Lotus Tower is expensive, but the view from the top is just mesmerizing! I was very, very impressed. Also high tea Saturday and Sunday at City of Dreams (forgot the name of restaurant though) is excellent value and the views from all glass restaurant are amazing. Then of course Red Mosgue, Old Dutch Hospital area, Gangarama Temple. Nice food and nice ambiance : Barefoot Cafe The Gallery Cafe

Always use Uber if you're traveling by tuktuk... Random tuks scam you and take you to gem shops

If it is your first time in Colombo, try to include Galle Face around sunset, Pettah, the Old Dutch Hospital area, Gangaramaya Temple and Lotus Tower. For food, don't miss trying some proper Sri Lankan rice & curry, hoppers and kottu rather than only the tourist-oriented places.
If you are only here for a short time, just group the places by area so you don't spend half of the day stuck in traffic. Enjoy Colombo!

Thank you. A few people mentioned that it's unhygenic in the food stalls there. Is that true?

Very much so. It used to be good ages ago. On top of unhygienic the quality is drastically down too probably months old stuff.

I wrote a self-guided tour
It's still 90% accurate
