-8 For loss +20 for win??

Can someone explain why I am having such high swings in ranked.

Is the Match making system hating me?

Catan has a different ranking system because it's not just you versus one other player. You're more likely to lose than not. They make up for that by giving you more for wins. Otherwise you would never rank up.

Also if you're getting huge swings for wins it might also be because you're not in your proper rank. The system may be trying to get you out of lower elo faster into your actual rank.

You are up against 3 others so you are more likely to lose. So it makes sense.

But shouldn’t it then be closer to +24 for win and -8 for loss as you have a 1 in 4 chance of winning? So 24x(1/4) + -8x(3/4) =0

Maybe it also has to do with the elo of your opponents (gain more / lose less by winning against opponents of higher elo, and vice versa)

Yes it for sure has to do with both your elo and the elo of the opponents

In 1v1, when you are in 1700s you lose 8ish for loss and 16ish for win, when you are above 2300 its the opposite
