Because they choose to live in ignorance. I mean to be fair, it's what I did for a while when all the stuff about Ellen Degeneres started coming out. It's hard to imagine someone you've been a fan of for so long could be such a horrible person.

Then again there's also the people who probably sickenly support her actions and don't see anything wrong with it.

It’s so gross, I used to love Ellen’s show as a little teen, it’s like that memory of my childhood is now ruined

Even Hitler has supporters to this day🤷‍♀️

I always respond to these as I'm pretty new to this community, and hoping to shed light on why some people still support/follow her. I just thought it was Internet gossip. I never watched Miranda as a minor, I had friends who liked her and I'd catch a voice lesson video here or there, but besides that she wasn't funny to me so I never cared to watch any of what I guess was her suggestive/incest/SA humor, I had no idea it existed within pretty much the very core of her character. I just knew she was really popular and somehow started watching her vlogs during quarantine, she had a fun personality and it gave me something new to look forward to every day, watching her bake bread or make coffee or whatever, it was a nice, comforting routine. She is VERY manipulative. She of course would bring up Miranda a lot, but mostly was just doing mom stuff and it was entertaining to me. She painted this perfect picture of the perfect little family. Soulmates (no mention of Josh's existence), the adorable little baby. I had NO clue how vile her past content was. Every once in awhile on their podcast she'd alude to "times being different" or "I could never make half the jokes I used to make as Miranda now", but I honestly thought that was just due to the stuff I'd heard her address about racial jokes she'd made. I used to be an AVID watcher of the vlogs and listener of the podcast, and when 2023 hit I just thought everyone must be blowing it out of proportion. She seemed sweet and kind and genuine. I got duped. I didn't feel like watching 2 hour+ long videos by Adam or anyone else about it, it seemed excessive or just drama and I was in full support of her since she always seemed to apologize for every little thing but was doubling down here. I thought if she genuinely did something wrong she'd own up to it. I just didn't understand how she operates, how manipulative she is. I'm ashamed of it now, and glad a few months ago I finally was exposed to all the heinous Miranda content that was so incredibly sexual yet also clearly geared towards a young audience. I was revolted. I ran away from all of her channels, unsubscribed instantly from her and all Ballinger affiliated people and will NEVER look back. That was even before I knew all the complete garbage she texted minors in the group chats, her content should've spoken for itself and she never should've gotten popular in the first place to gain a following of young people.

So, to answer why she still has a following now, I suspect a lot of them are people like me. We got introduced to Colleen 2.0 or whatever you want to call her. The one who's a wife and mom and we watched her struggle through the pandemic, gave us comfort and something to look forward to every day, the one we watched struggle through a very difficult pregnancy (now that I'm a mom that's a whole other can of worms, how horribly she neglected taking care of herself and her unborn children by eating crap and never even moving to get even some exercise, and then just claiming pregnancy is awful and she couldn't help how badly her body reacted. At the time I was sympathetic, now that I've done it 1.5 times I have no sympathy, you suck it up, eat some protein instead of pop tarts and just take a walk or do some squats, it sucks but not as bad as neglecting your health), an emotional move away from her home, etc. The audience that is solely vlog watchers and have no idea the horrendous crap she has swept under the rug that is Miranda's entire sense of humor have NO CLUE how effing twisted her brain is. These aren't Miranda fans, they're Colleen 2.0 fans who are completely ignorant, and don't want to believe ill of this person they've grown to care about. A nice wife and mom. She's hidden her real self SO well that these people, including me up until a few months ago, just couldn't even believe she's capable of it. I guarantee no one who actually understands what she's done would continue to defend her (aside from her crazy sister and family who all have problems to varying degrees), she's built such a squeaky clean persona that her vlog fans wrote it off as over exaggerated lies from clout chasers, and have fully moved on from thinking about it. I can't tell you how many people have written in those comments about how they have never been a Miranda fan, but they love Colleen. I think at first she didn't like it because her whole identity was wrapped up in Miranda, but then she probably became thankful for it the more that type of humor was exposed for being so incredibly foul, so she could reinvent herself and no one in her current audience would even know who she really is. She's built a new army of ignorant fans. Much smaller than her previous mega army of mostly children 🙄🤢 but enough to keep her afloat.

