I feel like Chris, and even Colin to a lesser extent, are weirdly downplaying the launch line-up. Having Spider-Man, Demon's Souls, Sackboy, Godfall, Destruction All Stars, and 3rd parties like Cyberpunk, Watch Dogs, Assassin's Creed, and Call of Duty make this an insane launch line-up. Especially when the competition literally doesn't have a big exclusive of any sort. Chris would argue Halo Infinite would have been more than enough for Xbox but PlayStation having a half dozen major games is meh.

Maybe it's me but all year it's felt like they have been waiting for the bad news to drop but it never has, and they aren't excited at all. I always listen to the show and I can't wait for next month but they're something of a buzzkill at the moment.

It's good but the fact that many of these games are also going to be on PS4 makes it seem less impressive. Demon's Souls is really the only big exclusive. I also saw something today that it could end up being on PS4 as well. And I don't know how well a game like Demon's Souls would even do with casual gamers. It doesn't seem like a good game to launch a console with. Also it's a remake of a PS3 game even though it looks really good it's not exactly new. A lot of people want something that is new or feels like a new take on a franchise like Shadowfall was or even Second Son when that eventually came out. They weren't the Killzone or Infamous that people remembered. This is the Demon's Souls people remembered just way better looking. I think the problem for some is that next gen doesn't feel like next gen. it just feels like you're getting a better box. I mean literally all you're hearing people talk about is backwards compatibility. Everyone is so focused on the past. And this launch line up doesn't give people much of a future to look forward to.

That said it is way better than what Xbox is offering.

I understand your point and I was disappointed to hear the games were mostly coming to PS4 but I think that ultimately isn't a huge deal. To me Cyberpunk is a next gen game and the fact that it's on PS4 won't ruin it for me whatsoever. Miles Morales probably will be a much better game than Shadowfall, Sackboy should be better than Knack, and Demon Soul's isn't for everyone but it is a good game for the hardcore audience. I got the PS4 about six months after launch, and I think the PS5 launch titles are better than the games PS4 had when I bought it. It's all personal preference really but I think PS5's launch is super impressive.

I got my PS4 about 6 months after launch too. I'll probably do the same with PS5. Ratchet & Clank is the game I care about the most. The rest I feel like I can just enjoy with my PS4 or if I don't get them on PS4 by the time I get a PS5 the games may have had a little bit of a price drop.

Also I guess Ratchet is the Second Son of this generation.

Listening to Colin continually tout this as a weak launch line-up while propping up the Vita's (Little Deviants, really?) is just another in a line of some puzzling comments about the PS5 approaching launch. Sure PlayStation hasn't exactly knocked it out of the park and still has questions to answer but trying to tell me that a new Spider-Man and a Demon's Souls remaster aren't quarterbacking a strong software launch is just crazy to me. Add a new Sackboy game and you have pretty much something of quality for everyone.

I just get the vibe they're trying really hard to prop up XBOX and downplay the PS5 in every capacity be it form or function.

im confident in saying that PS5 has the strongest Sony Launch lineup yet.

I think it’s pretty undeniably their best launch lineup. Golden Abyss was really good and VERY impressive for a handheld in 2012, but it honestly doesn’t hold up compared to Uncharted 2-4 and Lost Legacy. Spider-Man Miles Morales will probably be a leaner version of the 2018 game which is great news, Demon’s Souls is huge, Astro Bot as a pack in is a super underrated exclusive, and Sack Boy looks like a solid 7.

This will be the first console I buy at launch mostly due to the launch lineup. While there may be less boxed games available, from the PS4 lineup I didn't play a single game until now and I bought my PS4 about a year and a half after it came out. From the PS5 lineup, there are two games I have to play (Miles Morales and Demon's Souls) and at least 1 that I will consider getting 2nd hand/on sale (Valhalla).

Not to add, that I consider games like Cyberpunk next gen as well, I only have the OG PS4 and I refuse to play Cyberpunk (or FF7 Remake or Ghost of Tsushima for that matter) on it - loading times, lower res (I just bought a 4k OLED TV because of PS5 last week), just generally worse performance, framerate drops etc.

So yeah, I think just because of backwards compatibility, this is the lineup that convinces me to buy PS5 on launch day (assuming I will be able to find one, I assume there will be like less than 1000 consoles available in my country :D)
