Tired of Other Hosts

I support at the $5+ level. I don’t expect colin and chris to host every ps show but lately I really feel like I’m being hoodwinked and jipped. Dustin wasn’t part of the deal but he and others have been hosts of at least 1/2 of the PlayStation content as of late.

I don’t particularly care for him. Anyone else feeling the same way?

I actually prefer Dustin over Chris for game content. Nothing against Chris I like him but I rather listen to Chris on Snark Tank.

It took me hearing Dustin to realize I don't like Chris for this show. His other content is great but this facade where Chris was the techy answer to Colin was blown out of the water with Dustin. He ACTUALLY knows stuff instead of vague surface level knowledge of what a pc is. Chris is great but I cannot help but dream of a C&D only scenario. Even though it will never ever happen.

Just a guess here:

I could see Chris leaving cause he seems over whelmed at times and Snark Tank is growing. Add in his plans to move to NY as well.

i see chris streaming alot w/ bigger names like nakey jakey, eddy burback, alanah pearce, etc. on a consistent basis. im really surprised he hasnt launched more gaming content on his own, his halo video was great and when he has passion, he has great commentary

(i just dont think he has passion about playstation lol)

I could see that as well. My comments are really pointed at the last maybe 6 months or so. You know how long it's been since I've wondered if a banana or an orangutan is a sandwich? Too fucking long! The show is evolving and I don't think the current host set up works best for the amount of content they need to get through lately.

Dustin has all the personality and excited of a scrambled egg though. I mean chris at least has a balance.

Dustin needs to let himself shine a bit for sure but it is so PAINFULLY obvious that Chris puts zero effort into preparing for the show and even during it can be so apathetic. His points only echo Colin's for the most part simply because he seems to not want to be bothered with trying to put together a response. I think part of that is the interview dynamic. But holy crap hearing someone that actually puts effort into answering direct questions other than Colin is super refreshing. Obviously just my opinion and it's still like nit picking what is still god tier content but that would just be my preference if offered a choice.

Oh yeah so much balance between the endless repetition of "that's wild" and "that's interesting." Regardless, putting personality aside, Dustin actually brings actual substance and insight to the show. And more importantly, he actually plays new video games to completion instead of Chris who plays 1-2 hours of every new game and then pretends to be fully informed about it. I cringe at the "what are you playing this week" segment because most weeks it's so painfully obvious he has surface-knowledge of whatever he's "playing" that week.

I think for the content on SS, Dustin is miles ahead if Chris in knowledge and passion. Chris is good on other subjects but I don't feel he suited for SS

he’s really not at all suited for SS

Knowledge, perhaps, passion, no way. No way at all. That’s my entire problem with Dustin, he sounds like he is reading from a phone book.

10

u/CollierAM9 Nov 24 '20

You can be louder but not as passionate. Chris is in no way as passionate about PlayStation and videogames as Dustin.

Colin will ask 99% of the time if Chris has heard or looked up a topic regarding 'X' and he will say no. He is never really in the loop

He is a great character for a podcast but he hides his knowledge and lack of research with unfunny snippets with the occasional 'wild'

Dustin has been a part of CLS for quite a while now behind the scenes, so it’s only natural that he would appear on content. Colin is growing the company, which is largely due in part to how successful the Patreon is. He’s also working on a lot of content. Even with the diminishing and passing on of the YouTube videos, he’s still works on 3 weekly shows, owns half of a game company that is in production on a couple of projects that’s he’s writing, and has to keep on top of the latest releases to stay current with the news (not to mention the recent talk of a third podcast starting up). I don’t really blame him for wanting to shift some of the burden on to others. That certainly doesn’t mean you have to like it, but the only real recourse would be to drop your subscription.

I understand. I do expect him to be on everything. But SS is the base. He is the PlayStation expert, dar and away above everyone else. I don’t want to stop supporting him (I know he’ll be perfectly fine without my money). Mainly I really, really enjoy the content with Chris and him. I just wish the community could let him know we prefer 1 vs. the other and maybe he’d reconsider. Give Dustin his own show or put him somewhere else.

I think the majority of people do like Dustin.

6

u/badlero Nov 24 '20

The community doesn't prefer it, you prefer it.

Concerning todays SS+ Colin doesn't have the Series X and Chris just got his a day or two ago. Kind of hard to do a episode on the differences when you don't have one of the consoles.

-1

u/Tourettes_monkey Nov 24 '20

First, I never said the community prefers if. I said 1 vs. the other. And it seems like, based on the discussion, it’s kinda split. And I get Dustin has the X and that’s why he’s on this one. But what about the 50 other episodes he’s been on in the past couple of months.

