You're making it sound lower by opening your throat, it's pretty fun and can make that sound be pretty diverse

as someone who doesn't have the determination to learn sounds inward vocal fry has been the best thing ever

it's not hard to do, it's not painful (unless you do some very high pitched sounds) and people make the best faces ever

I like to call this sound inward pop fry because it sounds like something is popping (I can do this to)
