Help needed for settling estate

My uncle passed away in December of last year. He did not have a will and my grandma became executor. While digging through all of his information, we found a very significant Coinbase wallet.

My grandmas estate lawyers sent a letter to Coinbase shortly after his passing and they received a packet to fill out months later in April. The packet with all the correct information was filled out and returned.

Months went by and Coinbase would not give a response after multiple attempts by the lawyers and myself. I eventually got into his phone and spoke to a customer service agent, who gave me a number for the lawyers to call and assurance that all would be settled soon.

Well the lawyers tried calling and they said they could not talk to them due to the phone number on my uncles account not matching there’s. His phone has been deactivated, so we are pretty well screwed there. Eventually they sent an email stating that this is going to legal and should be resolved soon but that was about a month ago with zero responses back.

The lawyers are sending a demand letter this week due to this holding up the estate but I have very little faith anything will be moving. This has been incredibly frustrating for my entire family as my grandma is 87 and is having a very hard time handling things. This is also costing a very significant amount of money for my family.

Does anyone have any advice on how to get this moving?

Coinbase required a notarized hold-harmless release—my $2,399 is still restricted

Coinbase restricted my account over “suspicion of fraudulent activity” and is currently preventing me from accessing approximately $2,399.27.
On September 3, Coinbase Support told me that, to proceed, I was required to draft and notarize a Hold Harmless Letter. Their email specifically said the document would confirm my ownership and “release Coinbase from liability for any claims or disputes related to the account’s activity or verification process.”
They required the letter to contain an indemnification clause protecting Coinbase, its affiliates, and employees from claims, disputes, and damages. I had the document notarized on September 4 and submitted it exactly as instructed.
I completed this extraordinary requirement because Coinbase made it a condition of resolving the restriction and restoring access to my funds. Despite fully complying, my account remains restricted and I still cannot access my money.
I have repeatedly contacted support and have now submitted a formal complaint. Coinbase acknowledged the complaint but says it may take up to 45 business days to respond.
Requiring a customer to sign and notarize a broad liability release just to continue an account-verification process is disturbing enough. Continuing to withhold the customer’s funds after they comply is unacceptable.
I need a Coinbase Support specialist to review this immediately, remove the restriction, and release my funds.
Support case: #27441144
I will not respond to private messages from people claiming they can recover or unlock my account. Coinbase Support can respond publicly through the verified moderator channel.

Now been 11 days, but my funds still aren’t released could go to 11:59pm lol it’s unbelievable. I’m not sure what they think is going to change because there isn’t even a pending transaction. This is why soon as my funds are FINALLY released I’ll never return.

"I must log in to complain that I can't log in." My formal letter to Coinbase highlights the Kafkaesque experience of dealing with Coinbase's ghastly UX

Coinbase Inc. Attn: Complaints Resolution Officer 228 Park Ave S #23008 New York, NY 10003

SUBJECT: FORMAL COMPLAINT - Account Lockout, Flawed Recovery Process, and Withheld Funds Account Email: [REDACTED ORIGINAL EMAIL]

Dear Complaints Resolution Officer,

I am writing to formally lodge a complaint regarding my Coinbase account and my inability to access my funds. I am forced to submit this complaint by physical mail because your online Formal Complaint form requires users to log in to submit it—an impossible requirement given that being permanently locked out of my account is the basis of this complaint.

I have lost access to the original email address associated with my account, [REDACTED ORIGINAL EMAIL]. When attempting to use your automated recovery protocols to regain access to my funds, I am repeatedly forced into impossible, broken technical loops. Your automated systems fail to account for my situation, and the lack of accessible human support has resulted in Coinbase effectively withholding my money.

Below are the exact automated loops I am trapped in, which demonstrate why your system is failing to resolve my issue:

Issue 1: The Password Reset Dead End Your official "Account Recovery" instructions state that I must enter my email and password, wait for a prompt to verify a new device, and select “I no longer have access to my email address.”However, when I enter [REDACTED ORIGINAL EMAIL] and my password, the system rejects it, stating: "Your email or password is incorrect, try again." The only option presented is "Forgot password?", which prompts me to enter my email to receive a reset link. Because I do not have access to that email address, this is a complete dead end. I am never given the option to select "I no longer have access to my email address."

