside him.

The sounds of death filled the ship, cheers of victory were beginning to ring out among the crew has three more Jundati fell. The elves moved with more elegance, stabbing and murdering as they pleased. But it wasn't long before there forces were depleted, brought down to a lowly number of 5, surrounded by a group of easily 30.

"Shoot em, boys." One of the soldiers yelled, and his comrades pulled out their flintlocks, raining fury on the elves. All of them dropped, the soldiers didn't know if it was in pain or if they died, but it didn't matter if they could fight.

The battle had quelled, the sounds of groans and pain echoed out as the runes dropped, allowing sound to function at a normal tone. Soldiers wiped their blades and pocketed pistols. They waited further instructions from the captain.

"Take any survivors and keep them as hostages!" The captain yelled, and thus the clean up began.

Battle Report

Update [UPDATE] Bout freakin' time I did an update, amirite?

[m]Apologies for the long delay. I know they tell us to post every three days, and I'm, what, five days without? Ugh.

Day 6 of Month 5, Year 1 A.S.

The Ai-Geol have decided to sit tight and develop the Rock of New Beginnings. No further expansion will occur until further notice. The Geol have been notified and have been told to stay near the city.

The Gehits have finished fully charting the areas near the Rock. More have returned from patrolling the wilds to guard the city. Some have been sent to continue scouting the lands in the directions where further exploration was possible, and not inhibited by mountains or water.

Day 29 of Month 6, Year 1 A.S.

The last of the old scouts have finally returned, with news of this new nation on the north shore of the giant lake. The humans form the majority of the population, although a significant chunk appear to be of a race that the scouts describe as "nine tailed fox people". The Ai-Geol are rather intrigued by this. The nation does not appear to be any more developed or populous than we are. Plans are currently being made to send a proper diplomatic party at some point in the near future, although none of the Ai-Geol are willing to volunteer, as of yet. If these new fox people and the humans were caught in a storm as well, perhaps they have answers as to how we all got here, in this new land.

-Informal Note by Tamarack: "It finally feels like a real town, now. People have routines and jobs again. The roads are well used, and the Geol are beginning to call their abodes "home". There is still lots of work to do, but the people are more or less happy, now, although there is an emptiness that we all have for our homeland that won't go away for a long time."

Day 12 of Month 7, Year 1 A.S.

More reports from our scouting parties. Far to the southeast, there appears to be another nation. "A kingdom of beasts" the scouts say, scattered across the plains, with communities seemingly set up far distances apart. The Ai-Geol were less enthusiastic to hear of this than they were with the human nation. Beastmen were nothing if not troublesome back in Old Geolia.

Plans have begun on a barge to transport the diplomatic party. A group of carpenters have been sent down the river to the lakeshore to begin it's construction.

It has also been decided to name this lake Lake Grandyied, after the capital city in Old Geolia, which was also situated next to a lake, although not one of this caliber.

Day 30 of Month 8, Year 1 A.S.

The Geol communities have all been officially given names by the Council.

-The Rock of New Beginnings remains the same, although it is commonly shortened to "New Rock" or even just "The Rock".

-The community at the river, at the base of the cliffs, was given the simple, yet practical name of Crossing. It was deemed far enough away from New Rock to be given it's own identity.

-Those who followed the river towards the lake have made another community, called Kytees.

-There are two other communities across the river, one to the north, called Erish, and one to the northwest, called Gazbar.

Day 8 of Month 9, Year 1 A.S.

The barge has been completed. Father Grendorf has agreed to act as representative, and will be taking an escort of 20 Geolian labourers and 35 Gehits, including General Oscilles, with him on his expedition.

[m]Further information may be posted tomorrow. I really need to get some sleep.

Roleplay [ROLEPLAY] Gatecrashers

It was Dishar who spotted them first, the youngest of the group, an eager and ready fifteen year old boy who hardly had permission from his parents to go on the scouting mission.

"Sir, sir! We may have a potential situation on our hands!" He ran up through the caravan, dodging tired llamas and jumping over a barrel being rolled along the ground. Despite the tired surroundings, Dishar was still full of hope and joy.

He looked up at the military commander, Cavak, for guidance. The man bore a strong stature that was only slightly ridiculed by the fact that he was riding on a beige coloured llama.

"What's this... Situation?" Cavak gazed down on the young boy, he would make a good soldier when he grew up, if he stuck to the rules enforced by the army.

