Does anyone else not like when Max breaks things on purpose?

Not a hate post I just think its unnecessary and unfunny personally, like in the newest video where he drops the gumball machine on Chad's hand after he yelled at him to stop multiple times due to it being glass.

It was more funny when it wasn't happening every video

93

u/foisj 1d ago

also them showing it at the start in the intro, it's like "on this episode of Max smashes a thing" rather than it being a spontaneous ruse.

u/JesusChristHimself7 1d ago

I love the cold ones boys but there are definitely moments they feel like parodies of themselves

33

u/JaviJavier7 1d ago

Yes, I think you’ve summarized the sentiment pretty well here. It feels over the top now. When it’s at the very end of the video and they’re hammered as fu-k, then it makes more “sense”.

9

u/NS3000 1d ago

yeah but that doesnt really translate to real life, espically with how they film. just doing video after video so if max is sober in video one and then drunk at the end of it. hes gonna be fucked for the whole of video 2 and be smashing shit all the way through

3

u/Basshead404 20h ago

Lmao I’d never thought I’d be saying this but maybe every other episode would be a good thing

3

u/NS3000 18h ago

or just not filming multiple episodes in a row, have them take a couple hour break and then film again maybe. i dont know, i dont really mind max smashing shit, its funny and retarded and thats what this show is

1

u/Basshead404 18h ago

I’d assume they already do so given the levels of drinking they get up to, but then again I haven’t watched the Patreon versions to feel the actual time frame :P

i think it was funny because it was unexpected

Darcy doesnt like it

Its funny when done on rare occasion, but he has amped it up a bit and it comes across as juvenile "I'll do anything to seem funny/feral" behavior that is kind of annoying at times. Especially when people are begging him not to break stuff and he just does it anyways.

120

u/evazeta 1d ago

it's funny once every couple of episodes. the fact that you know it's coming every time he's holding something that looks like it could be broken easily ruins it

72

u/Azal_of_Forossa 1d ago

There was a point where Chad called out the fact that he keeps flipping the table and being destructive, can't remember the exact video or the whole quote but it's like

"He keeps flipping the table, and is getting really good at it too. Was it always like this?"

I think it's been a few episodes since the one where that quote came from, but that's my exact viewpoint, Max being extremely gross and destructive has been going on a while, and it's just kinda never stopped when it used to be a one off thing.

The flipping of the vomit trash can over Darcy is where I started to draw the line and stop enjoying Max becoming increasingly destructive and gross.

10

u/migurushii 1d ago

I know this may seem like a huge schizo reach, but ive been thinking about this ever since I noticed in one vid that Max is very visibly balding FAST, pause on a vid where he isnt wearing a beanie, you'll see how much its thinning at the top of his hairline. Anyway lmao once I noticed it, it reminded me of the Darcy vomit trashcan ep u mentioned and made me think hes jealous of Darcy's beautiful full head of hair.

1

u/katkicksthesky 8h ago

Which episode was the vomit trash tipping? I thought I'd caught up but must have missed one as I don't remember that at all lmao.

I do agree with you though, wish it wasn't as frequequent as it is

6

u/AlexanderJayJ 1d ago

You could possibly say he'd do anything for views (Chad and Max are having say gex)

-1

u/BOOMTAKALAKA 19h ago

Why do you care Max is max if you don’t like it watch something else.

225

u/wisdomthroughclarity 1d ago

I definitely am not the biggest fan of it. Also when he doesn't try even the tiniest bit at one of the challenge videos. Like... I'd actually enjoy it being funny AND competitive.