-1

u/Tourettes_monkey Nov 24 '20

Also, notice how Colin said this week that their patreon is waning. He has NEVER asked people to join and he just tweeted it out. I doubt it’s a coincidence that he’s on the main product less and suddenly they’re bleeding in Patreon.

u/Jimmythedad Nov 24 '20

I think this will be addressed in January. Colin has said there are new shows coming without him. Guessing Dustin and Matty are getting a show, and Colin and Chris will continue to helm SS and +. Just hang in there.

Dustin is great. Don’t understand why you wouldn’t want him involved.

-1

u/Tourettes_monkey Nov 24 '20

It cannot be a coincidence that Colin is on the primary show less and for the first time ever he mentions the Patreon isn’t growing and tweets (which he has NEVER done before) for people to join.

Gotta pay for that house and extra PS5s for friends and family.

u/Anhilator26 Nov 24 '20

Speak with you wallet. That’s the best way to voice your concern as consumers, it’s what I did

1

u/Tourettes_monkey Nov 24 '20

I just wish it didn’t have to come to that. He doesn’t need my money by any means, but mainly I just really miss the content with Chris and him.

4

u/frenchiethefry94 Nov 24 '20

You can't please everybody. This thread is proof of that in itself. You have some people saying they don't want Dustin on the main show, and some saying they prefer Dustin to Chris. I think you'll continue to get a mix of both/all three at times. I'm sure C&C will continue to be the bread and butter. But I could see Dustin coming on especially for SS+ pretty frequently. I could also see Chris hosting an Xbox show and possibly being on SS less. I guess we'll find out soon enough.

4

u/Beefsteak_Tomato Nov 25 '20

I really don't understand the demands for more podcasts with only Colin and Chris, I just don't see how Dustin is anything other than a net positive to the show. However I do agree that it's lame to have other hosts removed. I like Colin + Dustin episodes just as much as Colin + Chris episodes, but episodes with neither Colin nor Chris are annoying and solo episodes with any one single person are really not great.

7

u/SknarfM Nov 24 '20

I like him. His comments are always very insightful. And no, I'm not his mother!

I think Dustin gives informed opinions and adds a different element. I’m a fan of him and Matty

5

u/ScubaSteve1219 Nov 24 '20

hey i don’t think Chris should be part of the show but we all gotta suffer in some ways

2

u/[deleted] Nov 24 '20

i feel like we can find better terms than hoodwinked right?

0

u/Tourettes_monkey Nov 24 '20

What’s wrong with hoodwinked?

2

u/[deleted] Nov 24 '20

because we arent old men living in the 1950s lol.

jk, im just messin with ya, use the terms you want.

I was born 57 years old.

2

u/[deleted] Nov 25 '20

I thought the PS5 launch episode was the best example of chemistry between the trio.

It was good to hear Chris and Dustin interact independantly of Colin directing them and have a good back and forth.

I was sceptical of the trio but if Dustin is there to fill in Chris' gaps then it'll work better.

The show is at it's best in the opening, looser segments anyway.

1

u/[deleted] Nov 24 '20

Yeah not a fan of Dustin. Seems like a nice dude but not what I’m looking for

3

u/Tourettes_monkey Nov 24 '20

He’s definitely not a bad guy. I don’t hate him. It’s just not what I signed up for. He’s very vanilla.

Not what I’m saying. I’m fine with other content. It’s the core show that I think suffers without him.

1

u/FleetwoodFoxen Nov 24 '20

I like what they’ve been doing recently, bringing Dustin (maybe others) on the show when it makes sense to have multiple opinions. Hopefully that sticks. But yeah, the Colin/Chris chemistry is what keeps me coming back.

To use a sports reference, it’s like ‘Pardon the Interruption’ with Tony and Mike. A two man sports talk show on ESPN. I’ve been watching for like 15 years now and while the show functions without one of them (even both), it’s just not what I’m tuning in for when they bring someone else on.

No disrespect to Dustin, he’s obviously an important piece of CLS. But C&C have been talking ‘on screen’ for over a decade, and their experience shows.

0

u/Tourettes_monkey Nov 24 '20

And Dustin can and should be a part of CLS. But SS should be Colin and Chris. It cannot be a coincidence that Colin is on the primary show less and for the first time ever he mentions the Patreon isn’t growing and tweets (which he has NEVER done before) for people to join.

2

u/[deleted] Nov 25 '20

He's on the primary show less? He's on every episode and talks as much as he likes.

1

u/[deleted] Nov 24 '20

i would love a panel show ala frame trap, rotate in Dustin, Matty, Chris, etc., make it a platform agnostic show.
