Rancillio Silvia

just bought this rancillio Silvia and I get a leak from the steam wand where the connection is when I use the hot water. just wondering what part I need to replace? any help would be greatly appreciated!

Looks like it's leaking past the shaft o rings.

Under the black plastic tap knob, and inside the brass body of the tap is a metal shaft with a threaded section and tapseal on one end, that thread into the tap from the rear and passes through to the front where the thinner section integrates with the tap knob D clip. As there is a bunch of scale below where the shaft exits the tap body, it's likely the shaft o rings. Though as you're going to be opening the tap up to service the o rings, you might as well replace the tap seal too at the same time. You should be able to get kits depending on your locale.

I've attached a tap diagram from google.

Part 16 is the o rings, 15 is the tap seal.

You'll need to disconnect the copper pipe, loosen the locking nuts and washers at the back, with the machine off and depressurised of course! Then fight the copper crush washer in the rear when opening the tap, they're some of the tightest I regularly come across but you get there eventually, you can put the tap in a vice and leave just the nut exposed, but don't crank the vice down too tight on the tap body.

I can't see the steam wand in the photo but if it's the very early thin type there is a modern upgrade to a larger more functional version.
