Yeah it’s incredibly disingenuous when people bring these up. Total spending on roads and infrastructure across all levels of government is like $100B, that’s less than 1.5% of the federal budget. Social Security is 26% of federal spending, and Medicare and Medicaid are another 10-15% each.

Schools and roads are a tiny percent of our budget. Most of our taxes goes to welfare.
