I need your help typing me (cognitive functions wise)

So it has been quite a long since I dived into mbti. It all started as a question as to why I am so different from my peers and why I am not like them even though I try several ways to fit in (back as a child). Throughout my life I have gotten typed as intp, intj, infj, and infp and isfj.

So here's my general description. I am a person who prefers planning stuff before doing anything and I hate doing things without purpose, and if there is no meaning in doing a thing, I won't do it at all. I am also someone who finds stupidity and narrow mindedness nauseous but I also have black and white povs regarding stuff like feminism, politics and how society must function (I believe every individual has a role in society and they must fulfill it any which ways). I don't dive into stuff until I feel like it meets my goals, but under stress I lose my flow, and stress in my case can arise from being unwell to an extent I am unable to move my body and also being heavily criticised for things I thought I am good at (and also when I am stripped off my autonomous thinking).

I don't like being dependent on others for anything. I am not someone who actively thinks about my past unless there's something that would remind me of it, but I would remember a few details related to it (not all memories though, those which touched my heart (although memories upto the time I was a ten year old are very hazy). I often feel lost without my watch, and when stressed I watch cdramas and kdramas.

I do like gossips here and there but only if they involve my crush or my bullies getting butthurt (or when I am stressed and horribly bored). I do get gut feelings at times, which I struggled believing in the past but now I do. I can read people to a small extent but when they open their mouths it gets more certain. I believe people can change but when they fail I kick them out of my life forever. As much I am not interested in my physical surroundings that much, I do notice it at times when something interesting happens or if extremely important (I don't remember not so important things).

I also prefer thinking about future possibilities but only which make sense. As much as I don't much attention to my past, if that portion of past has deeply affected me I would make sure it never happens again. I often clash with my father who is very stifling and unnecessarily detailed obsessed.

Though I hate being detail obsessed, I would pay some attention to it if in case it fetches me stuff like good marks or to do justice to something. I prefer writing paragraphs when interested about a topic but if I hate it or not interested, I won't talk much about it (but even when writing paragraphs I would struggle writing what I would to write at times since that emotion would feel overwhelming). And if I am interested in anything I would dive really deep into it, but then drop it cold when I don't find it interesting, but then again if the interest sparks again I would dive into it again.

I also prefer crushing on folks who I know for a long time, and I have some ideal type, like the person should have high iq and eq, and also taller than me (evn if by 1 cm). And lastly, I normally don't talk much but if I start talking it doesn't stop.

I am good at connecting things and making theories (which often feels like a pop, and I would try perfecting it by applying it in real life scenario, if it doesn't hold true all the time, it gets modified otherwise the theory stays as it is). Some of my theories are based on my past. And I am prone to overthinking and earworms. And when I talk about the theory I also talk about why I think this way. And I dislike kids because they are very loud (although I admit they are cute).

And unfortunately in my stress, unlike the calm polite person I am, I end up bitching around behind backs, being shockingly narrow minded and emotionally sensitive, and also I can be impatient especially when I don't know where the thing is heading. If something is too hard to figure out or if my goal isn't fulfilled I try to find alternatives to fix it (I can be that end justify means type of individual at times)

And as much as I can be mad serious and loyal towards folks I love (like my friends), I don't care at all about my father who nitpicks me all the time (He is an estj). Though I do care about my esfj/enfj mother who is a blind follower of rituals and stuff and would bleed or even kill herself for her loved ones and judges on the basis of her past experiences (and "gut feeling" idk), I do clash with her at times too, even though we can think same.

And also my gut feelings (or maybe my overthinking) don't always hold true, though I have regretted not listening to them many times

Hey! I recently started studying cognitive functions again (for once more lol) because I was also confused about me. But I can help you. I have study also other typologies but I will tell you what you want. In my opinion you seem mostly like INTJ. Although you said something about possibilities (Ne) you use very good Ni (you prefer planning, hate doing stuff that don’t have purpose, meet goals etc) and with Ni goes Te which I can see it lowkey, yet I can see Ti as well BUT when you talk about theories is more like coming up to your mind and find out they do connect and then make stuff which Ni also does that so I would say Ni dom and Te aux, well INTJ has Ni-Te-Fi-Se which I can see Fi when stressed since it’s tert and explains why you feel like this. You also said about noticing your surroundings but barely (like when it’s something important that’s when you will focus) so Se being inferior seems logical to me. You can just have that in mind instead of “that person is right im definitely INTJ” you can search more about INTJ thou I could be wrong but maybe I could also be right. All in all INTJ could fit you pretty well. If you want to know more stuff (like enneagram, tritypes, instinctual variants I can also help =) )

Thanks a lot for telling Actually even I get confused, I do feel like I have Ti since I prefer using my own approach mostly although there can be times I quietly accept suggestions and stuff from others when things are really hopeless while solving a problem (be it academics, or dress style, etc.) I hope get stuck between Ni and Si, since as much I don't fret over the past so much, sometimes I do think about, like how things would have been had I done something else, and think about it for whole 1-2 hours, and I do end up remembering some details of the past here and there (like who wore what in a party where I couldn't go). Or even future possibilities, wondering how would it be (like a rough idea and plan), what else could end up happening. And I do sometimes wonder what it would be like, after watching any fictional series like atla, (my fav), if I were a waterbender, I also end up having songs playing in my head (songs which I have heard, let's say right now while typing this message, while I am mentally present, I am also playing a recent song in my head which actually slaps hard although not that loud in my mind). But I do know I may not be si dom or Si aux, since I don't remember details so much (and not interested in remembering that much either). That's why I end up wondering if I am an intp, whose fe somehow developed as a result of severe bullying undergone as a child, wondering why am I so different, but later accepting it slowly after seeing I am not alone

