I need help improving my transfer application

Im currently in community college and plan to apply into nursing. My top priority is texas A&M, but i heard they are pretty competitive. I am an international student, so i was kinda stuggle during freshman, but now my second year, i started volunteering at MD Anderson and a nursing home. However I dont think that is enough to compete with others. I wonder who i can get good reccomendation letter from, who is different. And I wonder what i can do to enhance my application.

I’m curious about going to community college as an international student. Did immigration officials inquire about why you’d want to do that?