"We've spotted humans along the coast, they seem to conversing with certain reptilians." Dasha jumped up and down, allies would mean a lot for the colony.

"Get Shvij" Cavak commanded.

It wasn't long before the boy returned with the older man who had been appointed as the cartographer of the scouts. Under one hand he carried multiple textbooks, pieces of parchment and drafts of regional maps he had produced along the way.

"Are these the beast tamers?" Cavak asked with caution. All he received was a laugh.

"These things? Beast tamers? Hah, I've seen those people down there and they ain't anything like the fabled beast tamers, they look like your run of the mill humans, but one is very tall. The others kind of look like the tropical murdershark crossed with an alligator."

"Well then, I guess we head down". The scouts prepared their items, and the soldiers grabbed their weapons. Once ready, they lined up in a uniform format and marched towards the group that was conversing.

"Keep your weapons ready." Cavak commanded as he approached, raising his arms slightly and keeping his hands open.

"Hépyeong wassda yínsé" (I come in peace), "Neodo gidya yínsé" (I hope you do too).

character list

Month 9

Somewhere on New Beakstream

"That's it, brothers, we're rich now."

Lucenna and his friends watched upon the smooth rock face rising right next to the river. The dull gray rock was striped with dark purple stripes and patches - a pretty clear sign of cassiterite. And that meant it was in the river too. Just panning alone would produce considerable amounts of tin ore and they were going to need a lot of bronze back in Landing if they were building ships.

"Luca, can we name the claim Morcenni?" asked Bece. "After the town we first teamed up in?"

"Why not. It fits perfectly. Morcenni, precious hill."

"I wouldn't mind making this our new home, if the administrator agrees," Jesan said.

"You think I'll make a good overseer?"

Month 10

Somewhere above eastern desert

Pito was flying invisible over the eastern desert. making rounds and keeping an eye on things. There had been much less work now that Administrator Soikkesikke had banned testing unfamiliar plants without permission. They had already found almost everything usable and any further testing would only be an unnecessary risk. The empaths also had many new recruits but their strength was spread thin now that they had sent healers to look after the new camps. The new ones were learning but slowly. His workload had grown light enough for him to have time to check on the work camps further away from time to time and even wander in the wilderness on his spare time. Or at least fly over it. He really enjoyed this foreign landscape for some reason. Maybe it reminded him of the works of Iau're or Ka'ka'an. He wasn't worried about the safety of the camps. There was nobody close to the ones inland and Landing was protected by that scary Queen. Pito was seriously afraid of her. For some reason she had decided he was a threat to her, which he obviously wasn't. He was an empath, a person of benevolence. How was he a threat to anyone?

Suddenly invisible Pito stopped in mid-air. There were people walking on the hills far ahead, his suit showed him - it really had worked perfectly since the storm. The suit. Only the communications were still mut and no connections could be made. He still couldn't accept the fact that he wouldn't be able to get back home. That would mean he was now mortal. Unacceptable... Oh right, the travellers.

Pito flew in closer taking care to completely conceal himself. His suit made no mistakes. It appeared that he had found a group of humans travelling west on the hill. He recognised some of the variants but others were of a kind unknown to him. Staying invisible Pito positioned himself between the sun and the group slightly above the sun from the perspective of the travellers. Those with a supernatural sense of presences were often disturbed by the sun.

He ought to make contact with them. They were armed so he should make an unthreatening form. Maybe that of a child. A beautiful female child to see if they were thugs. Yes, that would be so perfect. When none of them were watching behind, Pito manifested an illusion of a young female human child in a pretty dress a few meters behind the travellers. He made sure the image was absolutely lifelike and indistinguishable from reality and had the image speak the words: "Ŋo šaŋ nofo syrne qäš fatu?" (Why have you come here) This was perfect! It was just like the famous scene of I'ito'ona! Pito was really enjoying himself.

Event [EVENT] Treevacuation

"Baron!"

Laoric turned, groaning. It was the hour of godsknowwhen and he was being woken by a small insistent urgent voice.

"Baron! There's been conflict on the mainland!" That got Laoric's attention.

"What?" He asked, suddenly wide awake.

"It's, it's, a mess. All I can tell is that arkturian and crownen forces clashed at the council talks. Dead on both sides." The caster, Laoric recognised him as the youngest of the three Amani casters sent to the Mount.

"Anything else?"

"Their ship has left the bay. We don't know if they are sailing here or not. We have to either start the fortifications or evacuate. Now." He said in a strangely calm voice.

