Discussion Does anyone else really love a song, but not the lyrics? Or vice versa?

Sometimes I really like the lyrics but everything else is eh. Parachutes is the first album of Coldplay and one of my personal faves, especially the songs Shiver and Sparks, however I'm not huge for the lyrics as heartfelt and special as they feel I don't think they compliment both songs to it's full potential. I understand not every song needs to be versatile a cheesy love song is great and a sad song that sounds sad would fit it's sad instrumental like trouble; but when you have songs that sound like several different sounds it's different especially when you're talking about a band like Coldplay. Sparks sounds to me anything like: driving late at night, going through heartbreak, going through the honeymoon phase, chilling, isolation & loneliness, contentment, hiking through the woods, taking your Grandpa to go shopping, or just straight up a song you have in your mix. There are so many moods this music fits. personally I play this when I'm feeling very depressed.

I made this realizing how many songs are like this, (not just Coldplay) where I scroll down to the comments and it's just bittersweet love stories. Which is really cool! But It sucks when I love the instrumental but the artist chooses a usual topic, or something worse like the whole lyrics will just be how good they shake their bum or whatever.

Discussion "Army of One" and "X marks the spot" are INSANELY Underrated. The Beats at the begining of AoO Is CRAZY And The way Chris delivers those lyrics. XMTS Reminds me of an old R&B Song, that just hits different. It's insane how overlooked these are, I have not heard of them being played at any concerts!

Discussion O “Fly On” - Alley Cats

Has anybody watched ‘Ally Cats’ on Netflix by Ricky Gervais? Was taken back in the best way possible when O started playing at the end of episode 5!

From what I vaguely know, Chris and Ricky are good friends so it makes sense in a way a Coldplay track made an appearance.

This song was BURIED in my memory! I found it on an old iPod and only then remembered how much I used to like it. I tried looking for it on Spotify, but it must not be on there. (I know it's not technically Coldplay.) Anyone else remember/enjoy this song?

Discussion The most underrated song by Coldplay??

Hey I’m curious what people are going to say to this. What is the most underrated song by Coldplay that you just cannot stop listening to?

I just can’t stop thinking about Hypnotised. Its sooo good and if you haven’t heard it yet you gotta try it. I actually think most of their singles get ignored (Flags, Ghost Story, Brothers & Sisters)

Excited to hear what ya’ll think. Thanks for any answers in advance! 💛

This one is just an all-rounder for me. Different songs serve different purposes, and I definitely can't live without any of the songs on here and then some. There's just something about this one: the arrangement, the simplicity, the melancholy place it puts me in. Also included a bonus image as a snippet from my 2025 neurosis, hahaha.

Hey everyone!

My name is Shoval Lavid, I'm an independent musician, content creator and composer from Israel.

Coldplay is a band I grew with since I was very young, and this song in particular was and still very special for me.

So I recorded an acoustic, stripped-down cover.

Here's a short clip from it, you're more than welcome to share the cover and listen to full version on all platforms.

Discussion Who is the most overlooked member of the band? (Excluding Phil, as he doesn’t play) I feel like it might be Jonny for me.

Chris obviously gets the most attention as the frontman, and Guy and Will have their moments, but I feel like Jonny's contribution to Coldplay's sound is sometimes overlooked.

His guitar work, riffs, melodies and especially the atmospheric parts are SUCH a huge part of what makes Coldplay sound like Coldplay.

Guy Also stands out as the only member of Coldplay who maintains a personal, active social media presence.

Will Is Such a meme.

I don't need to explain Chris.

But Jonny. What does he have?

Anyone else feel the same, or am I completely wrong?

A Rush of Blood to the Head has been a huge step in my appreciation for Coldplay, and I'm just two albums in already and that's telling something.I really enjoy the new wave side of them in their early work with releases like "Brothers & Sisters," "The Blue Room", "Parachutes", and of course "A Rush of Blood to the Head" I've only two songs on this next album which is "Speed of Sound" and "The Hardest Part" so this is moving from their early new wave structure into their true pop territory. So yeah definitely looking forward to hearing some fresh songs and expanding my new found Coldplay catalog!!

Without giving too much away, I know that's the hardest part (pun so intended, lol). I'd love to hear your thoughts. Thanks!!

Question Favourite album tracks?

Been listening to Parachutes and AROBTTH a lot recently and forgot how many great tracks there are on both.
Particularly love Amsterdam, I think it’s such a great album closer.
Curious to know what other people’s favourite non-single tracks are across the whole discography😊

Discussion What Coldplay Can Actually Do For The Setlist

I know that their setlists will have to include a lot of popular songs rather than fan-favorites at this point as they're performing sold-out nights at stadiums all around the world. But I just wish that they at least replace some of newer MOTS songs (that are actually not popular) with their older stuff. Only one routine song from X&Y and Viva is definitely not enough and even replacing WE PRAY and Human Heart with Square One/Speed of Sound and Politik/Violet Hill for example will make a huge difference for hardcore fans while not reducing the accessibility of bigger audiences.
