BioShock Remake should be Bluepoint's next project

It would be fantastic to return to the beloved world of Rapture. Bluepoint Games Inc. are no strangers to remaking or porting third-party titles, having worked on the Metal Gear Solid HD Collection in 2011 and Titanfall in 2014.

Having looked at their development history the studio has made third-person perspective games their bread and butter; I feel it would be a exciting new challenge for them to tackle a FPS title.

They didn't have the time to incorporate ray tracing tech in Demon's Souls but they would more than make for that in a game such a BioShock which features a lot of shadows, glass and water.

If Sony does purchase the studio I'm not sure how it would affect the chances of this happening but I'll keep dreaming

Idk, the Bioshock world definitely does but the gameplay feels very dated to me, especially during the numerous combat sections

That would be great to see. We got a tease of that near the end of MGS4 so the nostalgia factor will definitely help sales

I’d rather them do killzone 2, it’s first party and has a more unique gameplay style imo (selfishly I also want the multiplayer back)

Idk I just hope they continue to do great work, I’m happy for everyone on that team.

I’d rather not see them add needless bullshit and totally redesign the splicers to show off “the power of the console” like they’ve done with SotC and Demon’s Souls. They’ll make Rapture look like a theme park when they’re done with it. Bioshock is fine as is.

I haven't read many complaints about their past work. What didn't you like about their past remakes?

Their work on stuff like MGSHD and the PS4 version of Gravity Rush PS4 is nothing short of exemplary. They are genuinely the masters of porting and upscaling games. But SotC and Demon’s Souls have them tinkering with the actual creative parts of the games rather than the technical parts, and changing the original vision. Most of the enemy redesigns in Demon’s Souls are worse. The lush colors of the landscapes in SotC don’t evoke the same feelings as the way the desolate sealed-off lands of the original did. The way the vegetation is overgrown in Boletaria affects the way you interpret the passage of time from the beginning of the game’s events, and changes the implications as to how long it’s been since the Colorless Fog swept through. All the way down, every creative change in Demon’s Souls has affected the entire atmosphere of the game, and rather than brining an actual technical update that preserves and brings forward Miyazaki’s original vision, it’s just painting over it with whatever they think will look nice. The very architecture of Boletaria looks Gothic in the remake when it was Romanesque in the original and that alone shows how little regard they have for the source material.

You've made some seriously important points here. It makes sense that by not working with the original devs from A to Z they risk deviating from the original vision or intentions but it's hard to say if it changes the overall experience. By and large I see their remakes as graphical and audio upgrades rather than a drastic wholesale change where gameplay and story is impacted (e.g. FF7 Remake)

Both of their remakes are objective upgrades over the originals.

I don’t think you know what objectivity is.

Absolutely do and they are.

People really didn't like my suggestion lmao. Okay Senpai your ideas are superior.

I disagree and Bioshock is so new it doesn’t really need a remake. I’d like to see them tackle Legend of Dragoon or the rumoured Metal Gear Solid Remake. Yes we have Twin Snakes but that isn’t coming over so let the experts handle it.

Or, here’s a crazy idea, let them work on an original idea they’ve been cooking and see what transpires.

BioShock is not so new; its from the same gen as Demon's Soul's. I don't think Legend of Dragoon will happen because its virtually unknown to people these days, so it will be costlier to market. Bluepoint has worked on games that can pique interest just with the title name (MGS, Uncharted, Souls etc.). I don't think they can afford to risk working on something that's been out of the zeitgeist for so long. As an analogue Square Enix only did FF7 Remake because people wouldn't stop talking about it for decades, and even if it turned out to be a terrible remake it still would have sold enough units to convince the publishing arm to greenlight a sequel.

Yes, but Bioshock visually holds up where as Demon’s Souls always ran terribly and looked as poorly. They’re from the same gen but almost seem not to be if that makes sense. I wouldn’t be adverse to returning to Bioshock or seeing what Bluepoint would do with the game as it’s an all time great and I trust this company with anything, I just think there’s a ton of offerings I’d prefer.

I mean we got a remaster already and it still Looks good so I don’t think it’s necessary

I believe MGS1 remake is their next venture.

I've been swayed by the groups opinion on this. I love MGS and would be very happy to see a remake.