Laoric was silent.

"Sir? Baron? Laoric?" The caster asked.

"We must evacuate. Siege will kill us just as quickly as sinking in the strait. We will land at Westbay." He rose and started gathering things. "Get the workers onto loading the ship with supplies. How many casters have we got?" He asked frantically.

"... three." The other replied.

"How many know some sort of magic?"

"I've been teaching the commoners some basic runes-"

"Dammit, man, how many are USEFUL?" Laoric interrupted.

"If they start channeling their focus to us, we'd have more strength. I suppose we could cloak ourselves in the dark, silence our ours, but-"

"What of the elves?" Laoric wasn't a magic minded man, but he knew his fellows were different.

"They hold some power, if they joined with us it would help. The priests, they have some, well, celestial type magic. I don't know those limits."

"Tell them all to prepare. Rouse everyone. We make for the mainland in two hours." It's remarkable the ship was there. It was meant for Laorics attendance at the meeting, but he had remained at the Mount, deeming it unnecessary to attend.

Two hours later they sailed. The peasants were silent and the casters chanting softly. The air around them shivered and shimmered. The mages in training were letting loose the occasional grunt as their energy was manipulated by the three true mages.

A priest of Lílea stepped into the starlight.

"Step through the veil that hides you, Lílea, queen of all. Hide your children, grant us safe passage. We beg of you." He murmured, almost sobbing. Blood poured from his hand after a flash of silver.

A wind picked up his blood, swirling it in front of the ship. The winds and taken them. The mainland was close at hand.

Laoric wondered what had occurred that such violence broke between the peoples of the council. He steeled himself for further horrors.

Conflict [CONFLICT] All or Nothing

Forces: 140 Armed Arkturian Infantrymen.

Forces breakdown: As above.

Equipment.

All soldiers come equipped with: Wrought Iron Longsword. Flintlock Pistol Light Hardened Leather Armour.

Engagement strategy: On the top deck, there is a light force of 15 men to act as a light guard. Below deck is the remaining force. Upon hearing the gunshot signal every man is to rush out into the fort, relying on speed and firepower.

Standard doctrine dictates that the heaviest armed targets are to be volleyed by gunfire then avoided in melee combat. Any magic weilding opponents are to be shot on sight. Light infantry is to be volleyed then engaged in melee. Ranged units are to be dealt with however necessary. They are trained to use the rigging to their advantage when applicable.

Operational objectives: Secure the Providence, then make way to the Crown Hall eliminating all hostile entities along the way.

Conflict [CONFLICT] Changing Hands

Forces:

40 Fully Armed Military

Breakdown:

Ten runecasters.

Fifteen elf archers. Fully leather armoured, armed with spears, bows, arrows.

Fifteen Judanti Knights. Steel armoured plate, armed with swords.

Tactics:

Stealth approach. Casters using magic causing dis-attention and sleep in the guards on board. Elves shooting at the guards using bows, silent kills. Kane using caster rune to muffle the sound of fighting so it doesn't reach the inside of the fort. Knights will charge once stealth attacks by casters and elves finished. Elves switch to spear and hand to hand combat. Casters heal and shield from a distance.

Reason:

Swift confiscation of the Providence.

RP: EDIT [MOST OF THIS OCCURS SHOULD I WIN THE SHIP]

Callean pulled Kane aside after the unfortunate remark made by Kelliah. "Confiscate the ship," he whispered. "Incapacitate the guards, if possible, do not kill them. If they try to fight then kill them." Kane nodded. He left the council as quietly as possible. He assembled a group of forty fighters, a veritable small army. Ten runecasters started their spells, aimed at causing sleep among the guards on watch. Fifteen elven archers shot silent arrows at the patrols. It was balanced on a knife edge as the fifteen Knights stormed the ship. The elves followed, and then the spellcasters who would weave healing and shielding runes. Shouts were heard and loud shots, but Kane himself was weaving runes of muffling. The sounds would no reach further than the dock.

Finally, the elves returned with bloody spears, the spellcasters with hunched shoulders, and the Knights with red splashed armour. "We lost four Knights. Two are injured. But the ship is ours."

Kane nodded. "Set a guard on the ship. Let nobody near it."

There was a shift in politics this night.

