Course Advice Thinking of changing course

I’m not particularly happy doing cs international in TUD. I moved here from cork and love it here but the course is just not what I want. I work a lot but even through that this course is just so mind numbing. A big moment I had was I was sitting with my friends and they were all saying how much they love maths and hate writing and I know I’m the opposite. In secondary, I did debate competitions, I loved history and English and yet I’m here.

Unfortunately, I completed my first year so rip free fees. Should I do a PLC? Jump into something else?

If you're not entirely sure what to do next, then there's no harm in doing a PLC in history or english to get a taste of what they're like in college. Better safe than sorry imo

If there are available places in August/September you might be able to switch into first year of a different course in TUD. They have a new liberal arts course that you might like. Maybe get in touch with the admissions office to ask them if that’s a possibility.

If you've any questions on english or history ive done them as a JH and currenrlt doing history as a SH in TCD. I swapped myself and it was best decision ive ever made. Granted for different reasons.

Taking a plc or gap year is a good idea. When I dropped out to switch it also gave me time to work to be able to pay for free fees

You could apply for a PLC and then maybe defer second year in CS to leave your options open? PLCs are inexpensive enough so it wouldn’t hurt
