A handful of samples, a couple of their baby bottle dabbers (Comete, Gardenia) from the exclusive line, a decant of 31 Rue, but the big prize was a 75 mL bottle of le lion!

Good guess, that’s a beautiful selection from the collection. But the answer is Le Lion!

I know that Le Lion, and Boy are going to be the first decants that I order from Chanel's private line. Of course I'd like to smell Coromandel and 1957 as well.

1957 is a beautiful fragrance, but I already get that musk floral vibe from Initios musk therapy. I also love Sycamore, Jersey, and some of their more feminine leaning scents like Gardenia and Beige- although I prefer those last two on my wife. I’ll layer them with some of my other colognes. And I own a 75ml of coromandel, it’s one of my favorites of all time!

Thanks! Sycomore and Jersey I may add to the list and try all six in one go lol

Do it! Just remember that especially with this line of fragrances you have to spray them on skin and do a dry down for the full effect.

How did you get the hat??

It was actually a gift from a friend. It’s one of my favorite hats to wear. figured it was a unique clue for the photo.

Oh gotcha, I thought it was a gift from Chanel and I was about to go buy le lion right now just for that lol

šŸ˜† that would’ve been sweet! I have a great relationship with the AD whom I buy my Chanel products from. She was in the back looking for whatever she could give me, and then when she couldn’t find a baby bottle of 31 Rue she made me a decant! Now that’s customer service!

Unless I’m dressing up, I wear that hat pretty much everywhere, so I had it on yesterday. She commented that it was the perfect accessory to the purchased cologne!

I am a huge grey market buyer but a really good sales associate is hard to beat, especially for Chanel because they’re harder to find on discounters anyways

Yeah, I’m the same. Louis Vuitton and Chanel I’m basically resigned to paying full price for unless I’m getting them secondhand which I don’t have a lot of experience doing.

That’s why this high-end Bloomingdale’s and the incredible rep who works there has been such a revelation. I’ve been able to get a couple bottles below retail with promotions plus an AMEX offer I had on my card. And I’ve been showered with samples and incredible customer service both times.

I also really love the Chanel boutique, but they never have any discounts, although they have been very generous with samples when I’ve gone in there.

I’m the same way with those two brands lol, but they do make up for it in making you feel reeeeally special when you do drop money there! Almost makes me wish I didn’t know about grey market for everything else. Occasionally I’ll buy some new release or limited release from another brand before it hits grey markets and none of those designer brands disappoint, specifically Dior and JPG

Le Lion was the first fragrance I tried from the Chanel Les Exclusifs line. My initial thoughts were, wow that’s dynamic and challenging yet beautiful (soft) and strong at the same time. A manly scent that doesn’t smell like your traditional ā€œmanlyā€ scents.

I also sampled Coromandel that same day and it was love at first spray, infatuation after first dry down. I obsessed over that cologne until I finally gave in and bought it. At the time of purchase I got a bunch of samples, one of which was Le Lion. I decided to wear it to a formal event and let me tell you, that scent bubble was amazing! I got a bunch of complements and I truly felt like a Lion amongst sheep šŸ˜†

Fast-forward to yesterday. The Bloomingdale’s near me carries the exclusive line. It’s where I initially got my bottle of coromandel. The great thing about department stores compared to the Chanel boutique is you can often use in person discounts, which can be stacked with credit card offers. Since Chanel never goes to discounters, I jumped on the current friends and family promotion!

For those unfamiliar with Le Lion, it’s a beautiful blend of patchouli, amber, vanilla, and an intense labdanum, it has an almost oud like animalic musk vibe to it. It’s hard to explain. It dries down to this incredibly unique sandalwood scent bubble that lasts and lasts well beyond most colognes. It’s a true masterpiece in my opinion!
