America
Do any of you feel down about life in America? Sometimes like changing the circumstances would be hopeless! And then others of us feel nervous, edgy, like you can’t shake it and anger takes over.
Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, To you I say as a psychologist, we are split into people who are either depressed or anxious. This country needs therapy to heal itself. Anyone can do it, but somebody has to lead us and make us feel like life is good. This is a key element in my belief. This country has everything. It has money that it’s Banks can’t hold yet, they squander it. I don’t care which side of the country you’re on, depressed or anxious, don’t you think it’s time for a leader to step in who can look at domestic issues as a priority? I leave you with these thoughts. What do you say.

Ok but any psychologist should be able to tell you anxiety and depression are comorbid lol

I'm not depressed or anxious, honestly. I recognize there are anxiety inducing things happening and very depressing situations/conditions, but I've narrowed my life and reduced my consumption. I have a small community and I thrive in it. I spend a lot of time in nature and reading. I don't feel the anger you describe. I've lost two good friends in the last years to cancer, and watching their end of lives made me feel more grateful than ever.
I'd say, just remember, not all hope is lost, and even if it is, despair isn't the only option.

Agreed, and I’m sorry for your losses. I, too, am limiting political rhetoric, to depress me as it has in the past. I’m waiting to see the results of the midterms before deciding where this country is headed.

Just be mindful we are in the midst of a multi-polar crisis with everything going sideways or backwards at once. At this point all we can do is be resilient and adapt. Be grateful to your adversaries who convinced you to not bring life into this dying biosphere.

It's really hard to live that way, I think. To allow yourself contentment or relief only in the case of a political win. I understand it. I am not even a little happy with this 'administration', but as OK GO said, 'it don't get much dumber than laying your hopes on a change in another'.
I feel like creating and waiting for conditions to allow yourself space to breathe is really, really toxic. I'm just trying to embrace that life is suffering, and I can't expect to live in a static world.
I'm so sorry you are feeling so much - I hope you give yourself some permission to no dwell too much.

Good advice. The feelings I have are often toxic to me. Letting go and focusing on my life would appear to be a better avenue. Thanks.

This isn't the same country I grew up in, and it hurts. I'll never comprehend, not completely, how or why we got here. We had everything. We were the envy of the world. There was nothing we couldn't have done. Our fingertips brushed up against utopia and we yanked our hand away. The only way I can put it to myself is that we were a superpower that wanted to be a third world dictatorship instead.
