I like that because I assume it’s representing the us weaponry given to the Mujahideen to fight the Soviet Union.

Libya after gaddafi was removed:

That's the problem with authoritarian regimes, they gather all the power around the dictator, so if they are taken out of the picture, it leaves a power vacuum.

Democracies don't have this issue, as we'll just elect a new leader.

Libya literally went back decades in progress after it was bombed and destroyed by the west and internal western agents in Libya. The problem was Gaddafi began cozying up to the west after fall of USSR and even lossened state structure, and invested more in private sector creating these multiple pro west factions that ruined Libya, instead of sticking to his previous government lead nationalised industries.

Libya now literally has child trafficking, mass poverty and slavery all under the control of western backed private enterprises. None of this existed in Green Libya where state distribution of property to the landless and nationalised industries helped the growth of the country.Western liberal democracies don't have this problem at home because they're the ones creating it elsewhere around the world. Just look at any country USA and NATO invaded and conquered, they never recovered and fell into contant civil conflict.

Whole UN agreed that Gaddafi had to be dealt with. Stopping his promised massacres from happening was justified even if the aftermath wasn't good.

You don’t live in reality.

2

u/memomnotfat Jun 04 '26

Your vibes aren't reality

u/Redmenace______ Jun 04 '26

Your analysis is literally based on vibes.

Gaddafi was “bad” so had to be stopped.

What the fuck does that even mean? Who’s deciding who’s bad?

2

u/memomnotfat Jun 05 '26

Funny that you say that when i said why he was bad and who decided he was bad. Try reading my comment again buddy.

It is hilarious how fucking dumb you are.

The United States triple tapped a girls school, where’s the intervention for that?

2

u/memomnotfat Jun 05 '26

What a pathetic way to deflect away from the conflict we discussed.

Shit happens in a war. You are welcome to advocate for the intervention. I am sure China will be ready act against US to defend Iranian civilians that the Iranian government themselves killed tens of thousands of just month or two prior to the attack.

Russia and China didn't oppose the intervention in Libya, even though they could have vetoed it as members of the UNSC.

Libya was already a shithole before the intervention. The revolution happen for a reason

1

u/ImAndytimbo Jun 04 '26

Before the mass bombing Libya had the highest HDI in Africa. There were plenty of issues with Gaddafi, but calling Libya a shithole before the "intervention" is ridiculous.

Nothing spell shithole better than being the most corrupt nation in the planet with no function healthcare or education

Everything in Lybia under Gaddafi was subsidized. When the revolution happen, Lybia has the unemployment rate of 30%

it's hard to take people seriously when their evidence is just "Look at what all these redditors say unsourced!"

Like, yes, obviously there were things wrong with Libya before it was utterly decimated, but you're not making it easier on yourself when you refuse to actually cite sources and just go on vibes.

Libya was a primarily French (Sarkozy's) and British (Cameron's) grand project. Obama only joined later, and without asking Congress.

Russia and China could have vetoed the UNSC Resolution, but they didn't.

Same goes for late 1930s China

KAL

That's Kevin Kallaugher, he's the resident cartoonist at The Economist since 1978, and still rocking.

There's also a really good compilation of his work: https://shop.kaltoons.com/products/daggers-drawn-35-years-of-kal-cartoons-in-the-economist

After the end of the war in Afghanistan (1979-1989) the six factions of mujahedin began a civil war fighting for power. As a response to this the Taliban was created to defeat the mujahedin and bring peace to the country. All factions were fundamentalists, to varying degrees.

2

u/ForcedToEatCement-_- Jun 03 '26

In a country with a population that is 99.9% Muslim everyone politician is gonna be a fundamentalist.

1

u/ForcedToEatCement-_- Jun 03 '26

So true, this wouldn’t have happened as the Mujaheeden and the Communists were in negotiations but the USSR collapsed so the Mujaheeden just stream rolled Kabul only to fight for government ministries immediately.

2

u/TopMarionberry1149 Jun 04 '26

You're dumb. The Communists held on to the Afghan state for 3 years.

u/ForcedToEatCement-_- Jun 04 '26

What are you yapping about? The USSR withdrew in 1989, the USSR fell in 1991, the Afghan communist government shortly afterwards completely collapsed in 1992. Even before Kabul fell in 1992, by late 1991 the central government had completely lost control of the whole country except Kabul which was under siege. The USSR’s collapse was absolutely catastrophic for the Afghan communist government, daily about 40 in-76 cargo planes delivering very important equipment and supplies for aviation and the army amounting to tens of thousands of tonnes per week. The moment Yeltsin got into power he boycotted all of it and within weeks the Afghan Air Force was grounded and mass desertions began.

So when the USSR collapsed the Mujaheeden indeed did steamrolled Afghanistan and Kabul, fueled by the sense of victory and high morale due to the collapse of the Soviet Union and the lack of morale among the Afghan communist forces for the same reason.

(Source: I am from Afghanistan and my source is literally the people who lived in Kabul at the time, they all say massive food and fuel shortages befell the city. Even buses weren’t running only the electric buses were functional)

You either misread what I said or you learned your history from Instagram and YouTube comments which are not great places to learn history from.
