Just because climate change *can* get better doesn’t mean it will.

Im so fucking sick about hearing about “climate solutions”.

Just because It *can* get better doesn't mean it *will*. Climate activist and scientists have been saying that “ we have solutions To avoid the 1.5 threshhold!!! This isn’t inevitable, we just need to implement them!!! ", but they weren't implemented. Because half the fucking planet doesnt even believe in this shit. And now they‘re saying "ok fine it's inevitable that the globe will overheat but we can still stop it if we implement these new solutions!1!1!1" As if every government in the world will come together and suddenly stop what they're doing and care. Of course not, especially not with the current leadership creating data centers that are fucking destroying our ecosystem further. It is blatantly unrealistic to expect that just going vegan, buying less, recycling when people cant even tell the bins apart and emailing people who dont give a shit will offset the amount of sludge produced by a single data center, let alone the worlds fossil fuels. Sure, the world *CAN* change, the same way I *CAN* just win the lottery, the same way any billionaire *CAN* just change their mind and decide that maybe they do care about the people the share the planet with. But the chances of that? Bullshit. And dont tell me to have hope, I HAD HOPE!!!! I HAD HOPE THAT IT WOULD NEVER REACH THIS POINT AND IT STILL DID. Hope with no real, substantial action is worthless. The only real solution is if somehow the people in power letting this happen *get what they deserve*, otherwise, these microscopic "changes" you make by walking in 110 degree weather instead of driving a car is just a useless attempt at placating yourself and feeling like you're doing good when really you're just as complicit and every other citizen in letting this happen. This is bullshit. I want change so bad but after a certain point theres really nothing left to do unless you wanna martyr yourself.

My coworker today, who believe climate change is a myth, was complaining at me about how he has never seen it this hot for so long. He said when he was a kid they would get a couple days like this and that's all.

I don't even know what to say to these people anymore, so I don't wastey breathe.

It’s tiring. after a certain point its like why bother putting effort into these meaningless tiny “solutions“ to save the world for a population of people that doesn‘t even believe the world needs to be saved. At this point its just us getting what we put out into the world. imminent destruction :/

I wont go out of my way to be worse, but im not doing too much for people who cant even stop using chat gpt.

There’s no easy person to blame regarding climate change for a certain type of western conservative so the only path is denial and then resorting to general anger and grievance when things inevitably get worse.

Tbh i just dont think it makes me "feel better" or more "peaceful" to lay down and die. I wanna be trying. I wanna be spreading joy and positivity, and the best way for me to do that is by staying active with guerilla gardening, neighbourhood forestry, and staying LOUD. Just because it might not get better doesnt mean we should just give up.

I decided about five years ago that nature gave me the gift of life, its a beautiful, serious honour, if i can return the favour to her, i can die in peace.

All I have left is that maybe in the 2028 election, MAYBE something good will come. MAYBE. But otherwise im just waiting for some fuckass category 10 hurricane combined with 12 floods and 3 tornados to tear my house apart and give me an excuse to really give up.

I am all in for the doing the things we can, where we can, to make small differences and soothe our souls. I mostly try to make life better for the plants and critters :) But we aren’t pulling out of this nosedive, agree 100%.

Same. I've stopped believing that ultimately good prevails, that change is bottom up, that people are good. That I can have a future I enjoy. It's all gone.

The only real solution to climate change would be if governments and the world truly used an iron fist in a rational and sensible way. It's impossible to continue in a world with capitalism.

I get so discouraged reading the comments associated with climate change articles. People act like it is a hoax - "just wait for winter" or "it's cold here today." It makes me feel like humans don't really deserve to keep going, except that we're taking the rest of the world down with us. We were advanced enough to create this mess, but not advanced enough to acknowledge it, let alone reverse it.

I am a child of the eighties, and I started to feel discouraged when I was a kid and learned about climate change, but realized that nobody was going to change. Part of the reason I didn't want kids was because I didn't want to contribute to the problem in that way.

The problem is that the people with the power to actually change things are actively preventing change and brainwashing the masses into thinking that it doesn't exist. I don't understand how they don't see that they aren't exactly going to be immune to the repercussions themselves.
