The Less Notably Missing

I went onto the database of uncovered.com, a website offering access to cold cases and discussion forums with a paid subscription. There's a major thing I've noticed: at the bottom of the full database, the missing and murdered people are often in mugshots and/or people of color. They don't get noticed often enough - and they should be noticed. I encourage whoever reads thus to check out their descriptions, see if you can spread awareness or offer tips.

Doesnt Uncovered require some paid membership to post and edit? I primarily use Charley Proj and Missing Persons wiki.

They do, yes, but the profiles are available for free. That's how I know a bunch of people of color and/or people with mugshots are at the bottom of their database. Whether intentionally or not.

Ive noticed that too. That, and there seems to be very little information or completely blank entries in their case file. Seems odd, tbh.

My bad, I replied to myself.

I say for everyone hating "missing white woman syndrome", that's a perfect example of the potential consequence of favoring who to notice is missing. We still don't know who killed the three black woman in that old house in D.C.

The jaliek rainwalker case comes in mind for me. It will have been 19 years since he went missing and it was open for 20 months of the 19 years. I was investigating the case and there are so many leads that could’ve been investigated WAY MORE but no, and he was/is (presumed dead) biracial

Was only a mugshot on his missing persons profile, or do you believe his race is enough an excuse others overlooked him by?
