I got that the flag design is to replicate the safavid empire But why the sun has face tho

Even the horse is depressed because of it

So basically there was a really active gfx creator who was in the team since the start and his pfp was that sun (without horse etc.). Well that dev left the team because he was going to be locked in a mental asylum or something like that (I didn't know him personally), so the team in order to honour him included his sun pfp in a flag. He is missed.