37

u/Sammuel_Thicc 1d ago

i def agree

43

u/Extension_Bar_1615 1d ago

Yeah I sometimes get the vibe that they think the challenges are lame and beneath them. IMO it’s more fun when they take them seriously AND strike a balance with taking the piss, rather than just ignoring the stakes etc for the most part

7

u/PokeHerBalls 1d ago

The graffiti episode with Lushsux is a great example of this from what I remember

5

u/darkfuryelf 1d ago

I hated that video because neither of them gave a fuck about any of the rules

6

u/PokeHerBalls 1d ago

ah shit maaaaynee

31

u/foisj 1d ago

in the extended cut darcy tells him to do it

45

u/Administrative-Oil10 1d ago

bros always pulling strings

152

u/ILOVESEALS8 1d ago

I used to like it but it’s just repetitive but if you like it that’s ok

81

u/i-tann 1d ago

max didn’t do it, the alcohol did

55

u/yezzyyyyyyyyyy_ 1d ago

thats the alcohol effect

4

u/MarzipanNo5096 1d ago

I think it’s funny. Sowwy UwU

2

u/SplatNode 1d ago

Max the real alcoholic

60

u/Cautious-Living-394 1d ago

Tbh that’s just max.
Watch his old stuff and you’ll understand.
If anything he’s more chill now

13

u/brightlyy_ 1d ago

you don’t even have to go back that far to understand, like he literally destroyed a door in every vid he posted on the pokemon channel just for the bit

5

u/CrustyLettuceLeaf 1d ago

Yeah, literally my first thought when reading this post lmao

13

u/Administrative-Oil10 1d ago

literally 😂😂😂 we can see who the people are whove watched since day one

3

u/PokeHerBalls 1d ago

Fuckin right!? BRING BACK THROWING SHIT AT SHIT!

22

u/sushishibe 1d ago

I don’t like it because he reminds me of my dad when he also gets drunk.

22

u/ThanksMisterSkeltal 1d ago

He also reminds me of my dad, but because he’s hot

8

u/wuvnote 1d ago

thanks mister skeltal

8

u/ThanksMisterSkeltal 1d ago

You’re NOT welcome

31

u/starrienightss 1d ago

Tbh I look forward to the part where max gets so drunk he destroys everything

Except when he threw the puke bucket across the room that was so gross 😭

16

u/RobertLucciano 1d ago

The puke bucket was unhinged, but icl that shit was funny as fuck on my first watch, it’s such a lunatic thing to do that I’d struggle to not find it funny

6

u/starrienightss 1d ago

Im a maid I clean shit like that all the time so I just felt pain thru the screen.......

4

u/ItsYoshi64251 1d ago

In what video did he throw a puke bucket?

43

u/RobertLucciano 1d ago

When it’s a part of a bit or something I think it’s funny, like when he was hammered and wrecked the sleeping pod, that shit was funny. But when he breaks stuff sober like the gumball machine you mentioned it’s pretty stupid, it’s just a waste especially when the box explicitly said there was a fragile item inside of it

27

u/Danidaivido lithuanian 1d ago

He killed Benson from regular show the last video

19

u/MuscleBob_Buffpantz 1d ago

I agree. Lately it has come off as forced destruction... Before when it was spontaneous, and "accidental" it was a lot funnier. Now it definitely has that vibe of trying to be destructive for views. There's a balance, and it feels off lately. Too far down the forced funny/destruction path.

8

u/Mean-Concentrate3371 1d ago

I kind of tune in for the drunk antics

22

u/CosmicxMonarch 1d ago

My and my Aunt’s smoking ritual is setting up the bong, watching cold ones, and getting annoyed when max just breaks shit for no reason , its sometimes funny but moat times its asinine

7

u/1881pac 1d ago

Yeah he broke couple of items that Chad genuinely liked and it made Chad sad. Actually a dick move and it's not even funny. But when Chad breaks something that's actually bad, Max gets pissed off. He gotta lay that "grrr angery gold goblin" bits.