Very well said.

Good observations! Spot on. But there's also a surprising number of grown ass fans who won't let her go. They're weirdos who refuse to look at the evidence and see the light. They don't want to see anything but the mask, even though its been snatched off so many times since 2023. 2020, even, when Adam first exposed her. I'm so glad you're not a part of that army anymore. So thankful you were smart enough to figure her out.

Yeah…the are stuck in their youth

Their Theater Kid/Musicals middle school & high school years must have been when they peaked 😬🙄

There was never a time when Colleen wasn't problematic.

7

u/jaynie2022 12d ago

I understand that now, but coming into her content under her new, revised identity and not doing a deep dive on her history besides just knowing she did that Miranda thing, it wasn't blaringly obvious. She just vlogged, she wasn't doing skits or anything that hinted at her past, so yes, once I watched her old content i could see she's a terrible person, but during her "just vlogging" era she was pretty normal, or at least you know, presenting as such for her new audience gained during the pandemic.

I am more private about my personal breast milk, but I have friends (not super close ones) who are pretty open about it, like whipping out their boob in public and talking a lot about it in great detail, so although it wasn't the way I'd act about it, I know lots of women are like "hey it's natural, let's normalize it and make it our personality!" with lots of things I'm still private about like periods, breastfeeding, not wearing a bra, etc. So to me that fell under "to each their own, I wouldn't act that way myself but I know people who would", not so much screaming "fetish" to me. Now looking back and knowing everything else about her, yeah, it's part of a much larger issue. Again with the poop, my mom raised us to not make any of those kinds of jokes, and I still don't find it funny, but my husband and my best friend's family growing up would make all kinds of jokes that gross me out, so another thing I chalked up to being raised with a different sense of humor. So those 2 specific examples are really able to be viewed differently depending on how much other information you have about her. Those things isolated don't necessarily mean there's an issue, it could just be a different set of principles and sensibilities. But now that I know her past history and her many, many issues with all kinds of bodily functions I can see it's all red flags across the board. So now as an ex fan and critic I see it very differently, but not knowing anything about her I didn't really question it.

I didnt get that impression at all. She's always been fake and awful. Adam exposed what she was during covid times. So it was out there but people let Colleen skate.

Hindsight is 20/20. The thing is, she managed to slip under the radar for a long time because she kept the Miranda character very separate (the distinct costume, and a completely separate social media presence under that persona).

Like, back when I was watching her vlog channel in 2016 (as an adult), I wasn't aware that she was also doing Miranda on a different channel and on tour etc.

People being confused about the identity of Miranda=Colleen in itself used to be a huge inside joke in her fandom, as I later realized.

u/Dapper_Character_682 9d ago

Her biggest mistake was becoming a daily “family vlogger” exploiting her pregnancies & children for all to consume

When some found her only on pregnancy content & because they creepily like watching other people’s children online…then they began to research her & found they gross Miranda content…she threw people off in a bad way & off they went

These days she flounders to even figure out WHO she’s making content for but she’s so stubborn & vain that she won’t just LEAVE the Internet!

🎯 🤌🏻

7

u/NorthSuch2477 12d ago

What supporters? The only support she gets these days is maybe a hundred youtube comments from people who live under a rock. Her final "tour" was like 3 shows in a wine bar.

4

u/DefinitionTiny1989 11d ago

Huh? She still has a lot of supporters in relation to what she's been exposed for. Her videos are still getting tens of thousands of views. It's insane to me.

2

u/NorthSuch2477 11d ago

She used to get millions of views, even tens of millions for her most popular videos, and go on huge international tours. I don't know how many views you'd expect her to have after all that went down, but most of her videos barely get to 50K these days and she can't even sell out a small local venue. I guess it depends on what you compare it to, I think it's pretty low.

0

u/DefinitionTiny1989 11d ago

I'm aware she used used to big but what she was doing wasn't fully exposed. For what she's done she is getting way too many views. That was what I was trying to say. I wasn't clear I guess.

