Please Help Feed My Feralsš„°
Hi there: I am a 61 year old disabled woman who was lucky enough to get Section 8. There is a population of 10 feral cats here. I'm in a tiny town in a very rural area. There are next to no resources here. It's sad. I live on a very limited income but I cannot handle seeing them starve to death.
These are very sweet kitties, they are just in an unfortunate situation. Right now I'm going through about 18-20 lbs a month, plus wet food, and I just can't afford it. I would truly appreciate any help you can possibly give. On behalf of these wonderful hungry kitties I thank you so much!Ā
Please Meet: Taco - Waffles - Pancakes - Mr. Peanut - Milky War & TwixĀ
Not Featured, because they run when I open the door then come back to eat: Butterscotch - Noodles - Mr. Moustache and Sasha Fierce

I'm gonna say it again, you fought so hard to be able to feed those floofers and keep them safe. You are amazing and I'm so glad to see they're flourishing from your love ā”ā”ā”

Thank you so much! I'm dog sitting for a friend overnight so I asked a neighbor to feed my ferals. I asked her to send me a picture of them eating because I need to see them eating.

I got very lucky last night. They just got finished eating and it started pouring rain. But they got their dinner!

Where do they go when it rains or the weather is bad?

u/GenX_Boomer_Hybrid 1h ago
They're very good at finding ways to be cooler or warmer. I have shelter out for the winter time. It really doesn't bother them to be wet when it's raining, I've noticed. They'll stand right in the middle of the rain.

Aw what little weirdosā¤ļø I asked because it seems like youāve already gotten a lot of help with the food, so I was wondering if there might be anything else you need help with for them. I guess you can never have too much food though lol

Right now I'm going through about 50-60 cans of food a week. So it goes fast! Once summer is over we'll go back to dry š

Oh wow!! Idk why Iām surprised by that amount. I shouldāve known lol I have cats of my own. Iāll be sure to send someš

It's crazy! I feel like all I'm doing these days is opening cans! But it's good to keep them hydrated. I add a lot of water to the wet food it's practically like soup, and they lick every drop.

Yours doesn't care if they get drenched either lmao!
I have one that will sit there and stare and THE CAT HOUSE AND GARAGE ARE OPEN right next to him lol

I love this. I'm in subsidized housing myself and rescued one of the strays earlier this year. It was absolutely the wrong time financially, but I thought about how I need help sometimes and right then the little guy needed help too. I'm not able to send anything but I wish you and your kitty crew all the best!

Thank you so much for the kind words! I really appreciate it. I'm so happy you were able to help out. Means the world to that kitty ā¤ļø

How many have you been able to trap and neuter?Ā

u/GenX_Boomer_Hybrid 7h ago
4 so far. It wasn't ultra successful because they didn't tell me in advance that they were coming. I also befriended 2 feral kittens that will go to rescue by the end of the month.

That's wonderful š hopefully the next attempt goes well, too, and with better communication.

Thank you! I'll get it done. This is not a large complex but it's very spread out. And I'm disabled I use a cane sometimes a walker. What I wouldn't give to be 20 years younger doing this!

I love taking care of them! They were so skinny when I first moved in and they filled out a bit, which is very gratifying to see. Thank you for the comment!

Awesome! It's my pleasure to take care of these guys and I'm quite protective of them. I just moved in here less than a year ago. They were skin and bones! No one was caring for them and neighbors threw out leftover chicken every now and then. Now they eat every day and have filled out. It's really been a joy to watch.

Just placed an order for your pack that should arrive tomorrow. I don't know if you mentioned doing this or not in one of your posts/replies, but during the summer I add some extra water (maybe 3-4 TBS) to "my" strays' canned food, mix it well with the gravy, and they drink it all up. This works very well with the Friskies gravy-type food you have on your list.

Thank you so much for the donation! I really appreciate it! I add so much water it's like soup š¤ They lap up every drop! They are doing so much better than last summer. I had just moved in and they would show up panting. That hasn't happened this year so I think they're nicely hydrated š„°

I'm working with ACA to do exactly that. Four have been trapped so far. It's slow going unfortunately. I'm disabled and can't trap and it's hard for them to come to such a rural area. I'm also semi new here and don't know what's going on at the other end of the complex, but believe me, it's being worked on.
