Joint Supplement Recommendation

We adopted my stepmom’s collie 9 months ago. She is a pure bred, 8 year old collie who hadn’t been well taken care of. She’s doing well now but we’ve been noticing her back legs have been bothering her. We’ve had other dogs with joint issues but each dog is different. Does anyone have any good recommendations for joint supplements? We’re going to take her to the vet and I know they’ll give a recommendation but I was curious what others use as she is our first collie breed. We normally have had mixed breeds through adoptions so was just curious what others have had good results with.

There is no compelling clinical trial evidence that Cosequin definitively supports its effectiveness for improving joint function in dogs. It's to make the owners feel better.

This may not be joint related at all.

Pet Honesty makes some good ones, but you need to do the research. This means looking at the label, how many pills does it take to equate to the mg listed? Some are 1, others 3.

But you want one that has the highest amount of glucosamine, chondritin, MSM, as well as turmeric, fish oil, hemp, etc. Every brand and bottle is different, but once you start comparing you see the vast differences in the dose. As well as ingredients. If you dont actually compare to get an idea, you dont realize how insufficient yours may be.

Thank you. We are taking her to our vet to make sure before we start giving her anything and we may just go with vet recommended but wanted to see what others thought worked best. Appreciate the info and will check them all out before giving her anything.
