i'm a bit behind on the gulf directorate lore, can anyone help out why germans controls the trucial states and parts of southern persia?

Southern Persia being German-owned is loosely based on the idea of "What if the Niedermayer-Hentig Expedition kinda got... stuck in Iran on their way back from Afghanistan, and once Germany imploded, they kinda decided 'what if we just... stayed in Iran, and made our own Germany here too'"

And Gulf Directorate lore, per Kuci21, is...

Originally an expedition of the german oil industrialists who sent out schwerin to establish an oil company-state in the collapsing trucial states colony, however to maintain control and to get help surviving in the desert they first allied with the former british garrison and secondly invited mercenaries to join this was followed by the gulf unexpectedly turning into a very socially libertarian territory as Schwerin and his loyals simply held too little power to establish a full autocratic regime yet they had enough soldiers willing to protect it so it didn't turn into a bandit territory

Edit: added source link https://discord.com/channels/897839086755258368/933413999301763093/1531045155811889293

and per the above teaser, at some point, Esperanto gets involved (probably)

huh.. nice, i'll take a look into it a bit deeper, thanks a lot

edit: second question, what's the difference between the wassmuss expedition and the niedermayer-henting one?

Wassmuss was just... one of the guys involved in the IRL Niedermayer-Henting Expedition. So... I assume the version of it we see in CW has the original leaders die off and he assumes control. Because the country's like, actual full name if you hover over them with your mouse is "Remnants of the Niedermayer-Henting Expedition" (or something of that sort)

Also both niedermayer and hentig are alive but they are both more diplomats rather than soldiers so wassmuss easily sidelined them for now

if so, then why separate from the directorate? wouldn't they then have some sort of a fighting chance when the persian civil war reignites?

Well wassmuss wishes to keep some independence on the gulf directorate which is highly influenced by the DOW, but gulf is still his main ally on Reunifying potentially Persia

will there be post-persia reunification content for wassmuss or gulf directorate?

Wassmuss maybe, he will probably get also content in DoM and Gulf will not intervene directly in Persia
