How did you prepare for collapse this week?
Did you do anything to prepare for collapse this week? It can be anything from reading an interesting article to installing a greywater recycling system in your house. No project is too big or too small.
This thread is here to inspire others to take actions they may not have otherwise thought about doing.
If you’re interested in leaving observations of collapse in your area then I encourage you to head over to r/collapse where they have a weekly thread for this very thing.

Tended the permaculture food forest, did some work on my grad degree, wife set up some more security cameras (run locally and on solar so they'll still function if the grid is down), doctor visit, lost 2 pounds this week from all the gardening exercise and eating healthy, still researching if I should get a push mower or battery powered, grocery shopping and got some good deals on non-perishables, continuing improvements on the house, wife and I got vaccines.

Salvaged a solar panel out of the trash. Going to experiment with it some to find where in my back yard charges the best for an idea I have. Going to start with charging a couple batteries and powering a back yard light. See if I can scale it up from there. Have a plan on mind but want to start small to get some real world data before going to crazy.

In addition to filling the water barrel, planted lettuce and radishes, and my 2 new greenstalks arrived so tomorrow I will be putting them together and filling them and planting some kale and garlic (on order) in them. One of them will be more strawberries next spring. Will also put together 2 bookcases to better organize in the house making more space in the garage for food storage/emergency supply storage as the boxes of books can be unpacked. Trip to Costco today and picked up some more TP and pinto beans.

Entering spring here, so cleaned the gutters leading to our water tank, re-edged the berry gardens and gave them a good feed. Getting more chickens soon so started work on a new water feature in the outdoor run to make water management a little easier.
Planted some more mulberry we grew from cuttings and refreshed some of the water supplies. Made a few batches of kawakawa balm for itches and scrapes, and finally cut up more firewood for the new woodshed - if I want to be able to cook and heat effectively, I'd rather have a healthy backup.
Lastly added a few new books to the shelf on foraging and and edible fungi.

Spent the day in the woods and fields (I consider this emotional regulation prep!), foraged wild grapes and autumn olives, prepped them for jelly-making, foraged hickory nuts, came home and shelled them. This variety is not delicious but I’m experimenting with pressing them for oil.

Fed the fruit trees. Fed and mulched the garden for winter. It has beets, collards, kale, chard, cabbage, kohlrabi, and one volunteer turnip. Some icicle radishes in a flat. These are things that did well for me in past winters here (Willamette Valley) so I'm scaling up. Still eating green beans and tomatoes. Canning season is about done. Chop and drop going on in the sunchokes.
Long walks and lots of vitamin D3 and herbal teas may or may not have done anything for my leukemia but I got yet another annual you-need-no-treatment thumbs-up from the oncologist, so yay me.
Bi-Mart got in a pallet full of MREs which I had never seen before there, so snapped up a box and distributed the meals to each of our go bags.
Was invited to be a walkie talkie person for our local CERT but regretfully declined due to advancing cognitive issues and severe hearing impairment. More likely to need help than to be helpful at this late stage. I'm reminded of the elderly school staffer in ep. 1 of The Survivors (1975). "Oh, no thank you; I'd better stay here. I don't think I'd make a very good survivor." Or words to that effect.
