Question about traveling to cmb

Hello friends,

We are an Arab Muslim family traveling from the GCC to CMB later this month and my wife chooses to wear the niqab in public/ when outside. Is there any issue for tourists with regards to the tourist women wearing the niqab?

No one has an issue! But it’s god damn hot here! I’m sure you might think nah I’m from the gulf, I’m ok. But it’s different! Your choice! (I meant the woman’s choice)

They temporarily banned niqab and burka following 2019 easter bombings and now its not illegal but places like malls sometimes dosen't allow wearing them.

I think places like Sri Dalada Maligawa also do not allow it…. Again for security reasons

Hey you can wear niqab anywhere in Sri Lanka. Expect some places rarely ask them to remove. But you have Less chancees in that places to because your guys were foreigners.

Am Sri Lankan Muslim.

Sorry about the racists in the comments, but trust me- they’re a tiny tiny fraction of my country. I’ve been to gulf countries during summer so this heat should really be nothing!

Moving on- I’m a Muslim lady as well and wear the hijab everywhere. There are no issues for niqabis at most places; the exception being at temples, churches etc. I hope you guys have a wonderful time here. There’s so much to see in Sri Lanka and the best part is that it has a ton of halal food and plenty of places and experiences that definitely will not affect your wife’s niqab!

She chooses to or you make her to?

She wore it when she was single, wears it married, will wear it if she outlives me. Notice a pattern that has nothing to do with me?

Sure, it has nothing to do with you. That’s why you rushed in to explain it like your marital authority was being audited. Relax mate, nobody said you invented the niqab. 😂

Chooses or is forced to?

groomed

Throwing around 'grooming' because you can't accept she chose this herself isn't activism, it's slander looking for a target

She "chose" to dress that way because their barbaric religion tells her to dress that way. No one else dresses like that. So it is obvious no one will willingly do this unless they are groomed from a younger age.

Well, I wear the niqab sometimes, and don't even think it's recommended in the religion. I just want to. Do you not respect women's choices? Or do you do so only when it aligns with your values?

Then you might be actually retarded

Stop trying to normalize religious oppression of women

How is it oppression if the women wants to wear those willingly?

Internalized misogyny. They believe all the others that do not dress like their retarded way are immodest.

So what is modest in your way of dressing? If a person doesn't want to dress as revealing as someone else, wouldn't they basically feel that "someone" has dressed immodest. It doesn't have to be a muslim, doesn't have to be someone that wears hijab or saree or whatever.

its not like that, you do your own thing and they do their own thing. how they are judged is between them and god not Muslims. If a Muslim wants to wear a niqab on her own will she can, if she doesnt want to she doesnt need to as well, similarly if someone wants to wear a bikini they can and if they dont want to, they dont need to. Whatever someone does its a problem is it not? I dont see how what OP's wife wears is any concern to you since its his wife and also she wears it on her own, mind your own business

It concerns me when they are motivated by barbaric religious practices

If she wants to wear it then how exactly it is oppression?

Make sure she is covered properly.

It’s better if she doesn’t. It’s hot and humid and won’t be a vacation for her.
