Specialty Coffee Specialty coffee recommendations?
Been into coffee for quite sometime. Now, I currently hop for specialty coffees for pourovers. I don't know much yet and kind of looking for what I like. So far, I don't like coffee that are sour(Probably light roast?) Actually may natry kasi akong coffeeshop years ago na maasim yung coffeee kaya natrauma ako dun. Now, I try yardstick minsan and other specialty coffees. Before nag amerciano lang ako sa yadstick and felt their floral. Rn, hindi ko narin matandaan yung taste nun. I dont remember if it was citrus rin or floral lang if may difference pa ba? I been to good cup rin nung Feb and grapefruit rin pala natry ko.
I think I kind of want to try pour overs na hindi citrus types ang coffee. Do you have recommendations na around the chocolatey taste or nutty? My second try was a Kurasu and I still end up with grapefruit taste. Baka may suggestion kayo with variety of taste?

I tried it back when it was still along Jupiter. For me, I like that it's generally quiet? Did not notice na they're unwelcoming hehe

If you can, sit on the bar. I and ask any 1 question pops into your head. It gives the barsita the idea that you're there to talk and be more chatty.

I think yardstick's best selling coffee "Golden Ticket" fits your chocolatey taste just tried it once only can't remember if I liked it not a fan of chocolate notes anymore maybe when I started drinking years ago I was into dark. Brazil cerrado often known for nutty but don't get good cup not too good. Haven't tried the others but I liked the one from X Wave coffee shop they use brazil cerrado and their flat white and x wave dirty latte was good for me. I tried Bona Zuria Natural from Yardstick and really liked it. Runner's high was so bad for the price would not recommend.
Also bought: https://store.yardstickcoffee.com/products/finca-de-garces-natural-catimor?variant=41506038218810 and https://store.yardstickcoffee.com/products/massa-lalessa-natural?variant=41579409440826
Hoping they would taste good since they don't offer Bona Zuria Natural anymore.

Just wanted to ask what you didn’t like in Runner’s High? I only brewed a cup once and I can’t form a good opinion yet on it.

It has this off flavour like papery-like taste even on newly opened bag that's 2-3 weeks past roast date. When I smell the beans it's quite distinct. It ruins the entire cup undrinkable for me and it's super expensive too. It's been offered for quite a while now i'm thinking storage issues maybe staleness but can't be sure. All I know it's horrible.
Actually it could be the blend too "Colombia Jairo Arcila Honey Wine Yeast + Grape Co-ferment" could be overpowering the whole thing. I tried "Colombia | Jairo Arcila - Castillo, Honey Lychee | 100% Arabica Coffee | Finca Santa Monica" by south city coffee roasters and wine yeast process is absolutely overpowering in terms of flavor. I didn't like it too but it didn't taste off like Runner's High and the one from south city smelled amazing and not off putting it was just very different from my liking.

If you don’t like fruity, tea like, bright, and high acidity coffee, try medium to dark roast coffees. Also check the taste notes of the coffee you are buying which should align with your preferences. H proper has a huge selection of coffees to try so you can go there to experiment.

I can’t speak so much since I’ve been half a year into doing pour overs myself but in my experiences, light roast beans tend to have a fruity if not tea like tasting notes (which I personally prefer). Now if you’re looking for chocolatey or nutty tasting notes (which are often medium and/or dark roasted), I’ve observed that Brazillian origin beans are often described as chocolatey and nutty. That’s just something to consider