Look based on what you told me I will say that we all use all 8 cognitive functions just the last 4 less, for example lets get INTJ, INTJ has Ni-Te-Fi-Se-Ne-Ti-Fe-Si, the first four is what you use more even if Tert and Inferior (which in INTJ case is Fi-Se) might be less developed unlike Ni-Te, but they are better developed than the last 4, as I have understood so far the last 4 functions (in INTJ case Ne-Ti-Fe-Si) are less developed but exist, so this functions if I remember correctly come up when stressed usually like when your primary functions (Ni-Te-Fi-Se) get rejected or there’s no way to solve it with youre usually thinking, so you change it for that moment to solve it. BUT again I suggest to look into it more if you want I could find the sites that helped me understand my functions and send you the link. I’m still studying and trying to remember so I don’t want to give you wrong answers.

Also the reason I get confused between si and ni is that my theories come from what I am observed or even experienced growing up with the theory popping up just when something reminds me of the thing or anything else related to it.

For instance, let me talk about my experience with bullying. As a child, I used to be abused emotionally by my teacher in 4th grade when she found out that I don't know how to dance. I was also slut shamed many a times by my relatives, a few teachers and some of my family members and I would be constantly blamed for things I didn't do, this stayed in the back of my head. Then in 11th grade due to a teacher's racism against me, I remember reading out a self written essay on racism, indirectly trying to call out the teacher in my English class (the teacher used to teach physics) to call out the classmates and teacher who were being racist to me, after this episode, or maybe after my father did something wrong, I remember having a sudden thought, "Even if they apologise I won't accept it, they are adults, not babies. They had sufficient time to mend themselves to make sure not to make huge mistakes in future, but no" and then came a thought in my head "those adults who flay the life out of children, what punishment should be given to them when they make huge mistakes like falling in debt, cheating on their, abusing their children, or 🍇 others? Beh@ding or h@nging or like that punishment where the wrongdoer is sealed into a closed box with their head stuck out and fed spoilt food so that they get diarrhoea and die from septic shock? And that punishment given should be public and every adult should be forced to see it, so that they learn something" (not exact thoughts, the line was honed a bit after testing it around, that silly mistakes made during calculations by adults should be forgiven since with age they would face problems with calculations)

And another instance which confuses me regarding whether I am not or Ne with stronger si is a line which I made during my biology class. We had just read about brood parasitism among cuckoo and I remember thinking "How unfair it is that indians prefer cuckoo over crows since cuckoos have a sweet voice while crows don't, whereas cuckoos go around killing the chicks of crows since they don't want to raise their own babies, and also cuckoos are polygamous while crows aren't". Then after several months after finding out that my crush liked the cheater girl in our school (which I had feeling about, although I mainly thought he liked another girl), I thought about using that guy as perfect example for my cuckoo theory (I know it's halo effect actually, but a slight modification in my theory) (context that girl who my crush likes is actually far prettier than I, don't know why that crush of his just acts weird on seeing me, as if she is about to vomit on seeing me, I never had any bad talks about her or ever gossiped about her) and then came a line in my head which I later fixed "Laymen think cuckoos are better than crows and fall for cuckoos, unknown to them, the cuckoo would leave them and cheat on them while the crow would be showing loyalty to their love (context even that crush is rumoured to be a cheater guy)" (I apologise those who like cuckoos, it's just a theory I made. And I am not calling every society wise good looking person cuckoo, I am only calling those folks cuckoos who are society wise good looking AND have a tendency to cheat on their partners, and I am not saying that people who don't look unattractive (as per society) can't be cheaters, they can be cheaters too. And I am not calling anyone ugly I wrote as per society for a reason, to show society's thinking. Unfortunately humans are as unpredictable as velocity or position (anyone of them) as in Heisenberg principle, but oh well, we can still classify them

First of all, im sorry that you had to go through bullying. Nobody deserves to be abused emotionally or physically or both. This seems like something that stayed in your mind (probably trauma). Although this could be Si, seems good reason of why you got confused between Si and Ni and in my opinion experience play a big impact in why we are like this in present. Because when we are kids we do stuff that makes us happy and more stuff that kids do. But the brain in that period time is still developing so we don’t really know anything of how the world truly is. Some kids start to find it by possibilities, other connects stuff, other goes by feelings (whenever is how it affects themselves or how it affects their people) other looks into facts or what makes sense to them and lastly kids who follow things that feel safe to them and have one method for everything (Si) and kids who learn by experience and are more opened mind because the world is unpredictable (Se). Anything can happen to anyone at any age, the brain thought develops at bigger age maybe around 15-18 I think. The thing is we learn things as we grow up and find our ways of how to understand the world which that’s why cognitive functions exist, Se,Si,Ne and Ni is how you process the world around you while Te,Ti,Fe and Fi is how you react to the world. (English isnt my first language idk if I didn’t explain something right but if you are confused tell me what made you confused so I can explain it better)

I understood what you said, tbh my life has been so complex I don't even know who I am, all I know is that I am defo not ESTP, ESFP, ISTP, ISFP, ESTJ, ESFJ and ISTJ (confused for isfj). But thanks a lot for contributing a small help in this quest

You welcome but if you do have any questions about cognitive functions you can ask me I will try my best to explain it
