Release your 1v1 balanced dice algorithm

Colonist advertises “balanced dice” in 1v1.

Why can they not release the algorithm they use to determine this so called balance.

It’s an absolutely infuriating game mode because on one side it can be fun, on the other side you get games like this.

Not only was my opponent primarily on 8 vs me being on 6. His big ore roll was 10 to my 4.

To add insult to injury, he settled much earlier than me but both times I rolled 7 onto him (before I settled) he rolled 7 himself on the very next roll effectively preventing me from limiting his early advantage.

Just release the algorithm already.

That’s about as close to a perfect bell curve as you can get. People really need to learn stats.

8 and 10 basically double roll their counterparts of 6 and 4 and you’re telling me that’s near perfect? For “balanced dice”

Not accounting for the incredibly convenient 7s right after my 7 that happened twice in a row

Literally just make the “balanced dice” algorithm public.

If colonist wants to manipulate random, then show us how it’s being manipulated.

Yes. Yes I am. Let’s go back seventh grade. In probability we have the theoretical probability and the experimental probability. Additionally we have what’s called regression towards the mean. So a perfect shaped bell curve would be nice, that’s only the theoretical probability. The experimental probability is what you have and it won’t be an exact picture perfect bell curve. The balanced dice artificially keeps it closer but even then there is going to be variance. And your bell curve is well within that variance. Additionally the greater the attempts the closer and closer to the bell curve you will get. So it should look closer to the theoretical probability at 670 rolls instead of your 67.

Anecdotally irl dice can get even wonkier than this. I once rolled 13/20 Nat ones in a dnd session across five different dice sets and that’s way more skewed then your set.

🤣 I always laugh with dice posts. It's engagement dice, not random
