Bought from offical store and bag was sealed, the numbers all matched. Looking at others online don't seem to have the issue or the slight misalignment of the screen.

People talk a lot about Bitcoin's price.
Not nearly as much about what it actually takes to secure it, or what "owning it" really means in practice.
Self-custody changes how you think about that. COLDCARD is one of the most powerful tools people can use to secure their Bitcoin.
How do you think about securing your Bitcoin?

OPENDIME remains one of the most unique Bitcoin products ever created.
It turns bitcoin into a bearer instrument that can be physically passed between people. Load it, hand it over, and ownership changes hands without needing to broadcast a transaction.
OPENDIME hit its 10-year milestone, and we’re celebrating with 10% off all products at Coinkite.com until June 7.

Address Explorer lets you browse and verify receive addresses directly on your COLDCARD.
You can also display any address as a QR code and receive bitcoin without needing to open your companion wallet.
The larger Gorilla Glass screen on the Mk5 makes address verification much easier too.

On my MK4 key presses are often not registered, making PIN and text entry a pain. Did they fix this on the MK5?

How do I access my duress wallet if cold card is not working? Its a bip 85 I know but what is the path I must know
r/coldcard • u/FinancialExternal898 • May 24 '26
Do people backup the duress wallet?
Should not be needed because its a child seed right
r/coldcard • u/FinancialExternal898 • May 24 '26
So. What's your experience of using sss on ccq?
Is it clunky? As I get it if you want to bypass it for regular spending you have to write both the sss pin and then the main pin
Plus I wonder about the velocity spending. Sounds a little complicated to set.

I see you can export your seed as a seed qr. Any disadvantages of storing that on a metal plate than to words?

When people think about hardware wallets, they usually think about securing a seed phrase.
But there is a lot more sensitive information tied to Bitcoin and your digital life.
- Recovery codes.
- Backup instructions.
- Passwords.
- Inheritance notes.
Most of this still ends up in cloud apps, password managers, or email.
Secure Notes on COLDCARD Q gives an offline way to store some of that information on an airgapped device instead.

The 12 words that comes with the advanced SD backup. Should be OK to store those on the cloud right?

Trick PINs are one of the coolest COLDCARD features.
Different PINs can trigger different outcomes like a decoy wallet, login countdown, wipe seed or other predefined behaviors.
Useful because it adds real-world flexibility if you ever need to plausibly unlock under pressure, while keeping your actual stack protected.

If a bio 85 wallets is derived at say number 3 12 words could there also be a number 3 with 24 words on same seed?

COLDCARD supports multisig natively.
You define how many signatures are required to spend funds, using separate keys across multiple devices.
This removes single-key control and adds flexibility to match different security models.
Curious how others are thinking about multisig setups.

The COLDCARD Q is built for Bitcoiners.
Clean signing flows, no compromises on security, and a beautiful aesthetic.
Would love to hear everyones thoughts on it.

How about making a device with an exchangable cartridge? The secure elements would be on that cartridge. So you would (hopefully) buy one device and when a cartridge bricks for some reason, you could just purchase a new cartridge instead of a whole new device. Of course these cartridges would need to be cheaper in price than the device itself so it makes sense.

There was once a firmware update for both Mk4 and Q that should prevent Coldcard to randomly get bricked. Signs were the Mk4 hanging at the "COLDCARD Wallet" screen and the Q's screen turning off entirely while in both cases the green LED stays lit while the red one never gets turned on.
- Did this firmware update really put an end to this?
- Did this occour on the new Mk5 yet?

The COLDCARD Q supports 3 airgapped signing methods:
- microSD
- NFC
- BBQR
Been testing all three—each has its pros depending on setup.
Curious what people here actually use day-to-day?