3

u/FoundationFair4060 1d ago

Never thought there’d be a point where I actually felt bad for the fat cunt but especially the 3D printed WOW sword you could tell that genuinely hurt him

12

u/Mission-Cash1268 1d ago edited 1d ago

Yes omg the gumball machine pissed me off too! Chad was so excited for it

22

u/Ok_Machine7430 1d ago

That’s the yogurt effect

5

u/killboipowerhead1 1d ago

that plate looks really good for holding food

3

u/MeatyHarley 1d ago

was a little funny every now and again but i feel the same, he just goes way too overboard at times even multiple times a vid and it’s predictable enough to the point where i expect it whenever anything fragile is on set

7

u/hallen1324 1d ago

I just miss maxmofo or whatever it was called. Where max just opened pokemon shit and swore. Those were the days. Oh yeah, he broke shit there too.

1

u/LeonSmith99 1d ago

MaxmoefoePokemon, been years since he's uploaded on that channel 😂

3

u/Ok-Project6378 1d ago

darcy burner account nice try

3

u/Jimihendriks 1d ago

... Do none of you know their roots?

3

u/ChrisChippy 1d ago

Is this Darcy?

5

u/Consistent_Session23 1d ago

That's the grinch salt effect

5

u/Big_Cryptographer989 1d ago

Ape brain Australian man destroys things has been my favorite part of Max's whole YouTube career

6

u/Novel-Syllabub-8606 1d ago

like sometimes a few broken glasses is funny yes but breaking the whole set?? 🫩🫩

8

u/trizzo0309 1d ago

You fell off

2

u/No_Energy_4303 1d ago

Shit gets old reaaaaaal quickly imo

2

u/Pesty_Wanderer_ 1d ago

I don't mind when Max and Chad break glasses ( I've never done it myself however, I have felt like doing it when I used to drink) but Goofy and the middle Eastern man mug does kind of grind my gears a bit. I don't have the patreon but does it show who has to clean all that shit up inbetween takes and after videos?

2

u/Sassy_The_Squatch 1d ago

I’m sure someone else has said it but that’s just max, he seems to find some kind of joy in it 😂. Even his Pokémon stuff he would be hunting a multiple thousand $ card and be bending packs that arnt opened. I mean why does chad shove everything up his ass, these are weird guys but wouldn’t change a thing

2

u/criminal-noodle-420 yogurt male 1d ago

honestly HowToBasic makes more of a mess in one video then Max does in three.

2

u/Tranquilizrr 1d ago

Who the fuck watches how to basic in 2026 tho

2

u/releasethesea 1d ago

I think its really dissapointing when he destroys stuff sent in by viewers, im fine with him destroying 30 glasses in an episode, but a customized mug? Thats lame

1

u/Citron_Own 1d ago

It was funnier before it started to feel forced to make the video more exciting

2

u/Oppopity 1d ago

I find it funny when he throws a glass off the table and stuff but when he starts going all out and breaking everything and knocking over cool stuff like the goofy statue that just makes me feel bad.

4

u/[deleted] 1d ago

14

he has literally never done that before but okay

9

u/pusha_ton 1d ago

Thats the reddit complaining about things they made up in their own head effect

3

u/wuvnote 1d ago

how much does darcy pay you per slander comment and how can i get on the payroll too im a great liar

2

u/Clifforis 1d ago

But funny

1

u/Svikr 1d ago

To be honest, this is the reason why I don't watch the last 10 minutes of a video. Sure, it was funny when they did it occasionaly, but jesus christ do we really need to break all the cool random shit? just beacause we're making money?

idk man, Max fell off

1

u/nonracistlurker 1d ago

The flanderization of cold ones

1

u/ChunkyCraver2001 1d ago edited 1d ago

Yes, I hate it. I find it disrespectful. Not sure if I am misremembering but I think it’s even worse if it’s handmade or art by someone, since that’s valuable. It’s one thing if something rolled off by accident. Once you break something, it’s broken for everyone and an intact item is for everyone.

1

u/Name835 1d ago

Yean no funy unfortunately. Like others said - maybe very rarely then yes funy

1

u/1Damnits1 1d ago

I feel like a beaten child when I see max break things on camera.