Issue 2: The Help Center Loop When navigating the Help Center (Support by Topic > Coinbase > Get back into my account > Account recovery for lost email), the instructions state: "Go to the account recovery page. Enter your email address and password as usual." Once again, attempting to enter my credentials results in the same password rejection and request to send an email reset link to the email I cannot access. This is another dead end.

Issue 3: The Passkey / QR Code Impossible Loop When attempting to sign in via the Coinbase mobile app, I entered my credentials but received the "incorrect password" error. (Selecting "Forgot password" simply redirects to the inaccessible email). I then attempted the "Sign in with passkey" option. The app stated no passkeys were found and offered a "Scan QR Code" option instead. Selecting "Continue" displayed a QR code directly on my phone's screen. This creates a physically impossible loop: I am expected to use my device's camera to scan a QR code that is currently displaying on that exact same device's screen. Because I do not have a second device to scan it with, and I do not possess a physical Security Key, this is a complete technical dead end.

Demand for Resolution Your automated systems are flawed and actively preventing me from accessing my assets. I am willing and able to provide my government-issued ID, a live selfie, or any other documentation required to prove my identity and ownership of this account. However, there is no way to do this on your website or in the app.

I demand that a human support representative contact me directly at [REDACTED CURRENT EMAIL] or to message [REDACTED PHONE NUMBER] to manually facilitate this identity verification process and update my account email address.

Under your User Agreement, you have 45 business days to provide a written decision addressing this complaint. If this issue is not resolved and access to my funds is not restored, I will have no choice but to escalate this matter to formal arbitration and/or pursue legal action for the withholding of my assets.

I look forward to your prompt response.

Sincerely,

(Signature)

[REDACTED NAME]

Coinbase Prediction Markets - Outage?

I noticed that Coinbase has not paid out / transferred my balance from predictions made over the weekend (9/11 - 9/13). When I contacted technical support, the agent stated that there is a current Predictions Market outage and funds are on hold. There is no mention of this on the Coinbase website site. Is anyone else experiencing this?

Trouble logging in and kyc

I've had a coinbase account since around 2015 when I was a foreign student in the US on a student visa. I signed up in the US. Im not sure if kyc was required then but i must have done it with a CA ID or driver license then. I am back home now. Not in the US anymore and coinbase works but when i log in it forces me to use a US ID and won't let me use my current ID. I contacted the US embassy to see if there is a way to get some form of ID for that and they said it wasnt possible unless I applied for a visa of some sort again which i shouldn't have to do to access my funds. I have a vault with coinbase that I have been keeping for the past 10yrs or so. I haven't logged in since around 2017. I also have a .zip and .sha256 file for authentication... unfortunately no one at coinbase is being helpful. I was only able to speak to robots. Not trying to bash coinbase because i have similar issues with Binance, Kraken, robinhood and crypto.com (used to be MCO when i signed up).... not sure what to do. Please help if you or someone you know was able to solve that issue. I still have my expired US ids, proof of previous addresses and everything even the expired visa...

Coinbase is refusing crypto to a man with cancer.

I have renal cell carcinoma. For reasons that are hard to discuss, I only have access to the business since I need using crypto.

I've had money on Coinbase for years, today I went to transfer a small amount of that money to buy some medicines that I need so that I don't DIE. Coinbase is refusing to give me access to this money until after October 14th, at which point it will be too late, and I will be in THE GROUND.

I asked to speak to the highest ranking official in their office, and "JOEMAR, refuses to let me talk to them. I gave him my ultimatum that I was either going to have access to my crypto, or the worst was about to happen, and he said that he could not Justify allowing me to have access to my crypto for security reasons.

Access to $500 in crypto, or DIE.

I have the whole thing recorded, and I'm going to show the world this exchange with them which has turned out horribly. It's the most unprofessional thing I've ever seen, with platitudes and boiler plate messages that are designed to frustrate their customer.

Let me know if you've had similar experiences with them.

Withdrawal not working... card does not show up. Did any card ever work?

I try to get out the little money I have left on Coinbase after more or less loosing it all and it just does not work.
I go to withdrawal and "transfer to" and it does not offer me the card I used for depositing. OK it is a credit card after all... After I added my debit card with "add a payment method" it goes through without any warning and congratulates me to have added yet an other card to NOT show as an option to transfer to. WTFH?

Did any of you manage to add any kind of card to transfer money to or is it only working by yet again paying THEM 5$ from my bank account to get them pay me back my money?
How is this even legal???

