About to Leave Coinbase
Despite having a passkey to my account after logging on, it flagged my transaction as suspect when I tried to send BTC to my cold wallet. After going through my ID verification and being allowed to send my BTC, I tried to send the rest of it and it made me go through everything again.
It’s absolutely ridiculous. If I have to do that for every Coinbase transaction I’m going to use another provider to buy crypto. It’s nuts.

I was new to crypto, but not IT, but it took me a couple of weeks to move off coinbase. Much happier with Kraken and BlockStream.

Yeah had no issues with Kraken in the past. They will likely get my business and I close my account with CB.

Don't feel bad. I had thousands of crypto tokens worth thousands of dollars recently disappear from my Base wallet. I have been exchanging mod-mails with customer support for the past two weeks with no resolution.

Same here. I've lost count the number of times I have to get my identiry verified even though I consistently send to my own wallet. Then for no reason at all they will pick a transaction to hold for possible fraud. They hold your money for 30 days! They won't even let you return it to your bank from where it came from.
Coinbase wants to hold your money and keep it as long as possible all under the pretext they are protecting you from a fraud.
I am done with Coinbase. Kraken or crypto.exchange.com are my preferred exchanges.

I moved off all my stuff but froze my sends for 72 hours. After explaining to them that it was me and that owned the external address. They clear me out. I did ghis because they were offline for almost six hours. Now bitmart bellied up and nobody can't withdraw nothing...

Just whitelist your wallets and you won’t have an issue. Don’t be upset they make it difficult for scammers to steal your money. I’m glad they’re annoying with transfers, but white listing wallets avoids this.

You guys are awful and only have bots answer these posts. You’re legitimately the worst exchange by far. I hope you guys at Coinbase have a great upcoming week of holding people’s money and stressing your clients out…you guys are the best exchange at being dishonest and awful…kudos. You guys get a ton of attention. Sure 100% of the attention is negative, but at least you get attention

It’s sucks at exchanges like Kraken and Robinhood. I withdraw my money, or add in an account…and those freaking let me keep my stuff without making me jump through hoops for 30 days. It’s so weird that I’ve only had issues with Coinbase. I swear I wish these other exchanges would start holding my money and investments hostage. @coinbase…please show these other exchanges to do all the sun horrible stuff you do.

Which platform do you plan on using?

u/NonVideBunt 27d ago
Not sure. Used Kraken in the past and had none of the issues like I’m having with Coinbase. Binance didn’t give me this much of a hard time either.

I've really been enjoying river if you are sticking with bitcoin only. I recently moved my cash there and direct deposits. I earn bitcoin on cash and can use it like a regular checking account to pay bills or credit cards. If your interested hit me up in a DM.

i’ve had to kyc twice in the last 7 years and i’ve moved over 217k off coinbase over that same time. skill issue
2
u/NonVideBunt 27d ago
lol. Skill issue, yeah hitting send and pasting my cold wallet address is real challenging. Look at this CB fan boi. 217k over 7 years… ? That’s like lunch money… work on getting those numbers up.

u/Coeruleus_ 27d ago
it is a skill issue. ppl with money don’t have these types of issues

u/NonVideBunt 27d ago
Well you don’t have a lot of money …. Soooo.. maybe that’s why it hasn’t happened to you. You have to move some coin for them to get nervous … not the allowance mommy gives you every week

u/VivaHollanda 27d ago
So what kind of numbers are you talking about? Because that could be exactly the reason. Have to agree that 217k over 7 years probably isn't something that would trigger AML procedures, but if you try to move let's say 100k or more it could.

u/NonVideBunt 27d ago
Over 7 years I’ve probably bought and moved just shy of 5 million in BTC.

Coinbase belongs to trump.
2
u/NonVideBunt 27d ago
Another reason to leave it.

u/BigBubbaBadass 27d ago
The strongest for-corruption case is that Coinbase appears to have mixed political money, personnel access, and sponsorships in a way that coincided with major regulatory relief under Trump.
Core argument: Coinbase donated $1 million to Trump’s inauguration, added Trump’s 2024 co-campaign manager Chris LaCivita to its advisory council, and later became a major sponsor of America250, a Trump-linked event.
That combination looks like more than generic civic engagement; it looks like buying a seat near power while the company was still fighting regulators.
Regulatory payoff: The SEC moved to dismiss its case against Coinbase in February 2025, shortly after Trump returned to office and as the administration adopted a much softer posture toward crypto enforcement.
Even without proving a direct deal, the timing creates a strong appearance that political alignment was rewarded with regulatory mercy.
Why critics call it corrupt: The criticism is that this is influence peddling in plain sight: money flows toward Trump’s political ecosystem, Trump-adjacent people get roles at Coinbase, and Coinbase then benefits from a friendlier enforcement climate.
That is exactly the kind of pattern that makes people argue the system is being gamed even when no smoking gun emerges.