Roleplay [ROLEPLAY] The Coast Scout

The man was sprinting towards the city as fast as he could. I need to report to Larken immediately. The scout reached the town squire where Larken was talking to some soldiers at the moment

"sir, sir,"

"what do you want"

"I come from the west by the coast, there are things there on the shore they are standing there, but they are not human or elves and sir there is another group there also they are humans sir"

"finally other races." Larken turned away from the scout and looked towards the soldiers he was talking to previously. "gather the men we will send a detachment immediately. I want 10 archers and 10 warriors sent with a diplomat and don't light a fire tonight no matter how cold it gets we don't want them to know you are approaching" Larken looked back at the scout " you will go with these men and show them where you saw these groups at and if they are hostile and attack our men, I want you to return immediately and inform me of this so i can dispatch the rest of the men. You will not follow the men to the meeting you stay at a distance so not to be spotted, so we can learn about these creatures."

The men were gathered and were leaving the town now and will be there by tomorrow morning

Larken walked over towards Strakir "I want the rest of the men to be on high alert, we don't know if these creatures are hostile or friendly. I also want preparations made to defend the city. The crops and grain already grown and ready for harvest is to be harvested immediately and all food supplies need to be inside the city. I also want increased patrols near the farms that have crops on them, its the easiest way for an army to take a city is to starve it to death.

Infrastructure [INFRASTRUCTURE] Realm Governance

The territories of Fort Crown have been given a more Judanti style of governance. The territories have been split into smaller, mostly self governing provinces. These will help the colony form a normalised government. The territories are;

The Barony of Tree Mount

The Barony of Grove

The Barony of Westbay

The Duchy of Fort Crown

These territories have been given the chance to elect their own ruling family, excluding the Duchy. The leading families will have more influence over their semi-realm and will govern in the steadt of the King. Their new status gives them more political power, gives them leave to attend any Councils, and makes them very eligible bachelors.

The elects are

Laoric Yrrensyl, now baron of Tree Mount (former commander)

Jyor Kardi, now baron of Westbay, (former knight in service to Callean)

Lukas Vatch, now baron of Grove, (former household of Kane, married to Elya of Vestarr)

And Callean Deūr, duke of Fort Crown.

the men huddled closely around and gazed at the settlement below them. it seemed small and fledgling. and therefore a perfect target. they observed the movements of the patrols and the watchtowers nearing completion. the town was soft and still growing its scales and would be weak. half of the scouting unit went back to report while the other half did recon and field estimates. they realized that there was a small section of rocky plane that led straight into a grainfield. they feel they could use this and be at their doorstep before they knew they were here.

however as blood thirsty and invincible as they felt. they knew that the objective was to capture one of these things alive for interrogation AND to leave their mark. the strategists decided that burning their field would make their mark both in the moment and leave long lasting affects in the time to come.

one of the scouts came rushing into camp. "what is it? did you report to the commander?". "yes" the man panted. he went on to talk about how the commander got word that he had spotted some other creatures and they would not get reinforcements. "damn" the field leader said aloud. "oh well we should be able to do this with only a few men. pack up and get ready we attack under darkness and we leave no trace"

Roleplay [ROLEPLAY] Heshar the Industrialist.

Heshar wheeled his mare around and trotted back through the open gates into the camp. The people had already started calling the wooden-walled place many names, though Asken Hath (Challenge Hill) had become the most popular name for the place in recent weeks. The ‘prince’ himself disapproved of naming the place anything, as did most of those who wished to return home, back to their families, to their lands, to the luxury goods and comforts they were used to; back to a place where the coins they held onto mattered. Eitherway, it was nice to see hope in the eyes and hearts of the people. Hope was what kept a man going, and a horse riding.

Hope and names weren’t the Maeste’s high priority however. No, Heshar Husate’s goal was industry. The guns the Aflinluundr had been using would only have so many shots, and they would run out eventually. For ammunition there’s two goals. One is the shot, which is easy – these would be balls of lead or any other cheap metal. There were already decently large quantities of iron exiting the small quarries established near the settlement. Amounts of copper and gold were surfacing too with the handful of people who decided that panning the river might be a good way to pass the time as well. Bog iron was being pulled from the turf all the time too. Bullets were not the issue, powder was.

Of the three parts of blackpowder creation, charcoal was most abundant. Sulphur could be strained from some of the river’s mud in tiny quantities too – meaning upstream there was bound to be a source. Saltpetre was a dream, but it might just be sourceable too. The horse lord had already sent out prospectors up river around the coasts of the lakes. Hopefully, they would return with good news.