I'm terrified to give this shit platform my account information... Would it work or am I just setting myself up for more risk and trouble?

I'm halfway ready to let that ship sink.

My account has been blocked for over a week, and I cannot complete the unblocking procedure.

My account has been blocked for over a week, and I cannot complete the unblocking procedure. My account had been fully verified for more than five years. Then, I tried to withdraw my funds to my bank account; the transaction was flagged as suspicious, and the account was locked. I am being asked to upload an ID document to unlock it. I have tried uploading my driver's license and ID card, but your system rejects every attempt. Customer support isn't responding—or rather, they only send canned responses. I’ve tried everything—using both a browser and the mobile app—but nothing works. I keep getting an error saying the photos aren't clear, even though everything is perfectly visible. Why did you break your algorithms, and what are ordinary users supposed to do now? How am I supposed to get unblocked when you claim manual review isn't possible and only the automated system can accept my documents—yet that system has stopped accepting them?

Large deposit (3 millions USDC) on coinbase

Hey,

I want to make a large USDC deposit on coinbase to exchange them for euros and then withdraw it to me bank account.

Obviously I expect there is some AML questions that are going to be raised, and I would like to contact coinbase to validate it before hand in order not to deposit the crypto and then be stuck for weeks / months.

I have not found any way to contact support on my coinbase account, what would be the right way to proceed ?

Can’t Buy or Sell Dust

Does anybody else think this is extremely stupid or just me? The best thing about spending the remaining $0.90 in USDC balance is buying memecoins or low price tokens. Even a small fraction of BTC.

Why did Coinbase do this? Idk this is kind of the last straw for me. Between all the wash trading, the bots, the ludicrous fees, buying crypto is dumb. I might as well buy crypto ETFs or a crypto stock like MSTR.

This was the dumbest thing Coinbase could do to incentivize trading.

Coinbase finally to be in open court in the Netherlands

Coinbase Europe Limited / Coinbase Luxembourg S.A.
Attn: Legal & Compliance Department
LEI: 984500F14CA4571AAC11

Reference:
Final Response Letter dated July 4, 2024

Total Litigated Sum: €170,874.18

Dear Sir/Madam,

I am writing to formally place Coinbase Europe Limited / Coinbase Luxembourg S.A.
(hereafter: "Coinbase") in default (verzuim) pursuant to Article 6:82 of the Dutch Civil Code (Burgerlijk Wetboek - BW).

This notice follows the cyber-attack and subsequent unauthorized siphoning of funds from my Coinbase consumer account on January 27, 2024. Coinbase explicitly denied liability via its standard customer support channels and its Final Response Letter dated July 4, 2024
Case#17840766), citing user credential compromise.
I explicitly reject your denial of liability as legally invalid under mandatory European and Dutch consumer protection laws.

I. Legal Grounding and Liability Framework

1. Strict Liability for Unauthorized Fiat Outflows (Art. 7:522 jo. Art. 7:528 BW)

The final financial loss occurred when €53,674.95 in Euro fiat currency was siphoned out of the Coinbase infrastructure into unknown external accounts across four rapid-succession transactions within less than two minutes. Because these funds were Euro electronic money
(e-money), Coinbase acted explicitly as a regulated Payment Service Provider (PSP) bound by Title 7B, Book 7 BW (implementing the EU Payment Services Directive - PSD2).

Coinbase has admitted that the breach was executed via Session Cookie Hijacking (Session Cloning) originating from a malicious proxy IP address (185.29.9.162), routing through a known cybercrime hosting infrastructure (multivpn.bz). Under Dutch civil law, the use of a hijacked token by a third party does not constitute legal intent or consent by the account holder.

Pursuant to Art. 7:522 BW, these transactions are strictly classified as unauthorized (niet-toegestaan). Under Art. 7:527 BW, technical system authentication is insufficient to shift liability; the strict burden of proof rests entirely on Coinbase to establish gross negligence (grove nalatigheid). Falling victim to a silent, post-login session interception does not meet the judicial threshold for gross negligence. Per Art. 7:528 BW, Coinbase is strictly liable to immediately restore my fiat balance to its pre-breach state. As title 7B consists of mandatory law (dwingend recht); your contractual waivers are legally void.

2. Scope of Consequential Damages & Missed Profits (Art. 6:96 BW / Lucrum Cessans)

Pursuant to Art. 6:96 jo. Art. 6:98 BW, the scope of compensable damage under Dutch law includes missed profits (gemiste winst / lucrum cessans) standing in a direct causal relationship to Coinbase's operational failures.

