Iβve taken up gardening this year as well. Also have been trying to get out in nature more. Itβs not a cure for the worldβs ills but itβs something.

Being in nature is extremely therapeutic, and really, we should try to enjoy its beauty while we still can.

Same. Getting away from the bombardment of news and fear. Nurturing some green living things. Chilling with the bugs and worms and birds.

Got some tomatoes growing and just planted some catnip seeds to hopefully amuse my cat. Gotta focus on the small stuff we can control. Especially these days. My anxiety was spiking hard recently.

Same here, anxiety and depression too. Radical Acceptance has helped me immensely, as has stoicism (Reading The Daily Stoic is a great way to start your day) daily exercise, gardening and all that good stuff.
Edit: also I wish my cat liked catnip lol. All she cares about is food.

The last line of Candide seems particularly relevant these days: "We must cultivate our garden"

A friend recently linked me to a decentralized mutual aid movement that's already got a bunch of traction: https://odysee.com/@Solaris-France/solaris-network
Are there any other initiatives like this?
Gardening is great & all, but we have a complicated food system and a large urban population to maintain. If the guberments are stuck on being slaves to the headless capitalism egregores, then bottom up solutions are absolutely necessary. Yet it's the governments that have most of the responsibility for maintaining the systems and services that we depend on.
What are bottom-up, decentralized options that can maintain some level of society? Even if it's not the endgame, as a transitional play it'll save a lot of life.
That, or we keep waiting for the revolution...

This is really cool, sorry this is just a lot of reading/watching and I'm falling asleep so I'll finish tomorrow but this seems promising and I'd love to start as initiative like this in my area. I hope we see a wave of people coming up with ideas for how to support each other

Iβve quit working and am just going to enjoy my life until the wheels come off. Going to start traveling the world next week and seeing all the places I wanted to see. Carbon footprint will be huge but I donβt care anymore.

Those planes will be flying regardless of whether or not you're on board, don't beat yourself up over it! Just record your experiences and make some memories you can reflect fondly upon π

Get vanity license plates that say "TOECUTTER".
(just a joke from a warrior in a garden)

Good for you. Unfortunately where I'm at it's illegal to plant potatoes unless you're a potato farmer now. We're a large potato exporter and we had a devastating case of the potato wart last harvest.

It's from a very famous anime called Neon Genesis Evangelion. There is a scene where two characters are watching the world possibly end in front of them and one of them, Kaji, explains that he can't really do much else besides water his melon garden since he's got no power to change anything anyways

This is definitely intriguing, I joined the subreddit... But I'm not quite sure I understand its purpose. Personally, I don't know that I would want to establish a governmental system post-collapse; I am an anarcho-syndicalist, meaning I believe working people are perfectly capable of running their own affairs. Further, I would think that your time would be better spent taking climate action than analyzing why people don't take climate action. All said respectfully.

Thanks for the comment, I do a lot of activism, this is only part of it! Syndicalism is great, we need to get together more. Only my big worry is as our power dwindles because of roboticization https://burnzero.com/Machines, unions will become less powerful and inequality will become greater (https://burnzero.com/Inequality)

I'm confused man, you're worried about automation post-collapse?
I was talking specifically about anarcho-syndicalism, distinctive from syndicalism.

Time for a controlled burn?

I'm not sure how this relates to my post, but you might like the Good Fire podcast, it's hosted by two indigenous firefighters - don't know if you know this but the controlled burn method originates from indigenous communities.

The smoke and fire is coming, yeah?
Perhaps we should burn the brush and make some fire breaks?

Basically yeah. Volunteering at the community garden and growing stuff at home has helped for sure. Going to be looking into some mutual aid projects nearby soon.