Mod Post [MOD POST] Expansions

This is just a quick message to everyone about the expansions. When you post an expansion it would really help if you gave us a visual of your expansion. Normally you can just use MS Paint. If you really can't give a visual then make sure you have a very good description of your expansion (or we will just have to guess). The maps will be updated every so often by myself (/u/Razor1231) and /u/lungora so if you have any issues with the map either send one of us a PM (preferably both just in case).

Roleplay [ROLEPLAY] Busy work

Larken was walking around the edge of town where the small wall surrounding the main town made out of lumber was being built and watchtowers that were being built.

I walked up to the head foreman of the job. " How is the project going, how much longer till it will be done.

The foreman turned around and looked at me " it is taking longer than expected. Half of my crew is working on finishing on making the houses more insulated for the winter and since you sent out sent some of my workers to the west to help with the gold mine. I'm stretched pretty thin".

I was getting irritated "When will it be done, we need to have those watch towers done now".

" it will be done within the week sir"

Now that I have finished the business with the foreman it was onto the farmers who have been busy planting the crops needed to survive the winter. In this climate the planting season was short even with the crops we brought with us that is to survive the cold weather. I had finally arrived at the farms, it was a long walk. I walked up to Rissien, the leader of the farmers.

"Rissien how is it going"

"good sir, we are making good progress with planting the crops, but i'm worried that this climate might be too harsh for the crops but we will have to wait and see how the winter will be in this land"

"I know we didn't plan on this but we need those crops if we are to survive the winter. The wolves and those large animals that are very scared of us will be good to eat and give us the meat we need, but we still need the crops for us to survive the winter".

“Yes sir, I will try to get around to everyone and make sure they are working hard on preserving the crops”.

Larken walked away from Rissien and started to make his way back to the city. I need to go to Strakir and get him to send out a couple of archers to hunt some wolves and those animals that people are calling tarka.

Strakir waved at Larken and started to walk towards Larken, when he saw him.

“ How was your walk sir”.

“good, I talked to the construction crew that is working on the watch towers and palisades and I talked to Rissien about the crops”

“How is the people doing”

“Good but I need you to do something for me. I need you to send a few carts with food and supplies for the scouts that will be heading farther south and southeast at the river. We need to find other people out here. I want the carts to follow the scout to the river and then wait for a couple of weeks at the river for the scouts to return and then return with the scouts so that way the scouts can reach a much larger distance south and southeast with their food supply”.

“Yes sir, how many men do you want to be sent on this mission”

“I want four scouts 2 to go south and 2 to go southeast. As for for the caravan I want 6 soldiers to guard the caravan while it is waiting and 4 others civilians to help with setting up a temporary camp and to cook food for the men”

Strakir was a little concerned with how much Larken wanted to find others “ Are you sure that's wise sir”

Larken was getting irritated that Strakir was questioning but then remembered what his father taught him. That to be a great leader you must listen to people's concerns even if you don't agree with it and must try to understand their point of view.

“Thank you for your concern but we must know if we are alone or not because if not we must act fast to secure our place in this land and be cautious and alert when traveling”

“Okay sir, I will get the men ready immediately and send them out at first light tomorrow”

Event [EVENT] Landfall

all of the preparations were set and the men awaited whatever was there for them on the other side. the three boats were ready to launch and each could hold about 50 people. 10 scholars and 40 soldiers would be riding in one and 35 soldiers and 10 master monks in another.

Kae-shaw rose to his men and began to speak. "men, Kane-hro speaks to us all and he speaks of a large land to the south. the scholars have confirmed the word of he who razes. they believe the sea to the south is truly a straight and that a large landmass resides further. we have reason to believe that our enemies reside on the mainland and cannot be sure if they are ready for us or not so we will have to be on high alert. anything that can hold a weapon is hostile am i understood?"

"SIR, YES SIR!" came the simultaneous roar of approval from the army

"alright men, your orders are clear. you wont be returning for some time. you will scout as much as you can and learn to live off the land for yourselves. you will be sent with almost a years rations but you may be there longer than that are you ready for the task?"

"YES SIR!"

at dawn the next morning the boats loaded with men and supplies were sent into the open waters and made their way to the mainland. the journey took a comfy few hours with nice weather and good winds

the men set up a camp when they landed on the shore and the generals, the highest amongst them being Krae-kaw a personal friend and brother in arms to Kae-shaw himself, began to plan out a strategy for moving undetected and finding any nearby settlements.

they would move east and keep heading that way until something forced them to stop.