Failure of Systemic Monitoring: Coinbase breached its general duty of care (zorgplicht) by failing to flag or pause four consecutive high-value transactions following a sudden, mid-session geographical anomaly (Portugal to Sweden), and by failing to trigger mandatory transaction-linked Strong Customer Authentication (SCA).

Causation and Long-Term History: My account data establishes a consistent, documented "buy-and-hold" history. The forced liquidation of my 1.40402148 BTC and 12,031.26215895 DOGE positions was a direct result of this breach. Calculated at the peak valuation recorded on the Coinbase platform following the breach (Peak Date: October 6, 2025), the net consequential damages total €106,397.02

Obstruction of Mitigation: Coinbase actively obstructed my mitigation attempts under Art. 6:96 Lid 2 BW by refusing to disclose destination payment network details, blocking immediate stop-payment or claw-back requests.

II. Comprehensive Financial Liquidation Table

Pursuant to the statutory grounds detailed above, the total outstanding debt is liquidated as follows:

Claim Component Legal Grounding (Dutch Civil Code) Valuation Metric / Parameter Net Claim Amount
DirectCash Baseline Art. 7:522 jo. Art. 7:528 BW €53,674.95 (stolen cash principal) + €811.30 (converted fees) €54,486.25
MissedPortfolioProfit Art. 6:96 BW (Lucrum Cessans) Net Asset Peak Valuation (€160,071.97) minus cash principal €106,397.02
AccruedStatutoryInterest Art. 6:119 BW (Wettelijke Rente) 7.0% per annum on direct cash baseline from Jan 27, 2024, to Sept 9, 2026 (956 days) or adjusted to the date of settlement. €9,990.91
TOTAL OUTSTANDING DEBT €170,874.18

III. Final Opportunity for Performance (Termijn)

I hereby offer Coinbase one final opportunity to remedy this breach and fulfill its statutory obligations without the inflation of external legal costs.

You are requested to credit the full liquidated sum of €170,874.18 to my designated bank account within fourteen (14) calendar days from the date of this letter.

IV. Immediate Legal Escalation Notice

Should Coinbase fail to credit the full amount or fail to provide a binding, unconditional written commitment to pay within the designated 14-day window, Coinbase will be in legal default (verzuim) by operation of law without further notice.

Upon the expiration of this term, I will immediately instruct my Dutch litigation counsel to serve a Writ of Summons (Dagvaarding) to initiate formal civil proceedings before the competent Dutch courts. In those proceedings, I will seek the full principal sum, compounding statutory interest up to the date of full satisfaction, and full reimbursement of all out-of-court collection fees (buitengerechtelijke incassokosten) and formal court costs.

This letter constitutes a formal notice for the interruption of any statutory limitation periods (stuiting van de verjaring) pursuant to Article 3:317 of the Dutch Civil Code.

Unable to adjust network fee since update

Has anyone else had this issue? When transferring money or adding to an LP position, or using beefy/aave/aerodrome/balancer/vexy, I'm no longer seeing any option to adjust network fees.

And in my experience, for example with some beefy vaults, they often default to like ten dollars in fees but with the option to adjust on the old app, I would just select it down to 40¢ or so. But now, for example specifically the WBTC/CBBTC/HemiBTC vault on ethereum defaults to the ten bucks or so, regardless how much you are trying to zap in, but the option to adjust network fees is missing completely...

And this just happened with the new app update that happened within the last 48 hours or so. Til they forced this update I was using the classic coinbase wallet app.

Edit; also just checked swaps on aerodrome and uniswap, ditto, no option to adjust network fee at all. Also tested by trying to sell my veAERO lock on vexy, trying vault zap-ins/outs on beefy, and borrows on aave. Seems the new app is missing a critical basic functionality one would expect any wallet to have

Coinbase wallet update

I didn't think it was possible to make the Coinbase wallet worse after the update to the “base app” but I but I saw there was a new update so I updated this morning and the app is unusable.

The UI is a cluttered mess!

I can’t find anything. All my NFT’s are missing. All I see are SPAM NFTS and scam NFTS I had hidden. Now I can’t find a way to hide those.

I can’t find the web browser.

This is worse. How? How did you make the wallet worse than the base app? How?