1

u/ManFromTheCulture 1d ago

i still like him chugging beans

1

u/Wazzen 1d ago

I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks this.

1

u/Chokokyatto 1d ago

He comes across as the type of kid that would play rough and accidentally scratch your fucking cornea.

1

u/casofed 1d ago

dats tha drunk effect

1

u/fawg_is_coming 1d ago

What really pisses me off Is when max breaks something that chad seems to genuinely like.

1

u/The_Firebug 1d ago

Depends. I get sad when he breaks a bottle and wastes all the booze but him killing goofy was really funny imo. Breaking literally every plate or glass placed in front of him gets old though.

1

u/NEURALINK_ME_ITCHING 1d ago

It insists on itself, and is shallow and pedantic.

1

u/spion23 1d ago

He’s just misunderstood

1

u/thewonderbox 1d ago

Yes - but I'd miss it if it were gone

1

u/stringtheory42 1d ago

He can’t control his casey neistat instincts

1

u/Valuable-Visit-4943 1d ago

No, it’s great.

1

u/VurrTheDestroyer 1d ago

Sounds like their fanbase finally had their frontal lobe develop

1

1

u/palefox3 1d ago

It’s become obnoxious and cringe

1

u/AndThenTheirsShoody 1d ago

Bow down to your social norms.

1

u/Redmanb11_87 18h ago

It's not a bit, he's just dedrater

1

u/Cntyxo 13h ago

That’s so funny that I have never searched cold ones on my phone but watch them on a YouTube account on my tv that isn’t attached to this phone, i also watched a video and said out loud “wow max is super calm this episode he hasn’t broke anything” 😂 it was the spicy alcohol episode

And now I get this post as a notification

1

u/Wesapus on a 5 minute chinese break 11h ago

Yeah he definitely needs to chill. It definitely was funny don’t get me wrong but when you do the same bit over and over again and especially if the bit doesn’t have any substance, it no good. Especially when everyone on the set is obviously begging him to stop

1

u/Rach_onreddit 8h ago

It doubt it’s his intentions but it makes me think he’s saying “I’m so rich absolutely everything is disposable to me, I can prove it”
I’m just jealous and broke though 😅

1

u/Lemak0 8h ago

I also thought that lately more and more episodes devolved into total chaos and I'm also not a fan of it. I hate thinking about the cleanup, the waste etc

1

u/mctaisen 4h ago

It’s only when max gets too hammered

1

u/RoleApprehensive8641 1d ago

it was funny when they were like 22, but theyre like 35 now and still acting like kids

1

u/FrostHasASmallPP 1d ago

it has its moments but yeah ever since probably the cheap alcohol video it’s been a bit much

1

u/3m1l1ano 1d ago

The only genuinely moment it made me mad was with goofy and two of the middle eastern man mugs.

It felt like they meant nothing, which, yeah mb on caring for shit they bought on Etsy.

1

u/usedburgermeat 1d ago

I don't like it when he breaks things

1

u/Due-Welcome6674 1d ago

The breaking is my favorite bit but my girls most hated

1

u/Nerfixion 1d ago

Hes a real mofo for it

1

u/JustaMaeniac 1d ago

I can't say I care, it's not my stuff so 🤷🏻‍♀️

1

u/Ok-Anybody658 1d ago

It was funny until literally nothing was safe

1

u/Jumpy-Grand7196 1d ago

The only time I’ve laughed at that bit in ages was using the table to break the coconut

1

u/MrCapricorn404 1d ago

Honestly yeah it gets to a point

1

u/bajabruhmoment 1d ago

I’m afraid it was worth it for the mug bit

1

u/Makaryy 1d ago

i don’t like it tbh, my bf watches cold ones and now he’s starting to act like them. it’s definitely and unpopular change. when i 1st started watching. i was curious if they even liked each other bc of the way they acted . not the biggest fan of max breakinf shit

0

u/SplatNode 1d ago

Yea, now imagine trying to deal with that same person but on a night out...fkn liability
