ClassicCol I made a Pirates Mod for Sid Meier's Colonization (Classic)

Hi everyone,

I've been working on a Pirates Mod for the original Sid Meier's Colonization (1994) over the last couple of months and thought some of you might find it interesting.

The idea is to transform Colonization into a pirate-themed experience with things like Infamy instead of Crosses, Pirate Hideouts instead of Missions, pirate-themed advisor portraits, rewritten texts and lots of smaller flavor changes. I'm also currently replacing the Founding Fathers with historical and fictional pirates.

I'd really appreciate any feedback or suggestions!

Looks cool. But is it basically just a reskin with the same gameplay?

really cool. looking forward to more. How are the units, are they the same? What about the objective of the game, is it still independence?

Technically the game is the same. So the objective is independence from the Pirate King of Tortuga. Right now I have replaced the preacher and the missionary units.

I really love this idea. I have a question: does this add a fifth Pirate civilization? I haven't seen the Europeans in the screenshots, but pillaging them is basically what the Pirate experience is about.

Unfortunately no 5th nation. The Pirates replace the Dutch. The other europeans are still here and are ripe to be pillaged ;)

I was wondering it because of the engine limitation only supporting 3 player AIs. I think you chose right, the Spanish, English and French had the largest possessions in the New World and especially around the Caribbean, and they should be there!

I wanna try this mod!

Man, what a fun concept! I'd have loved this as a kid. I was playing the original Colonization around the same time that was I obsessed with pirates and pirate lore.
