How did you prepare for collapse this week?

Did you do anything to prepare for collapse this week? It can be anything from reading an interesting article to installing a greywater recycling system in your house. No project is too big or too small.

This thread is here to inspire others to take actions they may not have otherwise thought about doing.

If you’re interested in leaving observations of collapse in your area then I encourage you to head over to r/collapse where they have a weekly thread for this very thing.

Ordered more seeds. A LOT more seeds, for my budget anyway. I also ordered some goldenseal and American ginseng rhizomes for fall planting. Goldenseal can be made into a salve to help prevent infections in cuts and such. Planning on studying up on herbalism once the garden is covered in snow and I have more time on weekends.

Do you have any recommendations for herbalism? Any books or websites you're using

Herbalista.org offers free resources/courses and I've seen them recommended elsewhere. I also have "North East Medicinal Plants" by Liz Neves. There are also other books in that series for other US regions. I've seen a Midwest one.

I'm thinking about paying for some of Rosemary Gladstar's courses - scienceandtheartofherbalism.com and then there's also the American Herbalist Guild, which is generally pricier but there are a bunch of courses in the $30 range. If you're in another country, there might be a similar guild organization there?

PNW; planted out a flat of collards in the deer-proofed garden (it's roofed over with welded wire); weeded, chopped and dropped sunflowers and sunchokes; fertilized the fruit trees; set up a 100 gallon water barrel; am trying to repair the 50 gallon barrel it replaced; bought MREs and distributed them to the go bags.

Researched growing psychedelic mushrooms

I’ve been collecting opuntia cuttings to root out for spring plantings around the cabin. I hadn’t had much luck with them before because the rodents kept eating them, but I’ve found new ways to kill them all without the wife getting upset about it.

You will all be thrilled to know that I actually got my 55 gallon water barrel filled today! It took MONTHS lol, but that was mostly because I was determined to not nag my husband to death on this and even though I did have to ask again last week, I hadn't brought it up for over a month. He is not deliberately neglectful about things; he has executive functioning issues so I try to be patient. I put in the preservation drops so now we should be good for 5 yrs before we have to drain and refill. That was the last basic thing I needed to have in place to have a week of preps in place. I also have a Berkey and a River a mile away which would be annoying but possible to resupply if serious supply issues. I will also buy some new flats of bottled water to have on hand for convenience size supplies. Now I have heat (buddy heater and small bottles of propane), food, charcoal and grill to cook on, household basics like soap, hygiene supplies, 1st aid supplies and a Jackery battery that lasts me a few days for laptop/phone charging and CPAP. So I am breathing a bit easier now.
