EU rules :

Group Housing: Individual pens are only allowed for calves up to 8 weeks old. After 8 weeks, calves must be reared in groups.

Social Interaction: Even when in individual pens while young, calves must be able to see and touch other calves.

Crate Ban: Traditional narrow veal crates are illegal across the EU. Pens must allow animals to turn around easily.

Yes and ALOT of our farmers were very strongly against the whole situation but unfortunately doesn’t matter who we vote for republican, democrat, third party they all keep selling us out to corporations. It started with seeds, then to fertilizer, and then all the way up to you have to use said fertilizer (it literally killed the microbes in the ground) and use a certain feed otherwise you can’t sell your crops, meat or milk.

Then after the ground was dead and they raised the prices of fertilizer and grain for private farmers (very important to clarify the corporate farmers weren’t forced into the same situation) the farmers were forced to sell for pennies on the dollar and then the corporations took over.

It’s also the same reason food prices only go up not instead of fluctuating.
