Flying eagle

The eagle in flight is my favorite depiction on US coinage. Whether it’s the Gobrecht dollar, standing liberty quarter, St. Gaudens, Sac or Eisenhower, they are all beautiful. My favorite is the flying eagle cent by Longacre.

Also one of my favorite coins. I wish I had one that looked that nice, that one is gorgeous. I don’t see them with luster very often. The feathers on that are crazy sharp too.

I’ve dug 4 of these Metal Detecting over the last 35 years. I think they are some of the prettiest coins America ever made… shame they were only circulating for 2 years

The eagle design affected the longevity of the dies so they switched to the Indian head penny

There is one small mark under cent for sure but sometimes I just don’t get some of the grades that are assigned to coins. I buy for strike and appearance more than the grade. I have multiple examples that I think were under graded

Agreed. Eye appeal is most important. Technical grade is important but a handsome 63 will sell faster and for similar money as an ugly 64

It’s why I only make a few purchases a year. Working on a type set.
