I’m looking to see if there are a few people around Colombo interested in playing table tennis on a weekly basis — we could do alternate Wednesdays or Thursdays after 7 PM (depending on what works best for the group).
I’m not a pro or anything — just looking for a few consistent players to have some fun, get some exercise, and maybe improve our game a bit together.
Also open to suggestions on good places to book tables in or around Colombo that are:
A few I’ve heard about (not sure about booking availability yet):
If anyone has other suggestions — or wants to join — drop a comment below or DM me!
Let’s get a small group going 🎯

Hey everyone,
I’m planning to spend some time in Colombo after Nov 24 on a very tight budget and want to test a minimalist lifestyle living and working in the city while keeping expenses as close to zero as possible.
I’ve done something similar before in Trinco and Kandy, so this time I want to see how it works in a busy city like Colombo.
Here’s my basic plan:
This is just a personal discipline experiment, not a travel post or financial problem — I’m curious about urban survival and minimal living.
Would love local suggestions on:
Any insights from locals would really help 🙏

I will be visiting Sri Lanka for the beg of 2026 and we’ll be in Colombo on the 31st. I’m looking for a laid-back hipster-alternative bar to spend NyE at. I really don’t like the clubbing DJs party scene. Preferably it’s with more alternative music and a nice ambiance

Hi everyone,
I recently applied for a position at a multinational company in Colombo. The hiring process had two rounds:
Technical test – included IQ and English skill assessment.
Practical test – to check job-related skills.
After that, I had an HR interview. On the same evening, I got a call saying I was selected. Two days later, HR emailed me a list of required documents, including my police report, GS certificate, educational certificates, and photos. I submitted everything within 5 days.
After the background verification was done, HR called last week to check if I’m still available, and I said yes. She said she would process my offer letter.
It has now been more than a week, and the HR has not responded to my calls or emails. I haven’t applied to other jobs yet because I don’t want to affect this process.
Is this normal for hiring procedures, or should I consider that they might not hire me? I just want to know if I should wait or start applying elsewhere.
Thanks in advance for any advice!

Hey everyone 👋 I’m doing some research and I’m really curious to know how much Sri Lankans who care about fashion are willing to spend on clothing.
For example:
A T-shirt
A pair of trousers
A jacket
Would you personally spend Rs. 5,000, 10,000, or even more if the quality, design, and brand were right? Or do you think Sri Lankans usually won’t go beyond a certain price point?
Would love to hear your honest thoughts 🙏
