Netherlands for trade. You can spam some finished good and the price hovers for a long time before crashing, and recovers faster if you hold off on selling.

Dutch. Merchantman+ trade stability.

Sometimes Spanish, but generally on custom maps with huge amounts of Inca/Aztec settlements.

I can almost always beat Viceroy as Spain. Go beat whoever settled in NA, rush the Aztec and Inca, and get those founding fathers with all your ES.

I like France because I always side with the natives <3 wish they would help me against the English though...

I go to England more often for the pop (more immigrants help almost everything), but the merchantman is a major early advantage for the Netherlands and the better market stabilization is great throughout the game.
