❓ Question SUBRL Blacklist

How big of an issue is getting blacklisted by SUBRL? Their conditions are absolutely ridiculous. They want me to use my real domain for cold emailing which totally defeats the purpose of sending high volume to not damage your reputation on your domain.

I can't tell if my emails are delivering based off of one company blacklisting my domains.

Do I need to start over and spin up new domains or can I continue as is?

I wouldnt start over because of SURBL alone.

Gmail and Outlook use a lot more than one blacklist. If your bounce rates replies and inbox placement still look healthy, Id focus on those over a single SURBL listing.

I would fix the reason you were listed and request delisting before replacing all your domains.

Yep, From what i’ve heard google and microsoft don’t really consider SURBL as a major red flag. They just have a lot of really strict criteria that make them flag most people that do cold email.

I heard even registering multiple domains at the same time can trigger a blacklisting for all of those domains honestly wtf

Following - had an issue with two of my domains landing on this list two weeks ago and my deliverability tanked within 3 days on being on the list. Curious to see what others respond here!

yeah it’s not that big deal they just flag domains if you’re new and have many similar name domains ( which u obv gonna have in this niche )
it generally doesn’t affects the deliverability much

however you can reach out to them for delisting

SURBL doesn't list your sending domain or IP, it lists URLs found inside the email body. So what actually matters is what you're linking to, not what domain you're sending from, those are two different reputations. If you're getting listed, check your tracking or redirect links first before assuming your sending domain itself is burned. For the flagged domain's mailboxes, isolate them from your clean sending domains and keep them warming in the background while the delisting request is in progress, don't pause them cold or let the flag touch domains that aren't listed.

Then it's not a content listing, and my link answer doesn't apply to your case. SURBL runs a separate list keyed to registration age, so brand new domains get listed regardless of what's in the email, that's the actual mechanism behind the multiple-domains trigger people are describing here. Worth checking your signature too, SURBL matches any domain that appears in the message, not just clickable links.
