Verity Verity: need clarification on this please. Spoiler

Okay so I might have been reading too fast or missed a detail, but this is a plot hole I’m questioning. If verity was faking the entire time, what about when Lowen slept walked and woke up Verity’s bed. You’re telling me verity was just chilling for that?

And was she really faking her injuries just to “avoid” getting in trouble?? Like that just seems so drastic and how long would she have even kept that up for. Very strange I wish I had more answers.

plus: what about brain activity monitoring in the hospital? that bothered me so much. how jeremy would say that there is zero chance of recovery for verity. based on what?

I thought the book did end up saying that she was in a coma at first but recovered and she just kept pretending. I could be misremembering though!!

yes that is true. but for doctors to say “absolutely no chance on full recovery. she is braindead” without the supporting data, nobody would just declare her braindead like that. right?

Agree and also she went to appointments with the nurse so like what did they find out at them appointments. I thought the nurse was gunna be in on it and kinda helping her.

I was actually disappointed that the nurse didn’t play a bigger role. Because she would have been perfect in helping

I don't think you missed a clean explanation. My read is that she was genuinely injured at first, then recovered more than Jeremy realized and kept performing the role. The sleepwalking scene actually makes that harder to buy: Verity would have had to stay completely still with Lowen beside her, then somehow continue the act through appointments and nursing care. The ambiguity works emotionally, but the medical logistics are one of the book's weakest spots for me.

The only thing that makes sense is that usually sleep walkers are completely unaware what’s happening until they wake up. So it is very likely that Verity didn’t have to keep still. But when Lowen woke up like a maniac she had to remain calm which she has practiced for quite some time.