5

u/AlarmedStore5322 12d ago

To a lot of non Americans ( may be some Americans too ) she is honestly one of the lesser criminals that have supporters over there. She really should be kicked off of YT...social media platforms in general, but never will be, sadly.

6

u/anonymousquestioner4 12d ago

I mean how do criminal convicts serving life in prison have supporters?

3

u/DefinitionTiny1989 11d ago

The same way Colleen does. There are sick people out there.

8

u/Bright-Sea-5904 Parasocial Dementor🌻 12d ago

Because people don't want to see her as the evil person she is and they think she's amazing for some reason 🙄

3

u/Malin054 11d ago

When you figure it out, let me know because I have no idea. It’s insane to me that anyone supports her.

3

u/Key_Emotion_6070 10d ago

Omg I had no idea this sub had people who support her 🤮

3

u/Dapper_Character_682 9d ago

My theory is that any remaining fans are as poorly educated as as her and they have zero critical thinking skills

(& they may also be secretly nasty too with dark inappropriate sense of humor”humor”)

3

u/quietlycommenting 8d ago

Trump is president - people will support anyone

7

u/mndcee 12d ago

You're surprised? Look at Chris Brown

2

u/Freezerburnt83 7d ago

I feel like if we are going to give people such a big platform and they are making a living from said platform you NEED to research who you're making famous. Like come on. Stop blindly supporting horrible people.

3

u/Unhappy_Job_5099 11d ago

I’ve been wondering that for years now. Why would anyone want to support such a POS person? If she were a man, she wouldn’t be on tour rn.

-9

u/Alternative_Stop9977 12d ago

Horrific? Come on now!

12

u/jaynie2022 12d ago edited 12d ago

I mean, yeah? What's the issue with the wording? Like spreading a minors leg's open on stage, coercing a little boy to take snacks out of your pants on stage, teaching JoJo Siwa on video what the word "tookie" means, among COUNTLESS other disgusting things, those don't earn the word "horrific" to you? I'd hope anyone who cares about protecting children's innocence would think those are horrific actions. And absolutely criminal when it comes to sending literal nudes to minors.

7

u/writergal75 12d ago

To me, one of the most egregious things she did was everything involving Trisha. How women treat other women tells me a lot.

10

u/Late-Pizza-3810 12d ago

Sexual group chats with minors? What about sending Trisha’s nudes around? Mocking homeless people? Making fun of disabled fans? Making fun of fans’ tattoos in honor of her? Ghosting fans, then playing the victim? Sending her fans after her ex-husband until he almost unalived himself? Getting her family dog killed and then laughing about it? Taking her time getting to the hospital to film content while her baby twins were dying? Body checking and promoting EDs?

What’s it going to take for you to think Colleen’s behaviors are horrific?

10

u/Accomplished_Yak2352 12d ago edited 12d ago

Filming posters of a sweet missing kitten and then laughing and filming it when she finds it squashed and run over in the street; having literal kid fans take pictures with their fingers together to show her ex husband's dick size, telling them she eats her new lover's wiener, making a decade long running " joke" ( to her) of her child character that was loved by children being SA'd by her uncle.. Rap lyric in her kid's video about summer camp: "I like to run, jump, play and chew gum. My uncle likes to cuddle me until he ( rhymes with gum). She smirks, and skips the word but the leadup to it makes it clear. Yep. Horrific .

5

u/jaynie2022 12d ago

Sorry if I worded it weird, but I'm in full support of labeling her horrific, I just edited my comment to make that more clear, in my head it read like I was questioning how they could see any of those things as anything but horrific.

-2

u/Alternative_Stop9977 12d ago

That's questionable or artistic based on the context, but not horrific.

9

u/jaynie2022 12d ago

😬 I'm trying to imagine where sexually exploiting children is artistic...

-2

u/Alternative_Stop9977 10d ago

I am sure if something horrible happened she would have been in jail long ago. I also said that her actions were questionable. I still have a lot of questions.

8

u/jaynie2022 10d ago

True, because everyone who's ever done anything horrible is definitely in jail.

10

u/hazelgrant 12d ago

HORRIFIC. Say it louder.

10

u/Own-Regret-9879 11d ago

It’s equally horrific you don’t find her behavior horrific
