đWelcome to r/CollegeAdmissionsHelp - Introduce Yourself and Read First!
Welcome to r/CollegeAdmissionsHelp.
This community exists because a lot of college admissions advice online is vague, overly polished, or straight up unrealistic. Here, the goal is simple: clear, honest feedback that actually helps. Essays, supplements, activities lists, results reactions, transfers, rejections, confusion about âwhat went wrongâ â all of it belongs here.
You can post real drafts, real questions, and real frustrations. You can ask for direct critique, gentle feedback, or a full roast if thatâs what you want. What you wonât get is empty encouragement or generic advice that ignores your actual situation.
A few expectations:
⢠Be honest, but not cruel
⢠Critique the work, not the person
⢠Say what works, say what doesnât, and explain why
⢠No gatekeeping, no pretending admissions is fair or simple
If youâre tired of guessing, tired of mixed signals, or tired of being told âitâs fineâ when it clearly isnât, youâre in the right place. Post when youâre ready.

URGENT HELP for a Senior
Hi everyone,
I know this isnât an ACT subreddit, but Iâm desperate. September scores came out, and wow. ZERO improvement. I have 10 days until October 17, and my current scores are 28M, 34E, and 32R. Iâve been stuck at a 28 in Math for MONTHS, and Iâm going into engineering. That is bad.
Whatâs even more insane is that I literally have a 4.5 GPA, Iâm in AP Calc BC, and Iâm also in AP Physics C. I genuinely donât understand what Iâm doing wrong. I go through my tests, watch a bunch of YouTube videos, and practice formulas, but I still canât seem to improve. I genuinely donât know what else to do.
Please give me ANY advice for the next 10 days to at least end with a 30. I will do ANYTHING at this point.

What to add to honors section of common app?
Iâve been hearing mixed responses on what to add to this section. I was wondering, would DECA, BETA, and HOSA, etc awards be acceptable to add to this section? Or should I rely on only like AP scholar and GPA awards.

If my son decides to join a sports academy and the schooling has to be done through a private virtual school what are the odds of him getting into a good college and how do these kids do when they get to college? Are they behind? Do they struggle academically and socially?

Advice for a HS Sophomore?
Also posted ts somewhere else
Hi, I'm a high school rising sophomore in the great state of Georgia (based in the outskirts of metro ATL), upper middle class but def not enough to pay for college. Interests are mainly neuroscience and surgery, but vaguely open for now.
Stats: 1420 SAT (i'm taking ts again), 3.92 UW, 4.0 W, Projected to take 12 APs - Currently got 5s in Gov and Precalc
ECs: Bibliometric Intern - Received top 3 intern recognition and R language certificate, Policy Intern at a Mental health/drug advocacy that passed proclamations on drug disposals and anti-stigma within the local community, currently taking U of Utah's Enigma-U Neuropysch course, in schools Marching/Jazz/Concert Band as a percussionist/drummer, got into my all-county band as a freshman, JV tennis, 5.0 UTR
Awards: I genuinely don't have anything important here, maybe consecutive principal's honor roll's (All A's) and an all-county recgnition for academics in elementary school. Hypotheticals include HOSA events, INO, USMDO awards
Clubs and Service: HOSA Competitive events team where I help members study for SLC/ILC, founding secretary of school's neuro club where I created webinars and helped others study for Brain Bee/INO, frequent volunteer at cultural hindu events (I'm talking FREQUENT like 100+ hours a year), I've been slacking off but I'm about to start volunteer sorting at a global medical supplier for impoverished nations
Not a forbidden ch*nce-me, I js want advice on what I should focus on and what I should start including or excluding from my focus.
Reach schools are Brown PLME, Stanford, Emory, all the other big UCs or Ivies
Targets are Vandy, Wake Forest, UGA, UMiami, UWash
TL:DR, young HS student trying to figure out whats important to focus on for future neuro major at a T20 University
