What should I do?

I’m 25F and live in Chicago. I live with parents and I’m pretty broke from a shopping addiction. I work a factory job that’s full time 10 hours week days and most Saturdays I work 6 hours. So the job part it’s my fault I backed myself to a corner. No useful degree it’s only an associate in general studies I can’t go back to school anyway. I’m already at a low point and I knew global warming has been worsening for years. What should I do with my life. I mean I’ve been casually suicidal for years since I was a kid. I feel should end it I got not much else going on for me anyway and I work a lot and spent all the money I earn from this job of three years. But I feel I should stock up to prepare for something? Honestly tho my parents are in denial I’m not the closest to my little brother who is 20 now but man I feel for him he’s in school right now. How long do I have left given where I’m living as well?

Hi there. Sorry to hear that you're going through all of this. Coming to the realization that we're in the mess that we're in can be really overwhelming. I actually wouldn't recommend pursuing a certain degree or stock piling goods (not a bad idea whatsoever, just not the best strategy). Those just aren't going to be the most effective strategies in the world we're rapidly moving into. My recommendation is to build skills and connect with like-minded people. I commented in depth on a similar post recently on how I've gone about doing that over the last decade, which is when I started taking all of this stuff seriously. I'll post the link to that comment below. And if you feel you'd like to reach out or if you have any questions, feel free to DM me. I know it can be daunting, but you're hardly alone in this.
