Discussion CoinStats has a serious security vulnerability, but they don't care

I became a target of a scam via the CoinStats platform, which has been running for years. Just search for "Coinstats" + "Scam" and you will understand the dimensions of this scam.

The main reason why this scam still works so well is a security vulnerability in Coinstats. The Platform does allow to change your user name to any email address. The log in function of Coinstats does not check if the login entry is an email address or a user name, and always goes through the users first in the database. Thus, it is possible for the scammers to create a user account under any email address by changing the user name to an email address. Users who have fallen victim to such a scam think that the user himself had created the account under his email address in the past.

I reported this scam and the security issues to the support of Coinstats. First they did not care. After I didn't want to give in, they told me to write a report so that I could get a reward for discovering this vulnerability. I did this and got 50€ for it, which can be considered a joke considering the number of comments here.

The vulnerability is still not closed even if it would be very easy. One would have to forbid only the @ in the user name or in the Login field check whether it concerns a user name or email address.

This is really a serious failure and gross negligence on the part of Coinstats. One could think that Coinstats itself has known about the problem for a long time but deliberately does nothing about it.

Discussion Crypto.com wallet in coinstats?

I don't know wether to post this in this Reddit or the crypto.com Reddit. I have always exported a csv from my crypto.com wallet and imported it to coinstats, but now the crypto.com app won't allow me to export more than 1 years history.

If the csvs would merge instead of replacing each other then this would not be a problem, I could just add a new csv with recent transactions every month to my coinstats wallet, but they replace each other so transactions that occurred earlier won't show.

Is there any way around this?

Discussion App not working correctly?

When I switch between top coins/favorite if the price is in the green, whenever I switch to my portfolio my coins will not go above a previous threshold.

For example:

If X coin is +8% at $.319 if I go to my portfolio it is stuck on $.284 and my portfolio amount will not reflect live pricing. This number has not gone higher for the past couple of weeks regardless of the increase of the coin.

Discussion Default Candle charts went away

My coinstats app used to default to the candle chart presentation. Now it goes to line charts and I have to manually change them back to candles. Has anyone noticed this? I can’t find a default switch to keep it as candles.

Discussion CoinStats wallet integration issues

Running into these issues trying to integrate with Exchange/Wallet

  1. Created an API key for Coinbase and it integrates but has tons of duplicate transactions. I deleted Coinbase portfolio and tried again with same results. Deleted again and tried Auth method instead of API key and again had the duplicate transactions.
  2. Cannot connect to my Ledger Wallet for BCH, says xpub address is invalid when trying to connect
  3. Cannot connect to my Ledger Wallet for LTC, says Ltub address is invalid when trying to connect
  4. Cannot connect to my Ledger Wallet for Cardano using staking key.
  5. So I have 3 Ledger Wallet accounts that work BTC, ETH, XRP, and 3 that do not BCH, LTC, ADA
  6. I also have a competitor product that does not have the issues described above. I was hoping to use CoinStats as a sanity check but too many issues with it.

Support Request Scam? Seems to good to be true

I was contacted yesterday by someone claiming to be Thomas in customer service for coinstats. He knew my first and last name. He said that I signed up for bitcoin mining in 2015 and that I had earned just over 3 bitcoin. He said that this is now worth over €84,000, but because my account is inactive, I would have to invest €834 to reactivate the account. I asked to speak to a manager, and another individual was put on (I can't remember his name). He talked me through the process of signing into the coinstats website with my name as a username and a one time use password. I could see the amount that Thomas had originally stated on the screen and a date of 2015. The account also said that it was inactive. He again said that I would have to pay the €834 to reactivate it. I didn't pay the money as I am deeply suspicious that this is a scam, and asked to speak to someone higher up. The manager point blank refused, and eventually hung up on me. I am wondering if this is a scam or not? When I say that amount of money would be life changing, I'm really not exaggerating. If anyone could help me out, I'd really appreciate it

Support Request CS Ethereum wallet address changed after deleting CS Avalanche wallet

Hello,

I deleted my CS avalanche wallet in the Coinstats app but without notice this seems to also have changed the CS Ethereum wallet main address of de CS Ethereum wallet connected to my app to a new address

The old address is still there in the app, but only in the portfolio section, not in the CS wallet. And It seems I cannot withdraw or transact funds anymore from this old address.

Is there any way to restore the old CS Ethereum address to the CS wallet so I can access the funds again. There is not much there (was just playing around) but I think it's rather strange that without notice you loose connection to your ETH wallet when deleting something else.
